A
Sonam Tenzin has a clear understanding of what modern material wealth would mean to him:treatment and medication for his elderly, disabled mother, and his aunt and uncle and a good education for his two sons.
Sonam Tenzin is separated from his wife,so he supports his sons and his three aging relatives alone.Last year, the family's situation got worse when their house was damaged by fire.Although he got help,Sonam had to borrow 60,000 yuan from the bank to repair the building.
In the coming five years, according to the policy, the government will provide part-time jobs, such as forest rangers (护林员),for 500,000 people.Sonam Tenzin has been offered a job as a forest ranger, which will bring him about 3,000 yuan every year.
“However, some people just do nothing and think the government will take care of them, anyway,” Nyima, the official, said.“Stopping the resettlement projects from turning into slums (贫民区) is at the top of our tasks.”
The real challenge for the government lies in working out how poor families can be helped to make a living without government assistance. In one resettlement project in an urban area of Nyingchi, the government has set an entry condition that requires poor families to have at least one person working in the area before they are allowed to move in.
Although Sonam Tenzin had excellent performance in his schoolwork, the need to support his family forced him to drop out before he finished high school. Now,his dearest wish is that his children will receive an education good enough to help them live up to their potential.
“Every time I am invited to a gathering of my middle school classmates,I always refuse. We were very close, but now we live very different lives,” he said.“I just hope my children will not be in the same position as me in the future.”
1.Why does Sonam Tenzin have to support his family by himself
A.Because only he has a job in his family.
B.Because his wife doesn't live with him.
C.Because only he has the ability to work.
D.Because his wife is terribly ill.

根据第二段“Sonam Tenzin is separated from his wife,so he supports his sons and his three aging relatives alone.”
2.What's the biggest problem that the resettlement projects are facing
A.Some people's laziness.
B.The poor living conditions.
C.Some people's disagreement.
D.The shortage of job opportunities.

3.What is the real challenge for the government
A.Letting the poor people live a better life.
B.Providing the poor families with more money.
C.Letting every able man have a job of his own.
D.Letting the poor be able to make a living independently.

4.In Sonam Tenzin's opinion, the most important thing to his children is ______ .
A.the safe life
B.the chances to go out of the village
C.the chances to be educated well
D.the easy life

Drew Peterson came back to his family's farm near Salem,South Dakota,in 2010 from a job in New York. Since his return,he says he has experienced many uncertainties, but luckily he was introduced to the First Dakota National Bank's AgriVisions Emerging Farmer and Rancher Program. “It was a good way of trying to mentally prepare for black swan events (the unexpected problems). They told us this is going to happen. It's not an if; it's a when,” he says. “They tried to give us some tools and just give us some general train of thought on how to get through them.”
That has been the program's intent since its origin, says Nathan Franzén,president of First Dakota's Agri-Business Division.Held every other year, the program is divided into four parts, with each being a multi-day event.
The first session (会议) is held in early spring in Mitchell,South Dakota, where the group explores farm management and financials. The second session is held at the South Dakota State University in Brookings, covering marketing and risk management.
In the first two sessions, students have contact with nationally known speakers, such as Jolene Brown, who comes in and talks about transition. After hearing Brown's presentation, students in the first class returned to the farm full of energy and excitement,Franzén says, but “Mom and Dad at home,or Grandma and Grandpa, weren't always ready for that conversation.” A “social” is now held allowing students to bring family members for Brown's presentation.“That way they all get to hear it at the same time. They all get to understand the message,” he says.
The third part of the program involves participants taking a trip, which has included a variety of stops over the years. “The curriculum and the content have a ton of value, but the networking has just as much value.” Franzén says. Peterson agrees with that, saying he has kept in contact with fellow participants from that first class.
The fourth session of the program focuses on strategic planning. “We walk them through what a good plan should look like,” Franzén says.

Sonam Tenzin has a clear understanding of what modern material wealth would mean to him:treatment and medication for his elderly, disabled mother, and his aunt and uncle and a good education for his two sons.
Sonam Tenzin is separated from his wife, so he supports his sons and his three aging relatives alone.Last year, the family's situation got worse when their house was damaged by fire.Although he got help, Sonam had to borrow 60,000 yuan from the bank to repair the building.
In the coming five years, according to the policy, the government will provide part time jobs, such as forest rangers (护林员), for 500,000 people.Sonam Tenzin has been offered a job as a forest ranger, which will bring him about 3,000 yuan every year.
Now, his dearest wish is that his children will receive an education good enough to help them live up to their potential.
“Every time I am invited to a gathering of my middle school classmates, I always refuse. We were very close, but now we live very different lives,” he said.“I just hope my children will not be in the same position as me in the future.”

Drew Peterson came back to his family's farm near Salem, South Dakota, in 2010 from a job in New York. Since his return, he says he has experienced many uncertainties, but luckily he was introduced to the First Dakota National Bank's AgriVisions Emerging Farmer and Rancher Program. “It was a good way of trying to mentally prepare for black swan events (the unexpected problems). They told us this is going to happen. It's not an if; it's a when,” he says. “They tried to give us some tools and just give us some general train of thought on how to get through them.”
That has been the program's intent since its origin, says Nathan Franzén, president of First Dakota's Agri Business Division.Held every other year, the program is divided into four parts, with each being a multi day event.
The first session (会议) is held in early spring in Mitchell, South Dakota, where the group explores farm management and financials. The second session is held at the South Dakota State University in Brookings, covering marketing and risk management.
In the first two sessions, students have contact with nationally known speakers, such as Jolene Brown, who comes in and talks about transition. After hearing Brown's presentation, students in the first class returned to the farm full of energy and excitement, Franzén says, but “Mom and Dad at home,or Grandma and Grandpa, weren't always ready for that conversation.” A “social” is now held allowing students to bring family members for Brown's presentation.“That way they all get to hear it at the same time. They all get to understand the message,” he says.
