1.How does the author support his idea in Paragraph 4
2.How do you understand “walls” in the fourth paragraph
1.Given that Neil Armstrong wanted to take a football to the Moon, we could even say that it is also the most popular sport out of this world!
2.All over the world you can see kids playing to their hearts' content with a ball made of plastic bags; just like Pelé did when he was a boy.
3.It breaks down walls and brings people together on and off the field.
She didn't even call to say she wasn't coming.
________________________________________________________________________
John wanted a week's vacation so he could go to the lake and fish ______________________.
This ______________________ to communication and helped him build some good professional relationships.
1.Given that Neil Armstrong wanted to take a football to the Moon, we could even say that it is also the most popular sport out of this world!
2.Football as we know it today started in Great Britain, where the game was given new rules.
3.You do not have to be a fan to recognise the skill of professional players — how they use their bodies to pass, score and defend can be amazing to see — or to feel the excitement of a game ending with a surprising twist.
①____________________________, I'm sure teaching is the right career for her.

④__________________ is not clear.

⑤The lady __________________________________________________ is our English
teacher.
“Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, ...” said Bill Shankly, the famous footballer and manager.
What's more, football has become one of the best ways for people to communicate: it does not require words, but everyone understands it. It breaks down walls and brings people together on and off the field. Take, for example, the famous football game on Christmas Day 1914.
________________, knowing these good table manners will help you make a good impression. __________________, while enjoying the meal, you need to avoid making noises while chewing food.
Finding a balance: my tai chi experience
When my friend first suggested that we join the new Tai Chi Club at school, I hesitated. I always believed tai chi was for old people. After the first class, however, I had to admit that I had been wrong about tai chi. It was amazing! One year later, I can honestly say it has had a huge effect on me physically and mentally. Just as importantly, practising tai chi has inspired me to explore the Chinese culture behind it.
The first few tai chi classes were fun and easy, and the moves really caught my imagination, with descriptive names like “white crane spreading its wings” and “golden rooster standing on one leg”.When I asked my coach where these interesting names came from, he told me about the history of tai chi. Zhang Sanfeng, a 13th century Taoist, was said to have invented tai chi after drawing inspiration from a fight between a snake and a bird. However, nowadays people tend to believe that Chen Wangting, a 17th century master of Chinese martial arts, developed tai chi based on martial arts skills. No wonder some tai chi moves are named after animals — Chinese martial arts have a long standing practice of imitating animals.
After learning the basics of tai chi in those first few classes, doing the same moves over and over again. Luckily, my coach taught me how to relax my muscles and focus on peace of mind while performing the routine. found to my satisfaction that my balance and flexibility slowly improved, that I was able to do more difficult moves, and that my love for tai chi returned stronger than ever.
In time, I began to look into the ancient Chinese culture behind tai chi. I discovered that tai chi is deeply rooted in the Chinese philosophy of yin and yang, which are believed to form the unity of opposites. Neither can exist independent of the other; for example, there is no shadow without light. The practice of tai chi aims to maintain the balance of yin and yang in the body through opposite movements: forwards and backwards, up and down, left and right, breathing in and breathing out. Eventually, tai chi brings about a state of physical balance and mental peace.
A year of practising tai chi has had a positive effect on my everyday life. I sleep better at night, and I am more energetic during the day. I feel happier and more confident. Tai chi has taught me to relax my mind, enabling me to stay cool in stressful situations. I am sure I will continue to practise tai chi and enjoy the benefits it has brought me.

A
I loved sports and I dreamed of being a star athlete in high school. However, something happened on one winter morning when I was playing a basketball game for my rural league team.
I was having a pretty good game. But then I remembered falling and screaming for help. I didn't know what was wrong with me. I looked at my leg and it seemed as if I broke it. I was taken to the hospital immediately in an ambulance and then was diagnosed with a dislocated patella
My patella was not put back into place for a few hours because the doctors needed to make sure nothing else was damaged. For a 16-year-old boy, it was a lot to take in. I kept asking different questions, like “How does this heal?” “Will I need surgery?”. I headed home later with some medicine to relieve my pain and an appointment to see a doctor.
Through my doctor's visit, I learned that it was the way my own body was built that caused my patella to dislocate. A combination of things like the angles of my body, ligaments (韧带) were too tight in some places and too loose in others, and the fact there was no groove (凹槽) for my patella to sit in. I needed a series of surgeries and six-month physical treatment to recover. I kept going and eventually I went back to playing sports with a brace on.
Today, I am feeling much better and both of my knees have remained healthy. I have to continue to keep them strong, though, in order for the surgeries to continue working properly. I can't say that my confidence is totally back because I will always have the fear of something happening. But I am ready to face difficulties or challenges in the future.

Teenagers' fitness is now a major concern, and physical exercise is very important. It reduces stress and improves fitness. Exercise makes your body strong, and helps you to keep the right body weight. Sports scientist Dr Helen Lopez offers the following advice to teenagers: “First, you need to find out your present level of fitness. Then you can design a programme that will help you become healthier.”
Dr Lopez suggests that there are three levels of fitness that need a change of lifestyle. “Overweight” means that the person gets very little exercise and often has a serious weight problem. “Inactive” means that the person does not join in many physical activities, but is not seriously overweight. “Active” refers to people who take part in sports and other physical activities, but do not have a high fitness level.
According to Dr Lopez, overweight teenagers should work out to keep healthy. “Ride a bike, play volleyball or basketball for a while, and go for a twenty-minute walk each day. All these will help to burn calories.” Inactive teenagers should do similar activities, but add some bending and stretching exercises, such as push-ups and sit-ups, starting with twenty of each a day. “Inactive people can take a little more exercise than overweight people because their bodies are stronger,”Dr Lopez said. The same rule applies to active teenagers.
Dr Lopez suggests one hour a week or more on running and other forms of intensive exercise, together with fifteen minutes a day spent on stretching and bending activities. “These are really important in order to prevent injuries,” Dr Lopez said. Some weight-training and other body-strengthening exercises could also be planned in the programme in order to increase the person's strength.

Sportsmanship isn't just about shaking hands after the game. It's about helping young athletes enjoy the spirit of competition, deal with adversity. 9
Character is a word that gets used often, but its true meaning may be hard to explain to a young mind. 10 By raising standards early, an athlete can both give and expect mutual respect during his course of competition.
One way to teach the idea of sportsmanship is to let the athletes know that they should do their personal best and to treat teammates and opponents in the same fashion they wish to be treated. 11 It also helps them off the field as well.
It's important to the young athletes to understand that for as many victories as they hope to have, they must face losing if they're going to play their sport. An effective method is to have a young athlete pick out well-known popular athletes, particularly in his sport or sports of interest, and look up their statistics. 12
13 Practice and skill building should be offset by times of goofing off (偷懒), perhaps practicing with crazy costumes or with fun music, and not coaching in the traditional sense. This one little thing can do wonders in reminding the athletes not to take anything too seriously and to have fun doing what they have chosen to participate in.
A.Sports are designed to be enjoyable.
B.Having sports is a course of sweat and tears.
C.Sport is a matter of failure and success to some degree.
D.It's ultimately a choice to hold oneself to a higher standard.
E.This age-old idea will help them become a respected competitor.
F.Here are tips to young players' sportsmanship and prepare them for their future life.
G.Knowing professional athletes have faced defeat can teach the young competitor to face loss graciously.

For a 16 year old boy, it was a lot to take in.
I needed a series of surgeries and six month physical treatment to recover.

“Ride a bike, play volleyball or basketball for a while, and go for a twenty minute walk each day. All these will help to burn calories.” Inactive teenagers should do similar activities, but add some bending and stretching exercises, such as push ups and sit ups, starting with twenty of each a day.
Some weight training and other body strengthening exercises could also be planned in the programme in order to increase the person's strength.
