(2025·成都模拟)It started innocently enough, as most things do. My son Nick had been eager to try rock climbing and he needed a partner. As a 45-year-old mother, I am not a physical person at all. But I still decided to join him in a training class. The first time I reached the top and returned safely to the ground, I was flooded with a mix of emotions. My body trembled with adrenaline (肾上腺素), as I had pushed myself harder than I ever thought possible, but I had accomplished it.
Four months into my climbing journey, I had an accident while bouldering (攀岩). I'm not sure what exactly happened, but I believe, my foot missed a hold on the way down. I didn't land properly and injured my lower back. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I feared that I would never return to rock climbing or bouldering and said to Nick sadly, "A piece of me would slip away. It would be forgotten and lie passive forever. I couldn't let that happen."
It took nearly three months before I felt strong enough to give it another try. Nick was supportive throughout the process. I made it halfway up, but then panic set in. I felt like I had let myself and Nick down. He reassured me, telling me not to worry, to take my time, and to try a different route when I was ready. Fifteen minutes later, I chose a different path. I kept reminding myself that I could change my mind at any time. Along the way Nick guided and encouraged me. To my surprise, I made it to the top and back to the ground safely.
Rock climbing was doing wonders for me. It has not only enhanced my physical and mental strength but also implanted in me a newfound sense of confidence. Moreover, it serves as an excellent opportunity for Nick and me to strengthen our bond, while encouraging me to explore more possibilities, embodying the spirit of pushing myself to the limits.

C.Her experience. D.Doctors' encouragement.
7.Which of the following is the best title of the text

B.Reaching for a lifelong ambition

D.Enhancing competence through bouldering
Your genes are inherited from parents and ancestors, picking up traits that help us survive and evolve with environments around us.
Much of this is encoded as natural instinct. When a baby is born, it needn't be taught how to breathe or cry —this is hard-wired into our DNA. We know that when tired we need to sleep and when hungry we need to eat. The same goes for animals. Within two hours of being born, a foal attempts its first steps with little guidance from its parent, all from instinct.
As well as our basic instincts, our genetics can carry more complex abilities, knowledge and reflexes. Findings have also hinted that our facial expressions could be hard-wired behaviors. Babies start to smile at around two — again, this isn't specifically taught. Although they may take in the expressions of people around, it's hard to test if they connect emotion to the faces they see. However, a 2019 study showed that athletes who had been born blind made the same disheartened expressions when losing as athletes with sight, suggesting that facial expressions may not be learnt from watching others.
While genetics play a part, infants are also heavily influenced during their time in the womb (子宫). Mothers who eat strong-tasting foods such as garlic can affect children's taste buds, giving them a fancy for the same tastes later in life. Taste and smell are important triggers that babies look for when first feeding, as the mother's milk will carry the same flavors experienced in the womb. This pre-birth taste sampling increases their chances of survival.
Generational memory could also explain why certain people are naturally gifted in areas like music or sport. Actually, the existence of it is hard to prove, since so many environmental and outside factors change behaviour and personality, especially with young minds, which are easily developed. However, the theory is starting to be taken more seriously, and studies involving short-generation life forms such as nematode worms are making significant breakthroughs. We may soon have undeniable proof that our genetics pass down more than we think.
8.Which of the following behavior is hard-wired into our genes
A.Learning to walk at two years old.
B.Having meals due to hunger.
C.Recognizing parents' voices after birth.
D.Using tools to solve problems.
9.What does the author imply in paragraph 3
A.Facial expressions may have a genetic basis.
B.Babies learn facial expressions from their parents.
C.Emotional responses are totally shaped by environment.
D.Blind athletes can't express emotions effectively.
10.What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about
A.The role genetics play in babies' survival.
B.Significance of taste and smell in infants' growth.
C.Infants' adaptability to food flavors in the womb.
D.Impact of pregnant mothers' diets on babies' taste preferences.
11.What can we know about generational memory
A.Environmental factors deny its existence.
B.Promising scientific studies show its significance.
C.It has been proven by existing evidence.
D.It powerfully explains people's talent.
(2025·成都模拟)A puzzling primate (灵长类动物) might be the offspring (后代) of two distantly related species. And this monkey business is worrying scientists. Six years ago, tour guide Brenden Miles was traveling down the Kinabatangan River. He was on the Southeast Asian island of Borneo. Suddenly, he spotted an odd-looking primate, so he snapped a few photos. At first, he thought it could be a silvered leaf monkey with rare coloring. But then he noticed other details: The monkey's tail was thicker than it should be, and its nose was long like that of a proboscis monkey.
Scientists have now studied those photos. They suspect that this mystery monkey is a hybrid Sometimes closely related species hybridize. This happens only occasionally in the wild. But what was especially surprising in this case is that the monkey's suspected parents a male proboscis monkey and a female silvered leaf monkey — are distant relatives. Scientists are concerned that this might signal that the creature's parent species are in trouble.
"Changes to the parent monkeys' habitat might explain a hybrid," said Nadine Ruppert, a primatologist who studied the mystery monkey. Oil palm plantations have been expanding along the Kinabatangan River. As forests turn to farmland, wildlife habitats can be harmed or lost. "In some spots, the suspected parent monkey species have been squeezed into small patches of forest along that river," Ruppert said. "Monkeys there could have to compete more for mates. In close quarters, the male of the bigger species can dominate. In this case, the proboscis male might easily displace males of the silvered leaf monkey."
The mystery monkey has made people living in the area very excited. "The hybrid is gorgeous, but we don't want to see more of them," Ruppert said. "Both proboscis monkeys and silvered leaf monkeys may lack enough food and space to behave as they would naturally." In Borneo and around the world, human activities and climate change are hurting animal habitats. As natural habitats are lost, mating between different species might increase.
12.What is the second paragraph mainly about
A.The discovery of a rare species.
B.A photographer's unusual adventure.
C.The new features of a strange primate.
D.Differences between two monkey species.
13.What can be inferred about the two suspected parent monkey species
A.They have to fight for oil palm fruit.
B.They were previously close relatives.
C.Proboscis monkeys are smaller in size.
D.Shared habitats influence their interaction.
14.What may cause hybridization according to the text
A.Natural disasters. B.Unsustainable farming.
C.Extensive deforestation. D.Competitions within the species.
15.How does Nadine Ruppert feel about the appearance of the "mystery monkey"
A.Puzzled. B.Concerned. C.Excited. D.Relieved.

Lena had always been a quiet girl who struggled to make friends. At school, whenever someone tried to talk to her, her mind would race with worries: "What if I say something wrong What if they think I'm strange " These thoughts always made her stumble over her words or give awkward replies. Once, after she accidentally gave a wrong answer in class, she heard some classmates giggling Since then, she had become even more afraid to speak up.
One rainy afternoon, while walking home from school, she noticed a small dog huddled (蜷缩) under a bush. The dog looked lost and scared, just like how she felt whenever she tried to join a conversation. It was shivering, wet, and alone. Lena crouched down and gently approached it.
The dog wagged (摇摆) its tail slightly and came closer. Lena noticed a blue collar hidden under its wet fur. Something about its trusting eyes made her heart ache. She decided to take it home. Her parents agreed to keep it temporarily while searching for its owner. Lena named the dog "Shadow" because it followed her everywhere, just like her own shadows of self-doubt.
As days passed, Lena noticed how naturally Shadow interacted with everyone. At the park, he would approach others with complete confidence and make friends effortlessly. Even when he made mistakes, like accidentally knocking over someone's water bottle, his friendly tail wag would make everyone laugh with him, not at him.
Taking Shadow for walks gave Lena unexpected friendships. Emily, a girl from her class, often came to the park with her own dog. They started talking about their pets, and soon Emily became Lena' s first real friend. Through Emily, Lena met other kids and gradually found herself part of a group that would meet at the park to play with their dogs. For the first time, she felt like she belonged.

Scientists have now studied those photos. They suspect that this mystery monkey is a hybrid (杂交物种). Sometimes closely related species hybridize. This happens only occasionally in the wild. (科学家们现在研究了这些照片。他们怀疑这只神秘的猴子是杂交的。有时近亲种杂交。这种情况在野外只会偶尔发生。)"可知,第二段主要讲的是稀有物种的发现。故选A。
Changes to the parent monkeys' habitat might explain a hybrid (母猴栖息地的变化可能解释了这只杂交猴)","In some spots, the suspected parent monkey species have been squeezed into small patches of forest along that river (在一些地方,被怀疑是母猴的物种已经被挤进了那条河沿岸的小块森林里)"和"Monkeys there could have to compete more for mates. (那里的猴子可能不得不为配偶进行更多的竞争。)"可知,共同的栖息地影响了疑似为亲本的猴子物种的相互作用。故选D。
14.推理判断题。根据第三段"As forests turn to farmland, wildlife habitats can be harmed or lost. (随着森林变成农田,野生动物栖息地可能受到损害或丧失。)"和最后一段"In Borneo and around the world, human activities and climate change are hurting animal habitats. As natural habitats are lost, mating between different species might increase. (在婆罗洲和世界各地,人类活动和气候变化正在损害动物栖息地。随着自然栖息地的丧失,不同物种之间的交配可能会增加。)"可知,大量的砍伐森林可能导致杂化,故选C。
15.推理判断题。根据最后一段"The hybrid is gorgeous, but we don't want to see more of them (这只杂交猴子很漂亮,但我们不希望看到更多这样的猴子)"和"Both proboscis monkeys and silvered leaf monkeys may lack enough food and space to behave as they would naturally. (长鼻猴和银叶猴都可能缺乏足够的食物和空间来自然地生活。)"可知,Nadine Ruppert对"神秘猴子"的出现是担忧的,故选B。

47.【答案】 One day, a woman carrying a "Lost Dog: Lucky" poster walked into the park. Lena's heart dropped when she saw Shadow's picture on the flyer. The woman rushed forward upon seeing the dog, and Shadow — whose real name was Lucky — immediately bounded towards her with excited barks. Through tears, Lena watched their reunion, but the owner, noticing her sadness, warmly invited her to visit anytime she wanted. It was a hard time for Lena but she knew it was time for Lucky to go home.
Lena and Emily began visiting Lucky every now and then. The regular visits to the woman's house became something Lena looked forward to each week. Watching Lucky play freely and confidently with other dogs helped Lena realize that she too could overcome her fears. At school, she gradually found her voice in class discussions, and even when she made mistakes, she remembered Lucky's carefree spirit. The little lost dog had taught her that the best friendships often begin when we open our hearts to others, even if it means having to let go.
Lena's heart dropped when she saw Shadow's picture on the flyer.(运用了when引导的时间状语从句);The woman rushed forward upon seeing the dog, and Shadow — whose real name was Lucky — immediately bounded towards her with excited barks.(运用了whose引导的定语从句); Through tears, Lena watched their reunion, but the owner, noticing her sadness, warmly invited her to visit anytime she wanted.(运用了现在分词短语作状语); It was a hard time for Lena but she knew it was time for Lucky to go home.
(运用了but连接的并列句以及省略了that引导的宾语从句); The regular visits to the woman's house became something Lena looked forward to each week. (运用了省略了that引导的定语从句); Watching Lucky play freely and confidently with other dogs helped Lena realize that she too could overcome her fears. (运用了动名词短语作主语以及that引导的宾语从句);At school, she gradually found her voice in class discussions, and even when she made mistakes, she remembered Lucky's carefree spirit. (运用了when引导时间状语从句);The little lost dog had taught her that the best friendships often begin when we open our hearts to others, even if it means having to let go.(运用了that引导的宾语从句,when引导的时间状语从句以及even if引导的让步状语从句)。

【答案】8.B

While genetics play a part, infants are also heavily influenced during their time in the womb (子宫). Mothers who eat strong-tasting foods such as garlic can affect children's taste buds, giving them a fancy for the same tastes later in life. Taste and smell are important triggers that babies look for when first feeding, as the mother's milk will carry the same flavors experienced in the womb. This pre-birth taste sampling increases their chances of survival.(虽然基因起了一定的作用,但婴儿在子宫里也受到了很大的影响。吃大蒜等味道浓烈的食物的母亲会影响孩子的味蕾,让他们在以后的生活中喜欢同样的味道。味觉和嗅觉是婴儿在第一次喂食时寻找的重要触发因素,因为母乳会携带与子宫内相同的味道。这种出生前的味道取样增加了他们的生存机会)"可知,全段围绕母亲孕期饮食对婴儿味觉偏好的影响展开。故选D。
11.推理判断题。根据最后一段"However, the theory is starting to be taken more seriously, and studies involving short-generation life forms such as nematode worms are making significant breakthroughs. We may soon have undeniable proof that our genetics pass down more than we think.(然而,这一理论开始得到更认真的对待,涉及短代生命形式(如线虫)的研究正在取得重大突破。我们可能很快就会有不可否认的证据表明,我们的基因比我们想象的要传递得更多)"可知,代际记忆的研究前景光明,科学界逐渐重视其意义。故选B。
四、阅读理解D
C.Excited. D.Relieved.
【答案】12.A

Dear Bob,
Delighted to know you show keen interest in Chinese students taking up hobbies again after Chinese Gaokao. As for me, I plan to return to playing the piano, which I had to set aside during my busy high school years.
Playing the piano not only helps me relax but also allows me to express my emotions through music, something I've missed dearly. To achieve this, I will start by practicing for at least 30 minutes every day, gradually increasing the time as I regain my skills. Additionally, I intend to join a local music club where I can meet other enthusiasts and participate in performances, which will motivate me to improve further.
I believe that reconnecting with my passion will bring balance to my life after the intense preparation for the Gaokao. Looking forward to sharing my progress with you!
Yours,
Li Hua

注意:1. 所续写短文的词数应为150左右;
Para 1: One day, a woman carrying a "Lost Dog: Lucky" poster walked into the park.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Para 2: Lena and Emily began visiting Lucky every now and then.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
One day, a woman carrying a "Lost Dog: Lucky" poster walked into the park.
