“海上丝绸之路”是古代中国开展对外交通贸易、文化交往的重要海上通道,带动了不同文化的交流碰撞,推动了世界的进步和发展。 今天,作为“一带一路”倡议的组成部分,“21世纪海上丝绸之路”让郑和曾经走过的古代海上航线再度受到关注。
In ancient times, silk from China found its way overland to India, the Middle East, and Rome, A trading route across the sea was also extended along the coasts of the Indian Ocean, centred around Ceylon (now Sri Lanka). Here, merchants from China and many other places met to negotiate trade deals, which also led to more awareness of each other's cultures.Over the centuries, further trading allowed more exploration of the regions to the west of China, as recorded in Du Huan's Record of My Travels in the eighth century.
Later, the Ming Dynasty further developed relations with these regions.Between 1405 and 1433, seven large fleets sailed west on voyages of trade and exploration. These fleets were a sight to behold and were in a league of their own at that time.Under the command of Zheng He, they set sail from the South China Sea across the Indian Ocean to the mouth of the Red Sea, and then to the east coast of Africa.African royal families sent gifts such as giraffes as gestures of friendship in return for gold, silk, and spices.Although China withdrew from further expeditions after 1433, these land and sea routes remained active channels between other cultures for centuries.
Maritime Silk Road, which is part of the Belt and Road Initiative. The aim of this initiative is to encourage cooperation and trade across the historic Silk Road areas, and strengthen the bonds between China and the rest of the world.Trading has grown greatly in recent years, and will continue to do so in years to come.China has invested billions in systems and services along these routes, which will help to greatly develop the whole area for the benefit of future trade and cultural exchange.
China has also joined its friends across the sea on other important projects.Although the ancient sea routes of Zheng He have been travelled many times, there are still many other places left to explore. In recent years, China has joined other nations on several expeditions to explore the Arctic. From a scientific point of view, there is an urgent need to study the Arctic in order to understand climate change and its effects.
Hundreds of years on, and with the latest technology in hand, the need to trade and the desire to enhance relationships will drive China to reach out across the sea far into the future.

When Argentinean thinker Juan José Sebrelli visited Shanghai in the 1960s as part of a delegation (代表团) invited by the Chinese government, he wrote that the city seemed strangely familiar.
I was reading his writing before boarding a plane on my first trip to Shanghai in 2016. By that time, I was doing research at home on how South American writers, diplomats (外交官) and politicians had developed a new world outlook. The opportunity of my life appeared when I was told I was recommended as the first scholar at a research center co-built by a research council of Argentina and Shanghai University for an exchange program.
My first year living in Shanghai was full of discoveries and adventures. I was in a constant state of curiosity. Every day, I discovered, tried and learned something new. In other words, the city impressed me: Its modern architecture and the opportunities that Shanghai gave to everyone made me feel that this place was one of the most dynamic places I'd ever been to. I recognized that this city allowed both locals and foreigners to rediscover and reinvent themselves. The experience of being in touch with a different culture has enriched my way of looking at and thinking about the world.
After three years, my program at the joint center came to an end. But Shanghai had another new surprise for me: I got an offer to work as a professor in Fudan University, which is an opportunity that I couldn't refuse. Gradually, I regarded Shanghai as my second home and I fully understood the meaning of Sebrelli's writing one day walking through my favorite spots of the city on Wuyuan Road and Wulumuqi Road. Several places made me have a strange feeling: The combination of Art Deco buildings and local stands on the street created an image of my homeland. At that moment, I understood that this city, as Sebrelli wrote, “is now a part of myself”.

One of the most famous archaeological discoveries in all of history is the Terracotta Army. They were found by farmers digging for a well on the outskirts of Xi'an in 1974.Becoming a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987,the spectacular figures continue to attract millions of visitors from all over the world.Yet the excavations (发掘) are unfinished.
Famously, archaeological work at the site and the accompanying tomb of the First Qin Emperor has been allowed to slow down until technology advances enough to preserve the art works currently buried underground. In addition to this, safety concerns have been raised regarding the unusually high levels of mercury (水银) found on the soil.It is supposed that this is from the mercury streams which were inlaid in the floor of the burial chamber, but only time will tell if this ancient tale is true.
Currently 8,000 soldiers have been found, each one with a distinctively different look. This was achieved through an early use of assembly-line-type construction. The warriors were assembled with 8 different heads to choose from, and features being added with additional clay by skilled craftsmen.
Studying the warriors and their horses offers historians an important insight into this period in Chinese history. The technology used to assemble the underground army was truly remarkable.Over 40,000 bronze weapons were found, and after more than 2,000 years they still appear sharp. How is this possible? The ancient Chinese managed to use protective chrome plating (镀铬),something that was thought to have been invented in Germany in 1937!
When it is completely uncovered, the sight will truly be spectacular and much more will be understood about China's first Emperor and the level of technology the ancient Chinese possessed.

D.The technology to preserve the unearthed relics.
解析:段落大意题。本段主要讲述了放慢挖掘速度的两个原因。

7.What do we know about the Terracotta warriors from this text
A.They appear the same.
B.Every warrior is distinct.

D.They were completed by farmers.
解析:细节理解题。根据第三段可知,8 000多个兵马俑看起来各自不同。

8.What is the author's attitude towards the technology possessed by ancient Chinese

This was achieved through an early use of assembly line type construction.
