To help people live healthier lives, China has started a special “Weight Management Year—(体重管理年).” The government is opening more “weight - losing places” in hospitals. With the help of doctors, food experts, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in these places, people can lose weight safely.
More than half of Chinese adults are now too heavy. If nothing changes, this number could go up to 70% by 2030. Being too heavy can cause health problems. To solve this, China began a three-year activity in 2024.
There are more and more sports parks and walking roads in many cities. People are exercising outdoors more often. Eating habits are changing too. New eating guides suggest healthy choices like steamed fish with vegetables in central China, fresh seafood in the south, and salads for office workers. Even traditional moon cakes are now smaller and healthier.
Doctors put old Chinese ways of cooking together with modern science. For example, Shaanxi noodles now have more vegetables and tofu. Spending time alone in nature can be pretty good for health, but nature can also bring us closer to others. Heading for a walk through a local park can give you a chance to talk in a way that’s easier than facing each other over a table in a cafe. You can enjoy both the advantages of being outdoors while also spending good time with others together.
“It’s easy to connect with people when you’re walking in nature because you don’t have to give them eye communication—you can walk side by side and talk about what you’re seeing”, explains Dr. Tara Quinn-Cirillo, who runs a walk-and-talk group in her town and has seen the difference it makes. “Walking together takes away the stress of feeling we have to talk. Conversation goes on more naturally. It can also have a good influence on how you connect with other people—how you’re able to hear them, to reply, and to listen.”
Nature offers us chances to try something new and make memories together with our family and friends. I think about this autumn, how my husband and I got up on the dark, cold early morning to join a group at a wetland’s centre to watch thousands of pink-footed geese (斑脚雁). It was a magical moment, and one that was so valuable to us as a couple. And how about bringing friends together for a picnic And why not invite someone around to help you plant flowers one afternoon
Nature also gives us the chance to connect meaningfully with people we may not know. Dr. Tara points out that joining in a community project can be a way to help deal with loneliness and meet new people. Is can be useful to think back to your values around nature, here; do what you want to help save a local forest, or volunteer at a community garden
23.Why does Dr. Tara think it’s easy to connect with people when walking in nature
A. Because we want eye communication.
B. Because we may talk anything we like.
C. Because we feel less stressed to talk.
24.How does the writer develop Paragraph 3
A. By using pictures.
B. By giving examples.
C. By explaining the meaning.
25.What is the advantage of joining in a community project in the last paragraph
A. Meeting new people.
B. Trying something strange.
C. Improving your health.
26.Which is the best title of this passage
A. Spend Time Outdoors Alone
B. Make Memories with Loved Ones
C. Connect with Others in Nature

29.Forty years ago, my grandparents wrote letters to their friends and family. Grandpa worked in the city and Grandma lived in the country, so they wrote to each other. It took one week to deliver the letter. When Grandma asked question in her letter, it took her two weeks to get the answer! If there was anything urgent, they needed to send telegrams.
The telephone became popular in the early 1990s. But my dad’s family did not have a telephone until 1998. Although it was much faster than writing letters, it was still inconvenient. Once Dad arrived home late because he helped a granny on his way. My grandparents were so worried about him because he could not call them and tell them what happened. This never happened again after my dad bought his first mobile phone in 2002.
My favourite communication tool is the mobile phone. I have used it since my thirteenth birthday. My parents and friends can find me wherever I am. It is very convenient, but at the same time it is easy to be interrupted especially when I want to be alone. Sometimes I have headaches after talking on the mobile phone for a long time.

Dear John,
How is everything going I’m writing to introduce our school’s annual Chinese Traditional Art Exhibition to you.
In order to promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture, our school held the annual traditional Chinese culture exhibition and evaluation activities at the school hall on May 16th, including paper-cutting, painting, poetry competition and so on. Among all the activities, I like the Chinese Poetry Contest best. And I won the third prize in the contest. These activities not only cultivated the habit of learning traditional culture, but also aroused the interest in it. What’s more, we benefited a lot from them.
I hope you will come next year and your participation will make a difference.
Yours,
Li Hua
