developed with workplace, school and family environments in mind, but are broadly applicable.
At the end of 21 days, you may continue the practice, take on a new challenge, or even design
your own. There is no charge for any of our services.

The 21-Day Challenges help fit the pace of modern life, with each demanding less than five
minutes a day in most cases. They connect you in meaningful ways to your community and boost
well-being levels.

Born with a skin condition, Michaela Mabinty DePrince was labeled a “devil child” at her
Sierra Leone orphanage(孤儿院), the last to be fed and the first to be beaten. When an issue of
Dance Magazine blew into the orphanage yard, with a woman smiling on the cover, she imagined
a better life as a ballerina.
Adopted by an American family at age 4, she studied and practiced to make her dream a
reality. When she was just 15, she was one of six promising dancers in the documentary First
Position. She went on to study with the American Ballet Theater and became a dancer of the
Dance Theater of Harlem. At the height of her career, she secured starring roles with the Dutch
National Ballet and appearing in the film version of Beyoncé’s Lemonade.
She was born in the war-torn West African country of Sierra Leone. When she was 3, her
miner father was killed and her mother died of hunger. At the orphanage, she took to turning
around quickly and standing on the tips of her toes, and the DePrinces, the couple who adopted
her and brought her back to New Jersey, promised to take her to ballet lessons once she excelled in
English. She was quickly discovered to be talented. With her athleticism and what one reviewer
called her “spitfire quickness,” DePrince became an international star in Amsterdam. There she
took the lead in such ballets as Swan Lake and Coppélia, dancing with “undeniable grace, strength,
and precision”.
She had to take a break in 2017 after an accident, which gave her time “to seek treatment for
years of nightmares(噩梦)” about her wartime childhood. She joined the Boston Ballet in 2021
but left in the same year for undisclosed reasons. “Dance with your heart,” she once told young
ballerinas. “Don’t let the negative aspects of life cause you to lose what made you want to achieve
in the first place.”
24.Why is a magazine mentioned in Paragraph 1
A.To illustrate the cause of her skin condition.
B.To show the unfair treatment at the orphanage.
C.To indicate the inspiration for Michaela’s dream.

With the rapid development of artificial intelligence, DeepSeek, a Chinese AI company, has
emerged as a pioneer in educational technology. Its latest model, DeepSeek-R1, combines
advanced machine learning methods to provide personalized learning solutions for students
worldwide.
Unlike traditional AI models that rely on pre-programmed answers, DeepSeek-R1 uses
reinforcement(强化) learning to simulate human reasoning. This allows it to guide students
through problem-solving step by step, much like a patient tutor. For example, when a student
struggles with a math equation, DeepSeek-R1 doesn’t just give the answer; it breaks down the
logic, identifies errors, and encourages critical thinking.
The model’s applications extend beyond academics. In language learning, it analyzes
students’ pronunciation through AI speech recognition and offers real-time feedback. For teachers,
DeepSeek-R1 can generate lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and even predict
students’ learning difficulties based on historical data. Its “adaptive testing” feature creates
customized quizzes that adjust difficulty according to individual progress.
However, challenges remain. Critics argue that over-reliance on AI might reduce human
interaction in education. DeepSeek’s developers address this by emphasizing its role as a
“supplement, not a replacement.” As Dr. Li, a DeepSeek researcher, stated, “Our goal is to free
teachers from repetitive tasks so they can focus on inspiring creativity.”
Looking ahead, DeepSeek aims to integrate virtual reality(VR)into its platform, allowing
students to explore historical events or scientific concepts in immersive 3D environments. While
ethical debates about AI in education persist, one thing is clear: tools like DeepSeek are reshaping
how we learn, blending technology with human wisdom.

Travel is one of the most exciting experiences a human being can have. Imagine how Italian
traveler Marco Polo must have felt when he found himself in China, seeing a way of life quite
different from anything he’d seen before.
And how wonderful must it have been to Zhang Qian when he returned to China from his
journey through Central Asia and West Asia His brain must have been filled with everything he’d
seen and heard, leading to the founding of the Silk Road.
Some people have traveled all over the world, and travel is a way of life to them. But among
the travels to a specific destination, the first is more likely to be the best. Imagine a person who
has been expecting his first travel to the United States. Of course, he may have seen all the famous
sights a thousand times on TV. But none of that would compare to the excitement of looking out of
the cabin window as the plane lands, watching the cities and streets of the real America come into
view.
Although travel is often just for recreation(消遣), it’s also educational. We may not know
that we are getting an education, but we still are.
We’re learning every day: new words, new people, and new ways of life. But this learning
takes place in the school of the world, not just the classroom. One of the lessons we learn is
undoubtedly a moral(道德上的)one. As we get to know foreign places, we come to understand
英语试题 第 4 页(共 9页)
{#{QQABaQYlxwgQkAYACA7bUQVqC0sQsIOTJSomRUCUOAwCyRNABCA=}#}
that there are many different ways to live, and that the way we live isn’t necessarily the best way.
Just like British politician Benjamin Disraeli said, “Travel teaches toleration.”
32.Why does the author mention Marco Polo and Zhang Qian
A.To explain how the Silk Road was founded.
B.To present travel as an amazing experience.
C.To show how the way people travel has changed.
D.To describe important cultural exchanges in history.
33.What does the author want to convey in Paragraph 3
A.The best trip is often the first in-person experience.
B.One’s first trip is usually the most challenging.
C.There is always much to learn on one’s first trip.
D.People usually make better preparations for their first trips.
34.What can we know from the last two paragraphs
A.Traveling should be included in formal education.
B.Traveling improves people’s confidence in their lifestyle.
C.There is more to learn in classroom than from adventures.
D.A foreign journey may raise people’s cultural understanding.
35.According to the passage, what is one of the key moral lessons that travel teaches
A.The importance of staying at home.
B.The value of exploring new places.
C.The necessity of being tolerant of different cultures.
D.The idea that one’s own culture is better than others.

余选项。
Do you have a song that you cannot stop thinking about You try to stop, but the song just
continues in your mind. 36 This is a common problem and the problem has an unusual name.
It is called an earworm.
37 Some people experience earworms almost every day. For other people, it only
happens once in a while. So what makes people experience earworms There are four possible
reasons.
The first reason is simply hearing the song. A song may become an earworm for an individual
just because they have heard it recently. 38 Sometimes an individual hears or plays a
particular song often. When this happens, the song is more likely to become an earworm. Another
reason is stress. It can bring past experiences into the mind and often people have strong

connections between memories and music. 39 Triggers such as sights, sounds or smells are
also major causes for earworms. These stimuli can cause an individual to start thinking about a
particular song.
What can you do when you have an earworm playing over and over in your head Scientists
do not have a cure for earworms. But people who experience earworms often have many
suggested solutions. For example, doing difficult math problems in your head can help you
concentrate on the problems rather than earworms. Another method is to write the words of the
song down backwards and then sing the words as written down. 40
A.Earworms are difficult to research.
B.It plays again, and again, and again.
C.Almost everyone has experienced an earworm.
D.Repeated exposure also makes a song an earworm.
E.This troubles the brain and it immediately stops singing.
F.Then your mind starts singing the main part of a popular song.
G.So a particular memory may cause the brain to think of a particular song.

Just as many families do at a point, Catherine chose to add a new family member by adopting
a pet. Shortly after her daughter Kate’s birth, Catherine decided she wanted a close bond(纽带)
with a dog for Kate. Thus, Catherine called the dog shelter close by to inquire(问询)about
adoption. After hearing about the available animals, she chose a Doberman Pinscher. Once they
signed adoption papers, they named the dog Khan.
Catherine was hopeful this would provide valuable lessons for her baby, such as sharing,
learning to love and responsibility to care for animals. She was looking forward to having the dog
join the family.
Hearing of Khan’s rough background, Catherine immediately loved the dog. She was
overjoyed to bring this special dog back to her family. Or course, she realized there were risks
involved. Well, the obvious risks from bringing a large, potentially dangerous animal to her young
baby, Catherine pushed them aside. If she had not adopted Khan, he would have been killed just a
week later. So, this was his new life and second chance, and the family was hoping for the best.
Everything began smoothly. They trained Khan during the first few days. However,
everything changed on that fourth day when the dog acted completely out of character.
The fateful(对未来有重大影响的)day began with the usual playtime in the yard. Although
baby Kate had her parents watching from a distance, they did not notice anything out of the

ordinary Kate and the new dog had been making a habit of playing out back like this. However,
things were different this day.
So what was actually happening out there The two were not being loud or crazy. They began
running through the backyard grass together. Again, Catherine watched the two closely.
Surprisingly, things had changed within an instant(一瞬间)!

One possible version:
A Study Tour to the Sunshine Eco-Farm
Last weekend, our class had a study tour to the Sunshine Eco-Farm, eager to learn about
sustainable agriculture and foster a deeper understanding of environmental protection.
The day began with a brief introduction to the farm, followed by a hands-on experience in
planting vegetables and feeding cows. We also learned how to turn food and animal waste into
nutrient-rich soil. After a hearty lunch entirely sourced from the farm, we visited the
solar-powered greenhouses, where we saw various crops growing without chemical fertilizers.
This experience was both exciting and enriching.Iwas thrilled to see firsthand how
technology can be applied in agriculture, and it fueled my passon for protecting our environment as
well.
第二节
One possible version:
Khan began acting wildly all of a sudden. With her mouth wide open, Catherine watched
Khan dragging her child, hoping he would stop. Just as she was wondering how he could suddenly
become this way, Khan put down Kate outside the yard. Catherine rushed to Kate and carried her
to safety while Khan barked towards the yard wildly. Catherine returned, only to find a poisonous
snake crawling in the yard and she drove it away.
Obviously, it was Khan who saved her baby but he barked weakly and then fell down with
dying eyes. Khan protected Kate from the poisonous creature and was attacked. Although living
with the family for me rely four days, he became the protector as Catherine had hoped. Catherine
rushed Khan to the vet. “May God bless you” ,Catherine murmured. The vet tried hi s best to save
him. Eventually, he made it and Catherine shed a tear of relief.
