In an effort to cultivate good reading habits, enhance reading interest, and improve reading
efficiency among students, our school has launched an activity themed Digital Library: Making
Reading More Convenient.
Digital library has effectively classified all books, making it easier for students to search for.
What’s more, it provides diverse content of reading, such as e-books, videos and audio, which
have attracted more students to explore. By using the new digital system, not only can students
have personalised reading, but they can also track their reading progress and set goals for
improvement.
This activity is of great significance. It breaks the limitation of traditional libraries, bringing
us convenience and creating a strong reading atmosphere on campus.

W: Hello, I am Harry. I am here to talk about my work as a pilot for SkywestAirlines. Its
headquarters are here in Texas and I moved here from California to take up the role last year.(17)
My love of flying started in childhood. My dad was a pilot so I travelled on planes from an early
age. Later, I studied aeronautics at college in Ohio. I also joined a flying club to get a feel of
flying a plane, which confirmed my flying career.(18) After graduation, I got an opportunity with
Skywest Airline in California. It was a lengthy process with lots of training for trainee pilots. We
learned to tell the flight routes, work out the required fuel and so on. We were also trained to deal
with emergencies. For example, we needed to make an emergency landing because of the sudden
breakdown of an engine. That was the most difficult part of the training for me.(19) Then I started
at the bottom as a First Officer. Now I rank as a Senior First Officer. I like the view—my office
window changes every day! And with the variety of passengers and crew I get to meet. Although I
don’t come into as much contact with passengers as the flight crew, there’s never a boring
moment.(20)
