Adaptation and innovation (创新) of traditional opera has been an important trend in Chinese opera circle in recent years. In order to attract young audience of new generation and catch up with the time, traditional opera circle makes efforts to create new works. In recent years, traditional opera has come across the change of time and society. It gradually lost the main elderly audience and was not attractive for the young.
In order to find new opportunities, using modern sound, light and digital stage effects, China’s traditional Peking Opera, also known as jingju, is appealing to young people in a fashionable and innovative way, as the classic art faces an aging audience.
The centuries-old Tianleyuan Theater in Beijing has introduced fashionable performances of Peking Opera. The opera combines instrumental music, vocal performance, mime (哑剧表演), dance and acrobatics (杂技).
Tianleyuan has a jingju art experience section and fashionable performances. It has attracted more than 2,000 audience members, mostly young people, according to theater staff.
“Good art should keep pace with the times, so does jingju,” said Zhang Zishang, a22-year-old performer of The Drunken Beauty, one of the classic jing ju plays performed in the theater. “I feel today’s performance is very special,” Zhang added. She was born into a family of jingju performers and has had 10 years of stage experience. “Innovation is good, but we must also carry on the basic elements of jingju,” another young performer Deng said.
According to Deng, innovation is perhaps the best way for jingju to deal with the problem of an aging audience. The theatre has made successful attempts to combine jingju with local opera forms such as ballet when organizing performances abroad. “Innovation can help traditional arts go further. We are happy to see many young faces, and some of them even come twice to experience the ‘new’ art,” she added.
28.Why is adaptation and innovation of traditional opera important currently
A.To run after fashion. B.To attract the young generation.
C.To improve digital stage effect. D.To change the traditional opera circle.
29.What do we know about Tianleyuan Theater
A.It was founded about 100 years ago. B.It will introduce fashionable performances.
C.It has a jingju art creating section. D.It has attracted many young audience.
30.What’s Deng’s attitude towards the innovation of jingju
A.Supportive. B.Doubtful. C.Unclear. D.Indifferent.
31.Which one can be a suitable title for the text
A.The Traditional Opera Is Dying Out
B.The Future of the Traditional Opera Is Promising
C.The Performers of the Traditional Opera Are Supporting Jingju
D.Traditional Opera Circle Is Innovating to Attract Young Audience
Automation(自动化)is increasingly affecting many fields, causing debates like“Are Robots Coming for Your Job ” While many believe that creativity and artistic taste remain unique to human beings, advances in artificial intelligence(AI,人工智能)challenge this idea.
For example, at Rutgers University's Art and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, AI has been developed to produce beautiful, original paintings. Similarly, Amper Music offers AI-driven music creation services. Users can choose the instruments, speed, and length of the piece, and the software produces an original piece that is also "performed"and "mixed"by AI.
Amper's software is great at creating background music suitable for reality TV shows, online videos, and student films. It focuses on the market for ready-made music. These Al-created art and music are polished and attractive, but they raise important questions: What is the value of art when it can be produced in large quantities without human effort
Consider the Mona Lisa: its value comes partly from its scarcity — there is only one original. In contrast, Amper can create a new high-quality music piece every time you click, and Elgammal's AI painter can produce thousands of unique artworks rapidly. This situation creates a mixed world where art remains unique yet easily produced. It makes us wonder whether people should pay for such works and what their prices should be.
This issue is real, not imaginary. Spotify recently attracted AI researcher Francois Pachet, who used to work at Sony, to develop tools for human composers(作曲家).However, there have been reports that Spotify's playlists included music from artists who don't actually exist, possibly allowing Spotify to avoid paying royalties (版税).While Spotify says the tracks were created by real people using fake(假的)names, there are still worries about whether AI could be used to produce free music, which could harm human musicians.
As machines and technology start to replace many jobs, even creative fields like art and music are affected. This raises questions about the need for rules or groups to protect artists and whether society will continue to value human-made art more than machine-made creations. Ultimately, we must consider the effects of AI in art and music—who should get recognition when an AI-created piece wins awards like the Grammys
32.What challenges the idea that creativity and artistic taste are unique to human beings
A.Robots doing physical tasks. B.AI making progress.
C.Robots learning to debate. D.AI knowing painting.
33.What does the underlined word"scarcity"in paragraph 4 mean
A.Having high quality. B.Being extremely hard to get.
C.Having natural beauty. D.Being impossible to copy
34.What does Francois Pachet do at Spotify
A.Creating playlists. B.Producing free music.
C.Paying royalties. D.Creating tools to help musicians.
35.What does the last paragraph mainly talk about
A.Confidence of humans'artistic ability B.Ways to promote AI-created art.
C.Concerns about using AI in creative fields. D.The need for AI with human feelings.
How to make small talk
Sometimes, people say that small talk is awkward and shallow (肤浅的). 36 , the other person will focus on the more interesting parts of your conversation rather than the small talk itself. There are four tips that’ll help you make small talk in any situation.
·Devices down
37 . This is a small but meaningful gesture (姿态) in a world that’s totally connected to digital networks. Putting your phone, tablet, or laptop away shows your focus is completely on the person you’re talking to, and you’re not waiting for something to break your attention.
·Listen first
In social situations, one way to show you’re offering your full attention is to listen in an engaged (投入的) way. When you’re listening, show you’re paying attention by practicing nonverbal cues (非语言暗示) like nodding and making eye contact with the speaker. 38 . For example, if someone tells you, “Wow, I haven’t seen you in three years,” repeat back, “Three years Has it been that long ” This shows you’re actively listening.
· 39
When you ask about the person you’re speaking to, ask open-ended questions. For example, “How have things been ” is a better question than “Have you been alright ” The latter requires a simple yes or no response, while the former draws out information in a conversational way.
·Respond enthusiastically
When someone tells you something in a small talk conversation, respond enthusiastically (热情地). Your positivity shows you’re paying attention and also makes them feel valued and respected. 40 .
A.Be open-minded
B.Ask open questions
C.But if you do it successfully
D.The first step to making small talk is to put your devices away
E.It’s also a good active listening practice to repeat what someone just told you
F.If you view these conversations as opportunities to learn
G.This is good for building a relationship with someone you don’t know very well

M: Today we are going to talk about the spread of culture. We all know that throughout history, ideas spread from one culture to another when different groups of people get in touch with each other. However people don’t always adopt new inventions, food and ways of life. Well, Why is this the case One possible reason is the availability of raw materials. For example, a foreigner once introduce a tasty soup. But to make the soup, people would have to use the dried leaves of a special plant that isn’t available in this country. That is to say there’s no raw material. What happens next They would not make the soup part of their regular diet even if they enjoyed the taste. The other reason is that if people already have something similar in their own culture, they might refuse the new item. They may feel they don’t need two things serving the same purpose. For example, if a traveler introduces a unique musical instrument to a country, but the locals already have their own instrument that produces similar sounds, it’s likely that the new instrument will not be widely accepted.
