附:听力材料
(Text 1)
M:Air pollution is so bad in this city.①I think the government should stop people from driving cars on certain days.
W:You have a point, and air pollution is a problem.②But not letting people drive on certain days is a bad idea.People have to go to work by car.
M:I'm afraid I don't agree with you there.Reducing air pollution is really important.People are so used to driving that they don't think of other ways to do things. If we stop them from driving on certain days, maybe they could think of new ways to get around.
W:I see your point, ③but I still think it wouldn't be possible to stop people from driving.
M:We should have a try at least.
(Text 2)
W:The problem is that too many people create too much waste.
M:Yes, you're right, Carol. If everyone recycled more, we would reduce a lot of waste.I mean, look at the amount of paper we waste in this office. It's crazy. And it always makes me annoyed.
W:Exactly, Alex.And coffee cups, too.
M:Yes, right. If we recycled our paper and the paper cups, we would save a lot of waste.
W:That's right.And don't forget plastic.Nobody recycles their plastic water bottles.Let's do something.
M:Well, I will take the plastic bottles to the recycling center. And I'll make a collection box which people can put their water bottles in.
W:I'll make two collection boxes for paper and cans.If we put them in the kitchen, people will see them.We will save a lot of waste. We're going to make a difference.
(Text 3)
W:Good evening, everyone! Our guest is Kevin Olsen.Kevin works on a coast. His job is to rescue whales, fish and sea birds when they get into trouble with pollution.Welcome to the program, Kevin.
M:Glad to be here, thank you.
W:What do you do in your job
M:I spend a lot of time with sea animals, trying to learn what things they need in the environment. If we know that, we can help them survive in the future.
W:Can you tell us something about the disaster a short time ago
M:OK.What happened recently is the oil disaster. The birds had oil on their wings, so they couldn't fly.And they couldn't eat the fish because the fish were covered with oil.
W:Why did you choose this job It's tough since you have to work outdoors.
M:Well, I was always interested in the world of the ocean and how the plants and animals fit together in their system.
W:Thank you for coming and sharing your story with our audience, Kevin.
M:My pleasure.

主题活动 全球变暖
1.Look at the above pictures and discuss. Then talk about what causes these phenomena.
Global warming.
2.In ordinary life, what should we do about the gradually warming climate
When we travel, we should try to choose the common means of transportation instead of driving by ourselves. If the journey is not far, we can choose to walk or ride a bicycle, which not only helps us keep fit, but also enables us to do our part to protect the earth.

When I was eleven years old, I moved to Tampa, Florida. My parents traveled for a living, so Aunt Emily took care of me while they were away. One rainy morning, there was an old lady who was dressed in a bright orange coat carrying a rubbish bag and a stick.“What's that old lady doing?” I asked Emily, pointing out of the window to the street in front of the house.
Hearing my question, Emily answered, “She's picking up rubbish around here for fun.” “Oh,” I answered.“Interesting ...Why would someone think picking up rubbish is fun?” For a long time, I often saw that old lady — rain or shine — on my way to school. In the beginning, I thought she was crazy to pick up rubbish. However, I finally smiled and waved at her each time I saw her.
Later, when I moved to college, I'd see rubbish in the grass and feel really angry about it.I'd think, “Why isn't anyone picking up rubbish People are so unconcerned!” But shortly after that, I said to myself, “Why do I think picking up rubbish is someone else's duty?” And I couldn't walk past trash without feeling guilty (内疚的).
So while walking in the college, I began picking up rubbish and made sure the campus was in better shape than I previously found it.My behavior influenced some students. They started to help me out.
Like me, they also picked up rubbish whenever they noticed it.And our college became more beautiful.Seeing that, I began to think, “If I can pick up rubbish outside the college — in other places of the town, it may make a big difference to the town.”
But picking up rubbish in front of many people outside the college needs courage. It could be embarrassing. But it was the right thing to do.I decided to try it.

参考范文:
So one day I called up all my courage and collected rubbish on a nearby street. Some people watched me with a strange look that seemed to say I was crazy. And suddenly, I remembered that old lady, who often picked up rubbish years ago.The interesting thing was that I was acting just like her! As strange as it might seem, picking up rubbish is kind of fun for me! Gradually, many people realized I was volunteering to help make our town clean. They praised me and thanked me.Then I decided to encourage more students to do this in the town.
I thought if more students took part in the voluntary activity, things would be much better. We bought each student a bright orange coat with words on it:Let's make our town cleaner! And we took time to not only pick up rubbish but also sort through it and recycle it.Something amazing happened — the strangers around us helped us out too! I thought to myself, “The old lady made all this happen; she made a big difference in my life.”3 / 3
