新课教学 Teacher: Hello, class! How are you today Before we start our new lesson, let's have a little chat. Think back to when you were little kids. Can you remember some of the things you used to like doing Maybe it was a game you played, a toy you loved, or an activity you were crazy about. Raise your hands and share with the class. Student 1: I used to like playing with Lego bricks. I could spend hours building all kinds of things, like houses and spaceships. Teacher: That's awesome! Lego is so much fun. It really helps with creativity. What about you, Student 2 Student 2: I used to love watching cartoons on TV. My favorite was "Tom and Jerry." Teacher: Ah, "Tom and Jerry" is a classic! The chase scenes are always so funny. Okay, now let's look at some pictures on the screen. (Shows pictures of a child painting, in a P.E. class, looking at ants, etc.) These pictures show different activities and things. We are going to talk about them using the structure "used to." For example, look at this picture of a child painting. I can say, "I used to like painting pictures when I was a child." Now, I want you to look at the pictures in your books on page [specific page number for 1a]. Check the things you used to like when you were a child. (Students check the boxes in 1a) Teacher: Alright, let's share. Who wants to tell us which things they checked Student 3, please. Student 3: I checked P.E. class. I used to like it a lot because we could play games. Teacher: Great. And why do you think you don't like it as much now, or maybe your feelings have changed Student 3: Well, now in P.E., we have to do a lot of running and it's tiring. Before, it was more about fun games. Teacher: That makes sense. How about someone else Student 4 Student 4: I checked painting pictures. I used to spend weekends painting at home. Teacher: Wonderful. Painting is such a creative way to express yourself. Now, let's move on to 1b. Think about other things you used to like when you were a child that are not in these pictures. Write sentences in the box. Then, turn to your partner and discuss them. I'll give you a few minutes. (Students write sentences and discuss with their partners) Teacher: Time's up. Let's hear some of your sentences. Student 5, would you like to share Student 5: I used to like collecting stamps. I had a big album full of them. Teacher: That's a really interesting hobby. Stamps can tell so many stories from different places. Student 6 Student 6: I used to like riding my bike around the neighborhood. Teacher: Biking is a great way to explore. Now, let's get ready for some listening practice. First, look at the sentences in 1c. Read them aloud with me. (Teacher and students read the sentences in 1c aloud) Teacher: Make sure you understand the meaning of each sentence. Now, I'm going to play the tape. Listen carefully and check the sentences you hear. (Plays the tape for the first time) Teacher: Okay, let's check the answers. For the first sentence, "I didn't use to like tests," who checked this one (Waits for students to raise hands) Yes, many of you are right. Now, for the second sentence, "We used to walk to school." (Goes through each sentence, checking answers with the class) Teacher: Good job. Now, we are going to listen again for 1d. Look at the chart. This time, as you listen, pay attention to what the girl and the boy say about things in the past and now. Fill in the chart. (Plays the tape again) Teacher: Let's fill in the chart together. For the girl, in the past, what didn't she use to like Yes, P.E. class. And now, what doesn't she worry about Tests. What about the boy In the past, what did they use to do every day after school Play. And now, what do they do all the time Study. (Completes filling in the chart with the class) Teacher: Now, let's practice speaking. We are going to do pare yourself with your partner. Use the examples in the book. For example, one person can say, "I used to be nervous about tests all the time. What about you " And the other can respond. Start talking. (Students practice speaking in pairs) Teacher: Let's stop here. Who wants to show us their conversation Student 7 and Student 8, come to the front and have a talk. (Students 7 and 8 come to the front and have a conversation) Teacher: Great job, you two. You used the "used to" structure very well. Now, let's summarize what we learned today. We used the "used to" structure to talk about things we liked or did in the past but may not do now. We also practiced listening and speaking about changes in our lives. For homework, I want you to write a short paragraph about the changes in your hobbies from childhood to now. Use at least three sentences with "used to." See you next class!
