Ⅰ.阅读理解(每小题2.5分,共20分)
(2025·重庆巴蜀中学高三模拟)What’s the truth of joy I was obsessed with this question when I was young. However, ever since I started my own family, this quest has been buried under my workloads and daily chores.
In 2008,Memorial Day weekend promised to deliver beautiful weather—not always the case at that time of year,so I decided to spend that Saturday shopping and do one big cleaning, starting with the garage. Our two-car garage,as always, was full of stuff.Boxes piled one on top of another, bikes crossed together.A garden hose (软水管) sat in a corner. We had to turn sideways when getting in and out.I planned to pull everything out on the driveway, hose down the entire garage, and after it was dry,put everything back more organized.
With the morning moving along, the possibility to finish the cleaning within the day began to look less and less likely.I recalled how I had been feeling discontented lately while taking care of our stuff. Here was yet another time! Then my neighbor June, who was working in her yard, heard my sigh and said jokingly,“The joy of home ownership, huh That’s why my daughter keeps telling me I don’t need to own all this stuff.”
I don’t need to own all this stuff.
As I turned to look at the fruits of my morning labor,I began to recognize the source of my feelings for the first time.It was piled up in my driveway. As I surveyed the pile I made, the answer to the obsolete (被遗忘的) question came to light:There is more joy to be found in possessing less than we can ever find possessing more.
I ran inside the house and found my wife upstairs cleaning the bathtub.Still trying to catch my breath,I said,“Kim,you’ll never guess what just happened.June said we don’t need to own all this stuff!”
And in that moment,a minimalist family was born.
1.Which of the following best describes the to-be-cleaned garage
Spacious and well-lit. Neatly labeled and sorted.
Disordered and jam-packed. Narrow and weather-beaten.
2.What can we infer about the author’s recent experience with stuff cleaning
He went through unaccountable frustration.
He figured out his disinterest in cleaning.
He initiated it and enjoyed the process.
He lost patience and rushed to the end.
3.What did June imply by saying “The joy of home ownership, huh”
The pleasure of possessing a home. The significance of owning a family.
The convenience of having a garage. The demands of maintaining a house.
4.Why did the author start a minimalist family
He favored living with a handful of people.
He wanted to quit being a slave of stuff.
He considered cleaning a waste of time.
He figured out the joy of ownership.
(2025·太原高三模拟一)Influenced by factors like school funding, sports facilities, teacher resources and safety concerns, traditional physical education was limited to static (静态的) scenes and closed gyms and playgrounds, which lacked interaction and feedback functions.PE curriculum was also restricted to basic sports like ball games, track and field and gymnastics. However, the emergence and application of new technologies like virtual reality(VR),3D technology, greatly expand and innovate sports scenes, providing possibilities for the construction of a flexible “on-site,on-campus,online” integrated new sports world.
IT can build online virtual learning environments for students, creating teaching scenes hard to achieve in physical world. Many schools have already partnered with technology companies to create different teaching scenes using digital sports products. The University of South Florida has cooperated with the VR sports training company Sense Arena, allowing students to practice tennis on its globally pioneering VR tennis training platform.Students use the Meta Quest 2 headset and the VR touching racket (球拍) which imitates the weight and feel of a real tennis racket. The platform features 35 training modes imitating various scenes in real-life tennis matches, including crowd noise, dazzling sunlight, shadows and wind.Athletes can engage in various forms of training, such as skill practice, technical analysis and match imitation.Such virtual sports teaching space further enhances the experience of PE learning.
Technology-based physical education not only serves ordinary students’ physical health but also addresses the needs of special groups in sports, especially students who cannot participate in regular PE classes due to physical, psychological or social adaptation issues. Many schools offer specialized sports programs to disabled students, like the “Pathways to Inclusion” program launched by the University of Queensland, which tailors various sports activities to different disabilities, such as blind football and wheelchair hockey. This is made possible with the support of sports technology,as different symptoms require the use of different sports equipment.
Through scientific, healthy and joyful educational concepts,technology-empowered PE classes convey the values of creating and enjoying a personalized experience, developing a sports education where everyone participates and benefits.
5.How do new technologies change traditional PE classes according to Paragraph 1
By investing more in basic sports.
By combining it with academic study.
By making dynamic PE classes possible.
By replacing PE teachers with AI teachers.
6.Which of the following services can Sense Arena provide
Real-life tennis matches. Virtual headsets and rackets.
Imitative distracting conditions. Sufficient sports space on campus.
7.What does “Pathways to Inclusion” program feature
Professional knowledge about psychology.
Technology-assisted sports for the disabled.
Interactive activities with ordinary students.
Personalized medical treatment for disabilities.
8.What is the author’s writing purpose of the text
To advertise a new VR product.
To raise public awareness of physical education.
To stress the importance of equality among students.
To introduce a new application of technology in PE classes.

(2025·太原高三模拟一)It was not until photographer Rita Nannini left New York that she grew fascinated by the city’s subways. While living in Manhattan for some 15 years in the 1980s and early 1990s,Nannini only commuted (通勤) on the one train—given the subway system’s bad reputation. But after relocating to New Jersey for several years where the subway is not an option,Nannini found that absence did make the heart grow fonder—maybe even for pizza rats.During her visit back to New York,Nannini nodded, noticing improvements in the subway’s facilities.
While Nannini was waiting for a train,a bench on the platform opposite caught her attention due to the ever-changing faces and characters. They were people of different accents, colors and beliefs. They were from all walks of life,a diverse mix of New Yorkers all there for their own different reasons.Having learned the teenagers’ popular “End of the Line” challenge—boarding trains at random and riding them until their final destinations,Nannini decided to visit every first and last stop across the NY subway’s lines with her beloved camera.
Nannini’s “End of the Line” experience saw her traveling some 665 miles across 26 routes in New York city. She took over 8,000 photos of the final stations,as well as the communities they served. In many cases, she rode the routes two or three times over to ensure she got “the shot”.“The project really shows me how important the subway is,and how sustainable it makes our lives,” she said.
“It’s often said that my photos show the end of the lines—the last stops,”she said.“But the end of the line is indeed the start for so many people. That made me think about who the people and the communities that live at the two ends are and what it is that the subway means to them.” Nannini was proud of her set of images directly challenging the traditions of story telling, which echoed both the boredom and excitement of travel on tracks.
Nannini enjoyed taking her time, starting her challenge in 2013 and only shooting the final photos last year. Her first monograph on the terminals of the NY subway was released in April 2023.
“When you drive in the suburbs, you don’t have those encounters,” she continued.“People enter your life on the subway. That’s what strikes me most on my journey on tracks.”
4.How did Nannini find the New York subway during her revisit
It turned out fine. It was depressing.
It still held the same bad reputation. It would be her only commuting option.
5.What is Paragraph 2 mainly about
The diversity of New Yorkers’ daily life.
The inspiration for Nannini’s subway shots.
The popularity of “End of the Line” challenge.
The challenges of Nannini’s job as a photographer.
6.What can we infer from Nannini’s “End of the Line” experience
Her way of telling stories is traditional.
She expressed sympathy for the subway riders.
Her photography is highly expected by the encounters.
She found life on tracks was more interesting than life on wheels.
7.Which of the following is the best title for the text
“End of the Line” Challenge:A New Trend in NY Subways
The Road Home:Rita Nannini’s Record of Her Subway Ride
Last Stop to New Start:A Photographer’s Rediscovery of NY Subways
New Yorkers’ Routine:A Surprising Mixture of Boredom and Excitement
(2025·郑州高三质量预测二)It was a cold May morning when I received an email from an old friend inviting me to join a 10-day all-girls surf trip.I knew I had to say yes.The trip seemed simple enough.10 women aged 30 to 45,all complete strangers, were to meet on the coast of Portugal to try something new:surfing in the Atlantic Ocean.I have always loved traveling,so I eagerly sent an email to my boss asking for time off to make the trip.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over my past 33 years,it’s that adults typically spend their days mastering the things they’ve done before. It seems like we pride ourselves on becoming experts in whatever field we’ve fallen into, knowing more about less. Now,in theory, this is a great strategy,as it allows you to become really good at one particular thing, but it also kind of ends up leaving some skills lacking.
I met my new surfing companions on the grass of the hotel lawn in a small surf town called Ericeira.Despite our different personalities and backgrounds,we were all united in a strong desire to challenge ourselves, learn, tackle problems and grow.
The shores at Ericeira, where the beginners learn to surf, are shallow and covered with slippery rocks. They make for softer waves but are difficult to ride.
Guided by our amazing coaches, together,we faced the waves.Sometimes,it poured with rain, and the waves crashed around us,but we were still out there. And with every slip and fall, words of encouragement filled the air.Honestly,I probably spent most of my days frozen to the bone, but that didn’t matter because a new level of genuine joy and personal achievement had been unlocked.
Learning a new skill taught me the humility (谦虚) that can come from doing badly at something new,and the pride that develops when you finally manage to grasp something you’ve been working on.While surfing might not be my lifelong passion, trying it out inspired me to take more risks in life. You never know what you’re capable of if you don’t go out there and try.
8.What inspired the author to join the surf trip
Her love for seashore surfing. Her desire to make new friends.
Her need to take a break from work. Her passion for exploring something new.
9.What does the author think of adults’ focusing on mastering one field
It hurts one’s pride. It narrows one’s potential.
It promotes one’s career success. It broadens one’s view of the world.
10.Which words can best describe the author’s surfing experience
Relaxing but dangerous. Tough and uninteresting.
Challenging but rewarding. Surprising and unforgettable.
11.What can be inferred about the author
She used to lack confidence in herself.
She determined to become an expert surfer.
She discovered her lifelong passion after the trip.
She was more willing to try new experiences in life.
Ⅱ.七选五(每小题2.5分,共12.5分)
(2025·长郡中学高三适应性考试)Is going alone in an unknown area the right way to go,or do you want a tour guide to show you the highlights I think that you can combine the two ways in one trip and have the best of both worlds. 1 The best purchase we made was for a bus tour that would take us around the capital and point out all the main sites. That allowed us the next day to travel on foot to the ones we especially wanted to see.
Let’s look at the San Francisco Bay Area which is another one of my favorite vacation spots. Some areas are so familiar to tourists that it’s possible to view the attractions on your own. 2 Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39 are good examples.Just by walking a few blocks, you can tour Aquarium of the Bay and the Riptide Arcade on Pier 39.
3 If you go to Alcatraz Island, you have a choice of going alone, having a live tour guide or being guided by earphones.I would recommend the live tour guides.I went all three ways, and I received more enjoyment by someone telling me items of interest I know I had missed on previous tours. 4 It gives you a behind-the-scenes look of colorful Chinatown. The tour covers history, traditions of the local people and culture that you probably wouldn’t know or see by travelling alone.
You can go alone to attractions or take a guided tour. It’s your choice and you can choose whichever would give you the most memorable experience. 5
A.I recommend both.
B.It’s possible to drive to the area and go alone.
C.One trip we recently took was to Washington DC.
D.Some attractions are worth having a tour guide for.
E.Chinatown Walking Tours are a tour-guided must-see.
F.That allows you to take your time and go at your own pace.
G.The tour guides know what we have never found out on our own.
1.
2.

(2025·重庆八中高三模拟)Baseball was everything to Walker Smallwood. But when he was just 14 years old,he got heartbreaking news that he had a rare form of bone cancer growing in his left leg.His baseball playing came to a sudden stop as he spent the next three years undergoing six surgeries,24 treatments and 18 hospital stays.
The young pitcher’s leg would never be strong enough to make competitive playing an option.“At the time I guess I was just kind of in denial (否认),because my whole life, day in and day out,was built around baseball and sports,” Walker said.“It was pretty disastrous,” his mom,Pam said. The most the 17-year-old would be able to do is play catch with his teammates as they warmed up for their games.
As the team approached the final game of the season,Walker’s parents and coach agreed that he could pitch (投球) for an inning (一局) or two for the old time’s sake.
“Say you did it,have some fun,and then that’ll be it.Obviously, that’s not what happened,” Walker said.
What ended up happening was more than anyone ever expected.Walker not only threw solid pitches in that first inning, but he also ended up pitching a no-hitter.The coach decided to keep him in the game until he started giving up pitches, but that never happened.Smallwood struck out all but two hitters for the entire game and tied a school record in the process.
“I was in tears, most of the stands were in tears—just one of those special moments that we’ll cherish forever,” mom Pam said.Smallwood may never play again. He’s actually fine with that now because who needs a World Series ring when you’ve already taken on your greatest competitor and gone undefeated.

(2025·定州高三模拟)When it comes to lowering blood pressure, studies have typically shown that aerobic (有氧的) exercises are best.Recent research suggests another type of physical activity is worth including as an effective tool to prevent and treat high blood pressure.
Exercises that engage muscles without movement, such as wall squats and planks, may be best for lowering blood pressure, according to a large study published in July,2023 in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
This type of training is known as isometric exercise, according to the Mayo Clinic.Isometric muscle action happens when muscles contract but do not visibly change length, and the joints involved don’t move, facilitating stability of the body.Isometric exercises can be done with weights or without, just relying on the body’s own weight.
“These findings provide a comprehensive data-driven framework to support the development of new exercise guideline recommendations for the prevention and treatment of high blood pressure,” said study coauthor Dr.Jamie O’Driscoll in a news release.
The researchers looked into randomized controlled trials that had reported the effects of exercise interventions, lasting two or more weeks,on blood pressure between 1990 and February 2023.From a review of 270 trials with 15,827 participants, the researchers found that among HIIT (high intensity interval training),isometric exercise, aerobic exercise, dynamic resistance training and a combination of the latter two, isometric exercise led to the greatest reductions in blood pressure.
It’s also important to note that there are other lifestyle changes as well as exercise that can benefit your blood pressure. These include keeping to a healthy weight, eating a balanced diet, cutting down on salt, not drinking too much alcohol and ensuring that you continue to take any prescribed medication.
More research is needed to determine exactly why isometric exercises might be better for lowering blood pressure than other types of training, the authors said.
5.What does the underlined part “isometric exercise” in paragraph 3 refer to
Exercise that is done with extra weights.
Exercise that involves visible muscle contraction.
Exercise that focuses on stability of the body.
Exercise that engages muscles without movement.
6.How did the researchers carry out the study
By providing statistics. By interviewing experts.
By doing experiments. By making comparisons.
7.What does the author suggest the future studies about isometric exercise focus on
Exploring the reasons for its effectiveness.
Demonstrating its influences on mental health.
Assessing its suitability for different populations.
Determining its long-term impacts on blood pressure.
8.What is the text mainly about
The benefits of aerobic exercises.
The best exercise for blood pressure.
The effects of various types of exercises.
The importance of keeping a healthy lifestyle.

(2025·哈尔滨六中高三模拟)It was a Saturday in May.It was my third Mother’s Day.The air was warm, the sun was bright, and I spent the morning leisurely drinking coffee and getting ready with my daughter. My husband returned home from his shopping trip, giving me a Mother’s Day gift.
Afterward,I needed to head out and go to the grocery store. But I decided to take my daughter to play at the park first. She ran and played until she grew sticky with sweat and exhaustion (筋疲力尽).At that moment,I realized I had forgotten to pack any snacks. So I promised her I would buy her snacks at the store.
Thirty minutes later,we parked and headed in.I kept thinking about the gift my husband had given me,a dress for my cousin’s wedding the following month. My daughter was going to be the flower girl, and we still didn’t have a dress picked out for her.So I decided to check out the children’s clothes next door before buying groceries. In my excitement,I’d forgotten about the promised snacks. However,my daughter hadn’t.
We just spent two minutes looking at the girl’s section before my daughter began to scream. It felt as if her lungs could break glass and puncture (刺穿) the eardrums of everyone inside.I tried to help her calm down and allow us to look a little longer, but her scream deepened in volume.
We quickly made our way out of the store, with eyes following us as my daughter proved her vocal strength. We stopped just outside of the doors because my daughter began to lie on the floor and scream her heart out as the rest of the world looked on.Really,it was embarrassing and frustrating (令人沮丧的).
Just then,a grandma approached us.She wanted to pick up my sad daughter and comfort her.I had done that before, but at this point,my daughter was too far gone. She didn’t want anyone when she was angry. The grandma offered to hug her,but she refused and cried harder.

Ⅰ.阅读理解(每小题2.5分,共30分)
(2025·嘉兴高三模拟)I have always been proud of my handwriting,a skill I was taught in grade school. The teacher was teaching us the Palmer Penmanship Method, drilling into us the importance of forming big flowing lines when we wrote g’s and s’s as well as beautiful f’s that in my mind were like fairy tale princesses wearing fancy hats while extending their right foot.We were strictly prohibited from using block letters on our homework,as they lack the beauty.
Now it becomes apparent that young people no longer learn cursive (草书).They type everything mostly on their phones.Beautiful handwriting is a thing of the past. This has become a source of great sadness among traditionalists.
But recently something happened that shook my faith in cursive. To my complete disbelief, not one but two of my close friends complained about the handwriting on my postcards. They were grateful for the beautiful postcards I regularly sent, but they said they honestly couldn’t read a thing I had written. One friend went so far as to ask if I could use block letters next time so that she could understand what I was writing.
Initially,I was angry.I had made the effort to cover an entire postcard with what I viewed as not just handwriting but calligraphy. But then I showed an English friend a postcard I’d just written, and he said that the only thing that was readily understandable was the letters “U.S.A.” The rest of it,he politely suggested, looked like “chicken scrawl”.
Looking at the postcard dispassionately,I unwillingly admit that he has a point. All the m’s and n’s run together, and the l’s look like t’s.The a’s are indistinguishable from the q’s.So,from now on,I’m taking their advice and using block letters to communicate.
In fact,I just now sent an old friend a postcard. But this time,I simply wrote—in big block letters:
DEAR ALICE:
HI.
JOE.
I hope she gets the message.
1.What do we know about the Palmer Penmanship Method
It is characterized by big flowing lines.
It is rarely appreciated by traditionalists.
It was not allowed in students’ homework.
It is viewed as a trend in handwriting styles.
2.What weakened the writer’s belief in cursive
The popularity of block letters in recent times.
The younger generation’s disinterest in cursive.
His friends’ failure to comprehend his postcards.
His English friend’s suggestion on postcard design.
3.Why did the writer switch to block letters for communication
To deliver his message clearly. To improve his handwriting skills.
To win praise from his friends. To show his passion for calligraphy.
4.What is the text mainly about
The wide use of cursive. The sad decline of cursive.
The value of preserving cursive. The technique of writing in cursive.
(2025·佛山高三模拟)Initial conversations can have a huge impact on how relationships develop over time.People are often stuck in the impressions they think they might have made the minute they finish speaking with someone for the first time:“Did they like me or were they just being polite ” “Were they deep in thought or deeply bored ”
To find out whether these worries are necessary,we have conducted nearly 10 years of research. In our studies, participants in the UK talked with someone they had never met before.Afterward, they were asked how much they liked their conversation partner and how much they believed that their conversation partner liked them. This allowed us to compare how much people believed they were liked to how much they were actually liked.
Time and time again,we found that people left their conversations with negative feelings about the impression they made. That is,people systematically underestimate how much their conversation partners like them and enjoy their company—a false belief we call the “liking gap”.
This bias (偏见) may seem like something that would occur only in initial interactions, but its effects extend far beyond a first impression.Surprisingly, the liking gap can constantly affect a variety of relationships, including interactions with coworkers, long after the initial conversations have taken place.Having a larger liking gap is associated with being less willing to ask workmates for help, less willing to provide workmates with open and honest feedback, and less willing to work on another project together.
There are numerous strategies to minimize your biased feelings. One place to start is shifting your focus of attention.Try to direct your attention to your conversation partner,be genuinely curious about them, ask them more questions, and really listen to their answers. The more you’re zeroed in on the other person, and the less you’re focused on yourself, the better your conversation will be and the less your mind will turn to all the things you think you didn’t do well.
5.Why did the author carry out 10 years of research
To dismiss national concerns. To check out a potential bias.
To enhance human communication. To develop harmonious relationships.
6.What is one effect of people’s liking gap
Fewer chances of new projects. Underestimation of their ability.
Bad relationships with people around. Low willingness to interact with others.
7.What does the author intend to do in the last paragraph
Restate opinions. Deliver warnings.
Give suggestions. Make a summary.
8.Which might be the best title for the text
Liking Gap May Influence Work Performances
First Impressions Rely On Initial Conversations
People Probably Like You More Than You Think
How People Like You Matters Less Than You Assume
(2025·吉林高三模拟三)It wasn’t until after I graduated from college, and realized that there’s no such thing as all-encompassing (包罗万象的) knowledge, that I was able to read for pleasure.A sense of curiosity directed me and I started to see dictionaries as field guides to the life of language.Looking up words felt less like a failing than an admission that there are lots of things I don’t know and an opportunity to discover just how many.
I prize my 1954 copy of Webster’s New International Dictionary,Second Edition.I often consult it,during evening games of Scrabble or midday magazine reading. When I come across unfamiliar words while reading novels,I look them up.When I start encountering these words elsewhere, the linguistic (语言的) universe seems to shrink to the size of a small town.
Dictionaries heighten my senses:They direct my attention into a conversation with language. They make me wonder what other things I’m blind to because I haven’t taught myself to notice them yet.Recently spotted examples include “orrery”—a mechanical model, usually clockwork, devised to represent the motions of the moon and Earth (and sometimes also other planets) around the sun.The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) also tells me that the word comes from the fourth Earl of Orrery, for whom a copy of the first machine was made, around 1 700.Useful Obviously not.Satisfying Deeply.
Web browsers answer questions with more questions, opening up pages you never asked for.But a dictionary builds on common knowledge, using simple words to explain complex ones.Using one feels as if I’m prying open an oyster (蚝) rather than falling down a rabbit hole. Why leave solvable mysteries up to guesswork
For me,dictionaries are a door into that kind of uncalculated knowledge-seeking.They remind me that following your curiosity instead of brushing it aside is one of the best ways I know to feel connected to more than what’s right in front of you.
9.What can we know about the author
He merely read for fun before graduation.
He longed to learn about all knowledge.
He considered dictionaries chances of enrichment.
He admitted being a failure when learning languages.
10.Why does the author mention the example of “orrery” in paragraph 3
To introduce a word. To indicate a finding.
To clarify a concept. To support a statement.
11.What does the underlined part in paragraph 4 refer to
Encountering new problems. Entering a different world.
Acquiring essential common sense. Simplifying tough questions.
12.According to the passage, which of the following can best describe dictionaries
Jaw-dropping. Eye-opening.
Mind-numbing. Labour-saving.
Ⅱ.七选五(每小题2.5分,共12.5分)
(2025·乐清知临中学高三模拟)With the development of computers, increasing students type with a greater-than-ever reliance on them to take notes and write papers. 1 Some parents of younger students are dismayed that their children are not just encouraged but required to take laptops to class.Additionally, university professors complain of rampant (泛滥的) distraction in classrooms, with students reading and messaging instead of listening to lectures.
A line of research shows the benefits of an “innovation” that predates computers:handwriting. 2 It includes helping students recall a random series of words and grasp complicated concepts better. For rote (死记硬背) learning, from the shapes of letters to the irregularity of English spelling, the benefits of handwriting lie in how the motor and sensory memory of putting words on paper reinforces that material.
One of the best-demonstrated advantages of handwriting seems to be in superior note taking. In a study from 2014 by Pam Mueller and Danny Oppenheimer, students typing wrote down almost twice as many words and more passages word for word from lectures. 3 Instead, handwriting which takes longer for nearly all university-level students forces note takers to transform ideas into their own words. 4
Many studies have confirmed handwriting’s benefits, and policymakers have taken note. 5 In Sweden there is a push for more handwriting books and fewer devices.
Although nearly all will eventually need typing skills,in an age of typing, handwriting still matters.
A.Studies have found that handwriting can improve everything.
B.This aids conceptual understanding at the moment of writing.
C.But today a different debate is raging about the dangers of typing.
D.It suggested they didn’t understand the material so much as parrot (鹦鹉学舌) it.
E.However, several schools in America have gone so far to ban most laptops.
F.Especially, studies have found that writing on paper can better students’ performance.
G.For instance, about half the states in America have commanded more teaching of handwriting instruction.

[分析] 这是一个并列复合句。连词but连接两个并列句。在第一个并列句中定语从句I regularly sent修饰先行词postcards;在第二个并列句中they honestly couldn’t read a thing作动词said的宾语;定语从句I had written修饰先行词thing。 [译文] 他们很感激我定期寄送的美丽的明信片,但他们说他们真的看不懂我写的任何话。
B Para.3:That is,people systematically underestimate how much their conversation partners like them and enjoy their company—a false belief we call the“liking gap”. [分析] 这是一个复合句。how much引导从句作动词underestimate的宾语;破折号后的a false belief we call the“liking gap”作同位语解释前面的内容;定语从句we call the“liking gap”修饰先行词belief。

(2025·潍坊高三模拟)When Param Jaggi was five years old,he had a passion to take things apart to see what was inside. He started with toys and even broke a computer, which made his parents not too pleased. As he got older,he shifted from breaking things to building things, which greatly comforted his parents. In middle school,he started working on projects in his kitchen laboratory, and his first project was making biofuels.
Although Jaggi’s parents initially thought his experiments were just a boyhood fancy,he remained determined to make a difference to the environment.Eventually, his parents came around and started supporting his dreams.Jaggi’s interest continued as he grew up,but he focused more on solving real problems, especially those related to the environment.
At 17,Jaggi went beyond his school projects and co-founded Ecoviate,a company that uses technology to solve everyday energy and environmental problems. He planned to transform people’s idea that going green is expensive,by making available a series of affordable products that are easy to use.Through Ecoviate,he designed products that could contribute to a greener future. One of his notable inventions was the “CO2ube”,a device that could be attached to vehicle tailpipes to reduce carbon emissions, and it’s available to many people at low prices. He also created a smartwatch that changed body heat into energy, which can be used to power up the watch as well as mobile phones.
Young Jaggi, now a third-grade college student studying engineering and economics, has become a famous eco-innovator and his company is developing promisingly. However,Jaggi’s vision to save the environment goes beyond creating products. He plans to launch an online platform through Ecoviate, which will encourage young students interested in science and technology to get actively involved in innovation and invention.Students can submit a science project online, and talk about the help that they need to make the project a reality.

(2025·八省联考)Want to learn a new language or get A’s in college exams Previous studies have shown that exercise can help stimulate the areas of the brain that convert (转换) new information into long-term memory.A new study has taken this information one step further and found the best time when exercise can help maximize learning.
Building upon past research that found exercise releases biochemicals that improve mental function, scientists at Radboud University and the University of Edinburgh conducted a study to determine when exercise was most beneficial to learning.
Participants—72 healthy male and female adults—were first asked to perform a computer test that challenged their visual and spatial learning. After the test, all of the subjects watched nature documentaries, but two-thirds of them also exercised.Half of the exercisers did circuit training on an exercise bike for 35 minutes immediately after the test. The other half did the same exercise but not until four hours after they had been tested.
Two days later, all of the participants returned to the lab for a recall test, and they were connected to MRI (磁共振成像) machines to assess their brain activity. The participants who exercised four hours after taking the computer test were able to recall what they had learned most accurately.Their brainwaves also showed more consistent levels of activity, indicating that their brains were less taxed to remember what they had learned.
According to this research, the best time to exercise to improve learning is four hours after studying. But why That’s one question the researchers have yet to answer.Another question left unanswered is the level of exercise that might best improve learning.I’ve run enough marathons to prove the fact that my brain is anything but sharp during or after a tough workout. But the researchers noted that light workouts might not give the brain enough of a biochemical boost to improve learning.
8.What did the new study aim to explore
When exercise is best for learning. What biochemicals are good for health.
How brainwaves should be measured. Which area of the brain is the most active.
9.What were all the participants asked to do during the experiment
Train on bicycles. Do mathematics exercises.
Play computer games. Watch films about nature.
10.Why did the participants return to the lab two days later
To do a medical examination. To have their memory tested.
To get their workouts recorded. To finish their previous tasks.
11.What might the author’s marathon running prove
The findings of the study are reliable.
Long-distance runners are often smart.
Studies on the marathon are not enough.
Hard exercise may not sharpen the brain.

(2025·长沙高三模拟)If you recognize yourself as someone who often experiences social anxiety and are wondering what steps you can take to reduce the frequency of these experiences, the key lies in being proactive. 1 Thus the focus should be to learn how to deal with them.
2 By acting as a protective buffer (缓冲物)against disease and psychological disturbance, doing workouts is one reliable way to strengthen internal resources.Workouts promote the experience of positive emotions, which in turn helps build us up.
Mindfulness is another superpower that can help store internal resources. If engaging in a regular practice, users can expect a series of positive outcomes.Even 10 minutes a day of mindfulness practice can dramatically improve both physical and psychological functioning. The beauty of mindfulness is that it does not have to be practiced only in a formal way. 3
Sometimes,in order to reduce the negative effects of anxiety, you might want to look more closely at patterns of thinking. When we consider that the autonomic nervous system is enabled and symptoms (症状) of anxiety occur,we interpret an event as being stressful. 4 When this happens, engaging in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can be a real game changer.CBT,one of the most effective treatments for mental health problems,is often used as a treatment for anxiety. 5 Useful CBT techniques include writing down thoughts and then gently challenging the truth of them, and learning positive ways such as cognitive reframing (认知重建).
A.However, this may not always be on point.
B.It’s impossible to avoid stressful events, actually.
C.You can experiment with it to make a final decision.
D.Regular exercise benefits both physical and mental health.
