Once upon a time, there was a kingdom where there lived a king who only had one leg and one eye. But his skill, intelligence and generosity made him a competent ruler. As a result, the people in his kingdom lived a joyful and healthy life under his rule.
Then, one day while the King was walking in his palace, he noticed the portraits (肖像) of his ancestors along the hallway. The paintings of his ancestors sparked (触发) a thought in the King's mind. He thought that his children would walk the same hallway one day and remember all the ancestors through these portraits.
So the King sent an invitation to all the painters from across the kingdoms to his court. He announced that he wanted a beautiful portrait made of himself that would be placed in the palace. So any painter who wants to paint his picture should come forward. The painter will be rewarded based on how good the painting will turn out.
The painters started to panic and thought about making the King with only one leg and one eye look beautiful. How can his picture be beautiful It is not possible. They were also scared that the King may get angry and punish them if the portrait did not turn out beautiful. So one by one, all the painters started to make excuses and politely declined to make a painting of the King.
But one young painter raised his hand and said that he would make a beautiful portrait of the King that the King would like. The King was finally happy hearing that at least one of the painters was interested in making his painting. The other painters got curious about how this young painter would make a beautiful painting of the King. The King excitedly permitted him, and the painter started drawing the portrait. He then filled the drawing with paints. Finally, after a long wait, he said that the picture was ready!
All the people were curious and nervous about how the painting would turn out. How will the portrait look beautiful with all the physical abnormalities of the King What if the King doesn't like the art and gets angry They curiously waited for the big reveal. Finally, the painter uncovered the painting in front of the court.
注意:1.词数80左右;

He was on the one-leg side, holding his bow and aiming the arrow with his one eye closed. Indeed archery and horse riding were few of the skills the King possessed. Nevertheless, the King was delighted to see that the painter had made a beautiful portrait by creatively presenting his abnormalities. The King adored the picture, and the painter received a very generous reward.
Ⅰ.阅读七选五
Calligraphy (书法) is the art of writing letters beautifully. These days, a lot of writing is done on computers and phones. 1
The best thing about calligraphy is having fun doing art with pen and ink, and not worrying too much about what you create. It's about making marks on paper, and then practicing the letter forms over and over. 2
No.2 课时跟踪检测
Eleanor Winters, author of Calligraphy for Kids, says the best way to learn the art is to join a local calligraphy club. If your school doesn't run one, ask if they could start one up. “It's easy and inexpensive to start learning. 3 I would recommend beginning with markers (马克笔) and paper,” says Winters.
Normal marker pens with a pointed tip are perfect to start, so that you can learn the shapes of the letters.“ 4 They can make the thick-and-thin lines that are characteristic of traditional calligraphy,” says Winters. In terms of paper, lined is much easier to write on because it's easier to control the height of the letters. “Practice and patience are both important,” says Winters. “You'll learn much better if you take time to practice each step before you move on to the next one.”
5 It provides a beautiful way to express yourself, whether you are making a birthday card, creating a letter or poem, or writing in your diary. It's also a very relaxing and quiet activity, making for a nice break from the stresses of the school day.
A.All you need is a pen, ink and paper.
B.Practicing calligraphy has many advantages.
C.After that, you could use calligraphy markers.
D.Like anything, the more you practice, the better you will do.
E.The next important thing is to know how to hold the marker.
F.So calligraphy is a way to celebrate writing artistically on paper.
G.Modern calligraphy is quite different from traditional calligraphy.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Jenny liked drawing and her parents thought she had a gift for drawing. So her parents were planning to send her to an art school for drawing classes.
One day, when Jenny returned from school, her mother said, “Jenny, do you want to go to an art school, where you can learn to draw in your spare time?” Hearing that, Jenny was very excited and happily agreed since being an artist was always her dream.
The following day, Jenny's parents took her to the art school which was a thirty-minute bus ride away from their home. They enrolled Jenny in a drawing class in that school. Then, Jenny started taking classes regularly. At first, she showed great interest and listened carefully in class. She practiced hard in order to do better in drawing. However, some weeks later, Jenny got tired of going to the class. It was very hot at that time of the year. She often had to walk in the hot sun to get to the bus stop. What was worse, she found that drawing wasn't as easy as she had thought. She was told that it'd take many years for her to be a real artist, so she wanted to give up.
One day, when it was time for her to go to the class, she didn't leave home. Her mother looked at the wall clock and said, “Honey, it's already three o'clock now. Your class begins in just half an hour. You should hurry.” But Jenny didn't move. She said, “I'm not going. In fact, I am tired of drawing.” Her mother was very surprised. She asked her why. Jenny told her what she was thinking. Her mother thought for a while and said, “You can take a break if you really don't want to go to your drawing class now. Go and pay a visit to your grandma. If you still don't want to go after you come back from your grandma's, then I'll call your teacher and tell her your decision.”
参考范文:
Jenny agreed and went to her grandma's later. She told her grandma what had happened. After hearing what Jenny said, her grandma took out a picture and asked her what she thought of it. Jenny said frankly, “It doesn't look good.” Her grandma smiled and then took out another. Then her grandma asked again, “What about this one?” “It is really great!” said Jenny, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Looking at the two pictures, Jenny asked who drew them. Her grandma said they were both drawn by her, which greatly surprised Jenny. Her grandma told her the one that looked terrible was drawn by her recently while the one that looked great was drawn by her as a child. “I had a gift for drawing when I was little. However, I gave up drawing because I lost interest in it, thinking it tiring and boring. And gradually I lost my gift,” her grandma said regretfully. Hearing that, Jenny decided to go back to her drawing classes because she still wanted to pursue her dream of being an artist and didn't want to lose her gift.Section Ⅵ Writing
