三、阅读理解
Mr. and Mrs. White are my neighbors. Their house is small but they have a large garden. And they spend many happy hours working on it every day. We all agree the garden is great. While we spend our dollars in the market, the old couple can pick vegetables in their own garden.
Last month, Mr. and Mrs. White invited most of the neighbors to their garden for an “all-day food festival”.
They asked us to bring gloves and arrive early in the morning. We didn’t know what would take place.
By 9:00 a.m., there were nine of us in the garden picking tomatoes, beans and other vegetables. At lunch, there were lots of laughs. We shared a lot of stories. After dinner, we played games. Before we left, Mr. and Mrs. White gave each of us a shopping bag filled with vegetables. What a great gift!
Of course I loved the green vegetables, but I loved the happy time being with my neighbors more. Mr. and Mrs. White were so nice that they helped us learn from each other better. Now Mr. and Mrs. White have a blog about gardening. They teach us to grow vegetables online. And I can’t wait to see my tomato plants bear fruit.

No model has ever received more attention in China than the Xiaomi SU7, which launched (上市) on Thursday March 28th night in Beijing.
It may sound unbelievable but the launch event attracted more than 40 million views on Xiaomi Auto’s Weibo alone. Even guessing its price level had been a popular topic on China’s social media platforms for weeks.
Xiaomi, one of the world’s leading smartphone companies, began accepting orders in China through an app on Thursday night, after founder Lei Jun finished a more than two-hour presentation (发布会) on the SU7 car by stating the much-awaited price range (区间): 215,900 yuan to 299,900 yuan.
Xiaomi said that it received 50,000 orders for the SU7 in the first 27 minutes after sales opened at 10 p.m. Beijing time. Lei mentioned that Beijing-based Xiaomi aims to become one of the world’s top five car makers in the next: 15 to 20 years. “It’s hard to make a car, but it’s cool to succeed,” he said.
Lei said Xiaomi would lose money on the basic model at 215,900 yuan, a price that is lower than the Tesla (特斯拉) Model 3 in China. In his opinion, the SU7 car did better than the Tesla in most areas, but the best type of the SU7 is not as good as the Porsche (保时捷) Taycan.
“There’s still a long way to go for our car to become a Porsche,” he said, but if Xiaomi keeps working hard for another five to ten years, “one day we will finally catch up with and even surpass Porsche.”

Whenever a new house is built, we will buy something beautiful to decorate it. Painting is always the first choice. People from all over the world mostly like to choose western paintings. As a Chinese, choosing a Chinese painting is the best choice.
Chinese painting is one of the oldest forms of paintings in the world. Chinese artists first began painting over two thousand years ago, and painters in China are still using many of the same methods today.
Chinese painters often paint natural scenes, animals or people. Buildings are seldom included, unless they make up a small part of a natural scene.
There are two kinds of traditional Chinese paintings. The first is the gongbi style. This style of painting takes a lot of time to make, as everything is painted in great detail (细节). This style often uses a lot of colour as well. Long ago, most professional (职业的) painters in China used the gongbi style.
The second style of Chinese painting is the ink-wash painting (水墨画). Ink-wash paintings are done very quickly, and may not have much colour. Ink-wash paintings also have fewer details, because the painter is trying to get across the impression of the scene with just a few brush strokes (笔画). Long ago, most ink-wash artists did not work as painters, but painted as a hobby. However, a good ink-wash artist could still become famous.
28.How long is the history of the Chinese painting
A.200 years. B.2,000 years.

Remember when you were a little child trying to learn to walk
First, you had to learn how to balance (平衡) yourself and stand. You fell down, and then got back up. You laughed sometimes and cried at other times. After much practice, you finally learned how to balance yourself. You got much pleasure from this new feeling of power—you’d stand everywhere you could. It was a happy time—you did it!
Now the next step—walking. You’d seen others do it. It didn’t look that hard—just move your legs while you were standing. Wrong—more difficult than you ever imagined. But after you tried again and again and again, you understood how to walk.
If people found you walking, they cheered, “Oh, look at what the kid is doing.” This encouraged you! But look back on those days when you were the little child—how many times did you try when no one was watching, or when no one was cheering You couldn’t wait for someone to encourage you to take the next steps. You learned how to encourage yourself.
So, keep trying and encouraging yourself as you learned to walk if you want to succeed in doing something.

As we all know, most people have heroes in their hearts. For me, Dr. Norman Bethune is the hero in my heart. He was a great doctor from Canada.
Dr. Bethune was good at performing operations. And taking photos was his hobby. In 1938, he came to China. He opened hospitals and invented medical tools. He worked so hard that he saved thousands of Chinese people. He didn’t stop to take care of his own injured hand and died.
I am deeply moved by his stories. So I will work hard and do my best to help others.
