Ⅱ.读后续写
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It was a tradition that my sons, their wives, and our grandchildren would spend Christmas Day at our house. So we loaded Jake, our first pet dog, who was diagnosed(诊断为)with cancer, in the back seat of my car, setting out to buy things at dusk.
Our first stop was at the dollar store to pick up wrapping paper and decorations. As we approached the cashier desk, my husband said, “I'll be out in the car with Jake.” He returned a few minutes later. “Do you have the car keys ”
“No,” I responded. I searched the passages(通道) in vain before leaving the store as fast as I could. When I got back to the car, my husband was starting the engine. He told me it was our dog Jake that found the car keys. We drove to the grocery store. As we got out of the car, I reached down for my purse and fear stole over me as I realized it wasn't there. “Wait,” I cried to my husband. “My purse. I think I must have left it in the cart at the dollar store.”
My husband didn't say anything as we both climbed back in the car. Fifteen minutes later we returned to find another car now at the spot where we had previously parked. The cart was still there, but it was empty. I jumped out of the car and began searching the bushes. It didn't take long to realize my efforts were useless. My purse was gone. I started to cry.
“Are you alright, ma'am ” a woman about my age asked. I hadn't even noticed her approach me.
“I lost my purse at the dollar store, leaving it in the cart,” I stammered(结结巴巴地说). “I had over two hundred dollars in it. Even if we find it, it'll probably be empty,” I said sadly.
“I wouldn't be so sure of that. There are still some good people in the world,” she responded. “It may still show up. ”
注意:续写词数应为 150 个左右。
The woman took my hand and pressed something into my palm(手掌)before closing my hand into a fist(拳头).
When we arrived home there was a white car I didn't recognize in front of our house.

Ⅰ.1.politicians 2.bath 3.agent 4.idioms
Ⅱ.1.deal with 2.in particular 3.When it comes to 4.aside from
Ⅲ.1.loosely 考查副词。设空处修饰动词fastened,应用副词作状语,故填loosely。句意:她把腰带松松地系在腰上。
2.at 考查介词。scream at sb.
Ⅳ.1.to a certain degree 2.had a sense of achievement 3.It is difficult for me to speak 4.He learnt to dance so fast that

One possible version:
The woman took my hand and pressed something into my palm(手掌)before closing my hand into a fist(拳头). “Merry Christmas,” she whispered in my ear, disappearing into the night. I was so shocked that it took me a minute to open my hand, but when I did, I gasped. I couldn't believe it; the woman had given me two one-hundred-dollar bills. What really mattered the most to me wasn't the money, but that I had come across someone special, someone who really cared.
When we arrived home there was a white car I didn't recognize in front of our house. A stranger stood on our front porch ringing the doorbell. Not only did she find my lost purse, but she drove half an hour to bring it back to me. This Christmas was a little sad because of Jake's illness. It was also a little more special, however, thanks to the two angels, each offering kindness to a crazy woman with a sick dog. I thanked them for their gifts and kindness to me. I would try to follow their example and pass their kindness forward.
