Mauritius, an island country in the Indian Ocean, is located off the eastern coast of Africa. Here is something to let you know better about it before your trip.
  Plants and Animals
There are many kinds of native wild plant species in Mauritius even though little original forest is left. The wild animals include the sambar(a long-tailed, dark brown deer) as well as a variety of birds and insects. The island was once home to the dodo, a flightless bird that was extinct in the late 17th century.

English is the official language of Mauritius, but French and Creole are also spoken. Some other languages are also spoken by different communities.
  Sports and Entertainment
Football here claims the greatest number of participants and fans. Mauritians from all communities make winter horse racing one of the most popular and highly attended sporting activities of the year. And the Black River Gorges National Park, Trou aux Cerfs, an inactive volcano, which is now heavily forested, and the island's numerous beaches are surely great places to visit.
  Transportation and Telecommunications
Almost all roadways are paved throughout the island. Most of the country's shipping activity is conducted through port facilities at Port Louis. An international airport is located at Plaisance. In 2021, network coverage with the 5G standard was already 4.5% of all inhabitants. The proportion of the population with at least 4G mobile Internet access was 99%.

Runners in a relay race pass a stick in one direction. However, merchants passed silk, gold, fruit, and glass along the Silk Road in more than one direction. They earned their living by traveling the famous Silk Road.
The Silk Road was not a simple trading network. It passed through thousands of cities and towns. It was used from about 200 B.C. to about 1,300 A.D., when sea travel offered new routes. It was sometimes called the world's longest highway. However, the Silk Road was made up of many routes, not one smooth path. They passed through what are now 18 countries. The routes crossed mountains and deserts and had many dangers of the hot sun, deep snow and even battles. Only experienced traders could return safe and sound.
The Silk Road got its name from its most prized product. Silk could be used like money to pay taxes or buy goods. But the traders carried more than just silk. Gold, silver, and glass from Europe were much found in the Middle East and Asia. Horses traded from other areas changed farming practices in China. Indian merchants traded salt and other valuable goods. Chinese merchants traded paper, which produced an immediate effect on the West. Apples traveled from Central Asia to Rome. The Chinese had learned to graft(嫁接) different trees together to make new kinds of fruit. They passed this technology on to others, including the Romans. The Romans used grafting to grow the apple. Trading along the Silk Road led to worldwide business 2,000 years before the World Wide Web.
The people along the Silk Road did not share just goods. They also shared their beliefs. The Silk Road provided pathways for learning, diplomacy, and religion.

The ocean is critical to all oxygen-dependent life. But life is also critical to the ocean. The ocean produces so much oxygen because of ocean plants, which draw in CO2 and change it into carbon-based sugars and oxygen. Ocean plants are climate change heroes! There is now a wide recognition of the role of ocean life in slowing climate change.
On many Pacific islands, whales support tourism economies. While concerned about the impacts of climate change on whales, we also need to recognize that whales can contribute to fighting climate change! Through their deep dives, vast migrations, long lifespan(寿命), and large bodies, whales have an enormous effect on the ocean.
Whales both help ocean plants to draw in CO2 and help to store carbon in the ocean. Firstly, they provide essential nutrients that enable ocean plants to grow. Whale waste is a fertilizer, bringing nutrients from the depths, where whales feed, to the surface, where plants need these nutrients to grow well. Migratory whales also bring nutrients with them from highly-productive feeding grounds to the nutrient-poor waters of whales' breeding grounds, boosting the growth of ocean plants across the ocean.
Secondly, whales keep the carbon locked in the ocean, otherwise it could contribute to climate change. Ocean plants produce carbon-based sugars, but with a very short lifespan. They can't store the carbon. When they die, much carbon is released in surface waters, and can be changed back to CO2. Whales, however, can live for over a century, feeding on food chains that begin with the sugars in these tiny plants, and storing up the carbon in their bodies. When whales die, deep ocean life feeds on their remains, and the carbon formerly stored in whales' bodies can enter sediment(沉积物). When carbon reaches deep ocean sediment, it is effectively locked away, and therefore unable to drive climate change. This carbon is unlikely to return as CO2 to the atmosphere.
Several Pacific island countries are already leaders in whale conservation, having declared whale sanctuaries in their waters. Every year, whales socialize, breed, and give birth in Pacific island waters.
28. Where do surface ocean plants get nutrients for growth
A.From whale waste.
B.From the whales' bodies.
C.From the sunlight.
D.From ocean sediment.
29. Why are ocean plants unable to store the carbon
A.They lack nutrients for growth.
B.They never absorb carbon-based sugars.
C.Carbon-based sugars can't be generated by them.
D.The carbon in them is released after their death.
30. What does the underlined word “sanctuaries” in the last paragraph mean
A.Shelters. B.Imports.
C.Markets. D.Amusements.
31. What is the text mainly about
A.The importance of the ocean to climate.
B.The bad effects of CO2 on climate change.
C.The role of whales in slowing climate change.
D.The importance of the ocean to all oxygen-dependent life.

China's Tianwen-1 Mars probe(探测器) conducted its fourth orbital correction on Friday evening, as the spacecraft made ready for its arrival in orbit around Feb. 10, according to the China National Space Administration(CNSA).
The name comes from the long poem Tianwen, meaning “heavenly questions” or “questions to heaven”, written by Qu Yuan, one of the greatest poets of ancient China. This name conveys the Chinese nation's steady effort in pursuing the truth and culture of exploring nature and the SA also unveiled(展示) the logo of China's planetary(行星的) exploration missions, featuring the letter C, signifying China, international cooperation and capacity for entering space.
Tianwen-1 has flown for 197 days and more than 465 million kilometers on its journey to the planet. It is now around 184 million km from Earth and 1.1 million km from Mars. Depending on the two planets' orbits, Mars is between 55 million and 400 million km from Earth. Mars probe Tianwen-1 was seen in its first selfie in space on Oct. 1, 2020. The administration also published a black-and-white picture of Mars taken by Tianwen-1, the first snapshot(快照) from the Chinese craft.
Tianwen-1, the country's first independent Mars mission, was launched by a Long March 5 carrier rocket on July 23 from the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center in Hainan Province, kicking off the nation's planetary exploration program.
A successful landing would make China the second nation to place a spacecraft on Mars. China would also be the first to successfully orbit, land and deploy(部署) a vehicle in the same mission. According to experts, searching for signs of life on Mars will be the first and foremost scientific goal. China is open and inclusive in the development of its space technology, not least because it believes that the exploration of outer space should help build a community with a shared future for mankind.

It took place in a teacher's family. One day, Ben was playing basketball in the living room after school, when he accidentally threw the ball at a vase sitting on the shelf. The vase dropped to the floor and broke into pieces. What made Ben more upset was that the vase was not a common decoration but an antique, which was handed down through generations from the 18th century. It was also his mother's favourite possession. To cover his terrible action, the frightened boy glued the pieces together hastily and put the vase back to its place.
As the mother herself dusted the vase every day, she naturally noticed the cracks that evening. To her surprise, the repair work was actually very good. At dinner time, she asked her boy if he broke the vase. Fearing punishment, the suddenly inspired boy said that a neighbour's cat jumped in from the window and he couldn't drive it away no matter how hard he tried. It raced around the living room and finally knocked the vase off its shelf. The mother was quite clear that her son was lying, for all the windows were closed before she left for work each morning and opened after she returned. However, in the face of her son's nervous eyes and the suspicious looks of the other family members, Ben's mother remained calm. She realized she shouldn't just simply blame and punish her son for lying. She came up with another idea.
Before going to bed, the boy found a note from his mother in his room, asking him to go to the study at once. The boy thought he would now be punished but, as he had already lied, he was determined to deny everything to the end, no matter how angry his mum became.
In the study, calmly bathed in the light, his mother's face showed no sign of anger. On seeing her son push the door open and cautiously enter, she took a chocolate box out of a drawer and gave him one piece of chocolate.
注意:续写词数应为150个左右。
The mother said,“This piece of chocolate is a reward for your imagination: a window-opening cat!”
Now with some chocolate in hand, the boy's bad attitude disappeared.

47.D 根据下文中的“killing some of them...”可推知,Emma甚至有杀害雄鹤的名声(reputation),这使它无法成为一名母亲。短语have a reputation for...

故填have made。
58.is 考查动词的时态和主谓一致。“Best-known among the ancient silk fabrics 58 Nanjing yunjin”是“表语+连系动词+主语”构成的完全倒装结构,此处讲述一般事实,应用一般现在时,主语Nanjing yunjin表单数意义,谓语应用单数形式。故填is。

第四部分 写作
第一节
One possible version:
Travelling on a budget is a fashionable form of travel nowadays. It enables more poor travel lovers to enjoy travelling.
Compared with traditional travel, travelling on a budget is more convenient and the price of it is very friendly. That means travellers arrange the schedule freely and enjoy the journey at a lower cost. Meanwhile travellers have more opportunities to experience local customs and practices. Inviting as it seems to be, accommodation conditions are often far from satisfactory. What's more, budget travellers' safety is worrying.
But I still like it very much, because it can provide travellers with chances to develop their problem-solving ability in unexpected situations.
第二节
One possible version:
The mother said,“This piece of chocolate is a reward for your imagination: a window-opening cat!” Hearing her sincere appreciation, Ben flushed, lowered his head and muttered a thank-you. Surprisingly, the mother took out another piece of chocolate and pressed it into his hand. “This one is for the delicate repair work you did to the broken vase.” She also added that she was moved by how much the boy cherished the family's possessions. At these hearty remarks, Ben felt a flow of shame through his veins, and had to duck his head even lower. The mother then calmly encouraged Ben to reward himself with more chocolate for any other merits he had displayed in this event. He did as he was told, confessing that he was calm when facing the accident.
Now with some chocolate in hand, the boy's bad attitude disappeared. After what seemed a long time, he looked up at his mother, admitted that it was not the cat but he that had broken the vase accidentally and asked for punishment. “I'm sorry I lied to you, Mum. Please take back the chocolate.” Feeling so ashamed, Ben couldn't hold back his tears. He opened his palm wide, ready to return the chocolate. To his surprise, however, his mother placed the whole bag of chocolate in his hand, smiling, “Honesty deserves the best reward, my dear.”
