Rick Guidotti put aside his profession as a fashion photographer to turn his lens(镜头)to citizens living with genetic, physical and behavioral differences.
He says what changed his perception of beauty was a chance encounter with an albino (患白化病的) girl. “I was just tired of people telling me who was beautiful. Every season that face would change but I was always told who was beautiful. As an artist, I don't see beauty just on covers of magazines. I see it everywhere. So that was my original intention—that opened my eyes a little wider and wider.”
Guidotti has founded Positive Exposure, a not-for-profit organization that uses photography and video to transform public perceptions and promote a world where differences are celebrated. Guidotti and Positive Exposure are featured in a new documentary called On Beauty.
One of the women featured in the film is Jayne Waithera. “I never thought I was beautiful because nobody said that to me, but meeting him was my profound moment. I remember that particular day. He took my picture and I felt so good—I felt there's somebody who really loves me and sees me more than my condition.”
Guidotti is traveling from city to city to promote On Beauty. He says his tour is not about money; it's about the message. “As I travel from community to community, I'm taking photographs and I'm empowering individuals with a positive sense of who they are. All is based on the philosophy of change—how you see, how you change.”

As summer approaches and the tourist season begins, social media users will struggle to answer the age-old question: If you didn't post about your vacation, did you really even go
Though it may be difficult for some to escape work emails and update social media during vacation, the island of Ulko-Tammio in Finland is appealing to visitors to avoid their screens and explore nature wholeheartedly.
Claiming to be the world's first phone-free tourist island, Ulko-Tammio is located in the Eastern Gulf of Finland and Finland has been named “the world's happiest country” for six years and, somewhat interestingly, is home to Nokia, the famous mobile phone brand.

I wasn't the most popular kid in my first year of high school, not even close to. I was not interested in fashion. I preferred reading to sports, and I had difficulty talking to boys. As a result, the first year of high school had not been kind to me. I had no close friends.
The girl, Ashley, was very different from me. She was fashionable, and she was very artistic, listening to bands I had never heard of. She was quite popular. We were always in the same classes throughout school, but didn't talk much.
During summer school, the teacher asked us to pair up(结组工作) on a school project. Ashley didn't seem to like working with me at first, but she gave in. I guessed it was because none of her “cool” friends were in the class. We met at the library to work on the project. Ashley did most of the talking. We sat by each other for the rest of the summer and when classes ended, we continued to hang out.
I admired Ashley; she was the kind of person I thought I wanted to be. I began to wear the clothes she wore. I quit reading and started watching the TV programs that Ashley watched. I decided to take an art class though I had really wanted to take the theatre. When we started school again, I met Ashley's group of friends, the “cool girls”. She was the leader of the group. To fit in with the group, I followed them around, laughing at their jokes and agreeing with their opinions I actually disagreed with. But I didn't say much.
One day, I went to join the group again. They were chatting without noticing my arrival. One girl said, “Ashley, she just follows you around, trying to be you. She copies you; she doesn't have her own personality(个性).” Ashley replied, “I wish she could find the group she actually belongs to.” I was shocked and sad. I thought I had fit in with them.

故选A。

故选A。
所以F项“这些不能把重要的问题完全解释清楚”符合语境,承接上文,而且选项F中的“These”指代上文提到的“simple sound bites or the headlines”。

41.B 根据上文“she remembers her singing”和“She loved karaoke”可知,她母亲喜欢唱歌,因此“歌曲(songs)”符合语境,故选B项。
42.B 第一段最后一句可看成一个小语境,其中的“You make Mommy so proud...I love you forever.”

49.A 那天晚上Sophia疯狂地搜寻垃圾桶,以寻找泰迪熊,结合“she took her hunt to the Internet”可知,她的努力(effort)没有结果,故选A项。
50.D Sophia决定在网上寻找泰迪熊,所以此处指她将泰迪熊的照片和安保录像分享(sharing)到Twitter上,下文“the thief from the security video Sophia had shared on social media”也提示了答案。故选D项。
51.A 根据下文“the news made it all the way to an actor”可知,这个事情被作为新闻报道了(covered),故选A项。
52.B 根据“a $5,000 reward for the bear's safe return”可知,演员提供(offering)丰厚的奖金来帮助寻找泰迪熊,故选B项。

54.D 根据“the thief from the security video Sophia had shared on social media”可知,是因为热心人认出了(recognized)安保录像中的小偷才找到了泰迪熊,故选D项。
55.A 根据上文“Losing that bear and”可知,此处是Sophia对泰迪熊失而复得(recovering)发表的感慨,故选A项。

One possible version:
Dear Anna,
There are two apps I want to recommend to you—WeChat and Alipay.
WeChat has already become a vital part of people's life in China. Not only can you use WeChat to send messages, make video calls, but also more interestingly you can give red packets to other users. The other one is Alipay. You can do almost everything in China by using this all-purpose app like ordering food, reserving tickets and even planting your virtual trees.
These two apps can make your life in China more convenient. I hope you will have no trouble in studying and enjoy your life here.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节
One possible version:
I ran home and told my mother what had happened. She just hugged me while I cried for hours. I felt lonely and sad. The advice my mother gave me was so simple. I had heard it a million times, but this time it was impressive: “Just be yourself and people will like you for who you are.” Hearing that, I stopped crying and decided to find out who I was. That was exactly what I did. I didn't hang out with Ashley and her group any longer.
Over the next month, I went through a lot of changes.I dropped the art class and took the theatre. I began making new friends who liked me for who I was. I continued reading, and developed my own opinions. I never again followed the crowd. I built up the courage to participate in each of my school plays, and played lead roles. The friends I made in the theatre are still my great friends. When looking back, I think it was that year that I found out the person I was going to be.
