W:①②So what do you think you are going to do when you graduate, John
M:I'm not sure.My dad says I should work on information technology.I know something with computers.
W:Is that what your dad does
M:Not really.He is an engineer.
W:How about you What are you interested in doing
M:Well, I'm interested in astronomy. ②I'd love to be an astronaut.
W:Yeah, what subject are you good at
M:Maths is my best subject. And I'm also pretty good at science.

W:Today we are very pleased to chat with Mr Yang Liwei, the first Chinese astronaut.Welcome to the show, Mr Yang.
M:Thank you.
W:Mr Yang, our audience is very curious about how you succeeded in becoming China's first astronaut. It must have been a very difficult thing to achieve.Did you always want to be an astronaut
M:Yes, I dreamt of it when I was young, but I never thought my wish would come true.It took a long time.First, I got my college degree when I was 22, and then I worked as a fighter pilot for around 10 years.I finally became China's first astronaut when I was 38 years old.
W:Oh, so you must be a really experienced pilot.Do you think that was one of the reasons why you were chosen for the space programme
M:Sure, I had 1,350 hours of flight experience, which I think really helped me.
W:So how difficult was it to join the space programme
M:There was a lot of competition.Altogether, 14 of us were chosen from among 1,500 pilots to train for space flights.
W:That sounds really difficult. As we all know, an astronaut needs to be healthy and calm in order to work in space. But you also had to study a lot, too, right
M:Yes.I had to learn English, science, and astronomy.I also had to practise using space equipment, and do a lot of mental and physical training. It was very tiring, but I was so proud to have the opportunity.

W:Hello, Captain Brown! You're back on Earth now.Are you happy to be back
M:Well, yes and no.It's great to see my family again, but I also miss the International Space Station.
W:So let me ask about the space station. Was eating in space difficult
M:Not really. We don't have to cook in space. We choose what we want to eat before we go to space, and then the food is prepared and stored for us.We just have to heat the food and enjoy it.
W:Cool! Well, I know astronauts cannot shower in space since the water would float away, so I'd love to know how you keep yourselves clean.
M:Oh, we use a soapy towel to wash. And we brush our teeth the same way as we do on Earth. But astronauts usually swallow their toothpaste.
W:Gosh.I hope it tasted good! Did you have any free time Do astronauts get time off
M:Yes. When I was free, I played the guitar. That's right — I took my guitar with me. I also played chess. My favourite thing to do, though, was to have my weekly video call with my family.

One time, the teachers at a school wanted to teach the students about airplanes. While all airplanes can fly, some are able to fly farther than others. This is because not all airplanes are built the same. The teachers wondered how they could make students understand this.
Then, the science teacher, Mr Moose, decided that the school should have a paper airplane contest. Every student would design a paper airplane. They would stand in a line in the playground behind the school and take turns throwing their paper airplanes. The student whose paper airplane went the farthest would win.
When Mr Moose announced the paper airplane contest to the students, they were very excited. A student named Paul, who was on the wrestling (摔跤) team, bragged to everyone else that his airplane would win.
However, another student, Brian, was thinking how he could win. Brian did not play any sports and was not very strong. But he loved airplanes and really wanted to win the contest.
Brian realized what he had to do. He went to the store and bought a big stack of paper. When he got home he took the paper into his backyard. He took a piece of paper and folded a paper airplane. It didn't go very far, so Brian took another sheet and folded another paper airplane and threw it. This paper airplane went a little farther. Brian kept folding different kinds of paper airplanes and throwing them. Some went very far and some did not. Finally, when Brian had used all the paper, he walked up to the paper airplane that had flown the farthest and picked it up.
The next day was the contest. All the students lined up. Everyone took turns. After a while, everyone had thrown except Paul and Brian. Paul went first. With a mighty yell, he launched the paper airplane into the sky. It went farther than every other paper airplane. Everyone clapped.
Finally, it was Brian's turn. Brian took the paper airplane that he had picked up the day before. He walked up to the line and, with all his strength, he threw the paper airplane.
Questions: What happened Did Brian win the contest Why
The paper airplane went flying, farther and farther, until finally it landed — 10 feet past Paul's paper airplane! The whole school cheered. Brian was the winner. Mr Moose gave him a prize: a toy airplane.Brian won because he tried out many solutions to the problem of how to make an paper airplane fly very far. He did this by testing out many different designs and comparing the results. When he found the design that worked best — the paper airplane that flew the farthest — he used it. Because Brian tried a lot of designs, he was able to make up for his lack of strength and beat Paul.3 / 3
