There is much debate nowadays as to what makes up a healthy diet. For example, scientists have thought for years that a big enemy of health is fatty food. However, there is increasing evidence (证据) that the real driver of poor health is not so much fatty food, as it is sugar. In America, people who receive 25% of their daily calories or more
through sugar are twice as likely to die from heart disease than people who receive less than 10% a day. The American Heart Association recommends that we limit ourselves to less than 100-150 calories a day from sugar, which is less than what is usually contained in one can of sweet drink or in a single candy bar.
Finally, a fundamental key to healthy eating is to eat slowly. It takes about twenty minutes from the time you start eating for your brain to tell your body that you are full. What this means is that people who chew too quickly end up eating too much food because they still feel hungry. Eating slowly also allows your body to digest your food better, and will allow you to enjoy your food more. In addition, studies show that consistent eating habits, for example, taking three meals a
day at the same time each day, are better for our health. It is also better to eat a modest (适中的) amount of food each time, rather than to eat a lot in one meal, and then a little in the next.
There is no trick to healthy eating. Rather, healthy eating starts with having a healthy attitude towards food. One question you can ask yourself is, “Do I eat to live, or live to eat?” If you are using food mostly for nutrition, then you are on the right track with your diet.
However, if food has become the centre of your life, you might be on the road to bad health. It is up to you to decide how you want to live, and to make the right decisions about your diet.

Many schools now serve breakfast as well as lunch. A lot of kids who take part can end up eating two breakfasts — one at home and one at school. People are concerned that these kids may become overweight. In fact, Marlene Schwartz, a psychologist who studies the phenomenon (现象) of overweight, notes that's not what her data has shown in her new study.
Her group studied some 600 middle school students. Over three years, students in fifth, sixth and seventh grades were asked about their breakfast. Throughout the study about 34 to 44 percent of all students said they regularly ate breakfast at home. Up to 17 percent or almost one in every six kids regularly ate breakfast at school. Overall, about one in every 10 kids reported having breakfast both at home and at school. And eating habits changed somewhat as the kids got older.
Surprisingly, at every age, kids who ate breakfast were less likely to be overweight. This was true even for those who ate breakfast at home and at school. Indeed, the study found no evidence of greater weight gain among students who ate double breakfasts. Rather, it found that students who skipped breakfast were those most likely to be overweight.
Skipping breakfast may set people to be over-hungry later in the day. Then someone may eat more food than his body needs. It might take the brain longer to realize “you have enough food and can stop eating now”. If true, skipping breakfast may actually lead a person to consume too many calories (卡路里) over the rest of the day.
“Earlier studies have shown this to be the case. The total calories taken in 24 hours are less when you eat a good breakfast,” says Diana Cutts, who works at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. “Eating healthily in the morning is really what you need to have energy. Skipping breakfast is not good for your body and brain.”

6.What may cause overweight in children who skip breakfast
A.The poor function of the body.
B.Eating too much later in the day.
C.Eating too much unhealthy food.
D.Lack of calory-burning exercise.
√
7.What do Diana Cutts' words tell us
A.The importance of energy.
B.The harm of calory intake.
C.The harm of light breakfast.
D.The importance of breakfast.
√
8.What does the passage mainly talk about
A.Causes of childhood overweight.
B.Ways to keep a healthy weight.
C.Skipping breakfast may lead to overweight.
D.Eating double breakfasts is healthier.
√
Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important festivals in the Chinese calendar. The festival typically involves family getting together to share mooncakes while watching the moon. Typical Chinese mooncakes are round in shape, and measure around 10cm in diameter and 4-5cm in thickness. Most mooncakes consist of a thin tender skin enveloping a sweet and dense filling.
9 It is a custom for housewives to prepare mooncakes at home when the festival is approaching. Now let's learn to make traditional Chinese mooncakes.
Above all, full preparations should be made, including materials such as flour, water, sugar and vegetable oil, and fillings — the lotus seed paste and eggs. Mix together all the materials to get a dough (生面团). 10
Next, separate the egg yolks from the whites and salt the steamed yolks. While the oven is preheated to 180 degrees Celsius, roll the lotus paste and the dough into small balls. 11
Then, shape up with each consisting of a dough wrapper, one ball of the lotus paste, and half of a salted egg yolk. Make a hole in a ball of the lotus paste and put the yolk inside. Similarly, cover the ball (with the yolk inside) with a wrapper. 12 Then shape it with the mold (模具).
13 Take them out after 5 minutes and brush them with the egg wash. Put the mooncakes back until they become golden brown.
Remember to wait for two days to eat the mooncakes when they will be soft and also look shiny.
A.A mooncake ball is made.
B.Prepare the salted egg yolks.
C.Finally, put all mooncakes into the oven.
D.Flatten each piece of dough into a thin wrapper.
E.There're many stories about mooncakes and Chang'e.
F . Mooncakes are the must-eat food for Mid-Autumn Festival.
G.Covered with plastic wrap, it should be set aside for at least 3 hours.
9.选F 空后讲到了“It is a custom for housewives to prepare mooncakes ...”,故可推知空处也应该会讲到月饼对于中秋节的重要意义,故F项符合语境。
G项中的it指代空前的 a dough。
11.选D 根据空前一句中的“roll the lotus paste and the dough into small balls”并结合常识可知,空处应该会讲到擀皮,故D项符合语境。
12.选A 根据空前的描述和空后一句“Then shape it with the mold (模具).”
