Last month, our school held a sports meeting, in which my classmate, Li Hua, entered for the 3,000-metre race.
As the fastest runner in our class, he stood at the starting line, looking relaxed and confident. For the first four laps he was in the lead, but unfortunately he fell over, seemingly badly hurt. We all thought he would drop out, but what moved us most was that he struggled to his feet and started running again. When he finished the race with great effort, everyone stood up, cheering and applauding him.
Though he didn’t win the race, he won our admiration and our cheers for his persistence and bravery.

Last Friday and Saturday, our school held its annual sports meeting on the playground that brought together students from all grades. It was a huge event, with students participating in (with复合结构)various sports, including running, high jump, and long jump.
One unforgettable moment was the 4×100m relay race. What truly moved everyone(主语从句) was that our fourth runner, who had been lagging behind due to a minor injury(定语从句), pushed through the pain. As he crossed the line(时间状语从句), the entire stadium erupted in applause, celebrating not just the victory but the spirit of perseverance and teamwork(现在分词作状语).
Overall, the sports meeting was a reminder that sports are not just about winning or losing, but about teamwork, perseverance, and respect(同位语从句).Period Four Writing
Ⅰ.A
根据第二段“The National Football League is expanding its replay system this upcoming season to include pass interference (传球干扰). Major League Baseball now relies on it for safe-or-out and home run calls. If you’ve been watching the FIFA World Cup, you may have noticed that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) played a key role in almost every game. And in the Kentucky Derby, a horse was disqualified for knocking another horse. No one knew why until a video replay confirmed the call and controversy was avoided.”(在即将到来的赛季中,美国国家橄榄球联盟将扩大其回放系统,将传球干扰纳入其中。 故选A。
根据画线词前面的内容“However, many purists—those who want people to follow rules carefully and do things in the traditional way—especially in soccer, argue it’s not the way the game was invented…”(然而,许多纯粹主义者——那些希望人们认真遵守规则并以传统方式做事的人——尤其是在足球领域,认为这不是这项运动的发明方式……) 因此,画线词与C项damaging(损坏)为同义词。
根据倒数第二段的“It weakened the New Orleans Saints’ spirits. The Los Angeles Rams won a 26—23 overtime victory. The no-call deeply angered the public. The video replay showed the referees had just missed one of the most apparent pass interference calls.”(它削弱了新奥尔良圣徒队的士气。
由文章第一段“I want to be successful. That person is successful. So that person can teach me how to be successful. This theory helps explain the springing up of podcasts, books and speeches devoted to the secrets of high performance. It is one reason why executive(主管)-leadership courses draw on case studies from well beyond business: politics, the army and even the Roman Empire. And it has been much apparent before and during the Olympics, which ended in Paris on August 11th.”
由文章第二段“Executives attend events in which Olympians describe what makes them successful. What can CEOs learn from the world’s best athletes Actually, there are threads that connect sporting success and business success.”(主管们参加奥运会选手描述他们成功的原因的活动。
由文章最后一段“They want a simple recipe for success. And they want to hear what it is like to run faster or jump higher than anyone else. They want to hear stories that can have no practical value back in the office. If they can pretend it’s good for their career, so much the better.”(他们想要一个简单的成功秘诀。
由文章第二段“Executives attend events in which Olympians describe what makes them successful. What can CEOs learn from the world’s best athletes Actually, there are threads that connect sporting success and business success.”、第三段“If some of the similarities between sports and the workplace are cliché (老生常谈), many of the differences are too big to be helpful.”(如果说体育运动和职场之间的一些相似之处是老生常谈的话,那么它们之间的许多差异就太大了,以致于事无补。) 故选A项。
Ⅱ.第一节
One possible version:
The athlete I admire most
As we all know, a number of excellent athletes performed well in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The athletes I admire most is Quan Hongchan, the women’s 10m diving champion.
Born in an ordinary family, she trained so hard every day that she made a remarkable achievement. Quan received perfect 10s by all seven judges on her way to winning the gold medal. She had such astonishing dives, almost non-existent splashing! When watching her amazing performance, I couldn’t help applauding her, feeling over the moon.
Quan Hongchan’s achievements can be said to be the result of efforts. Quan sets a good example for us senior high school students. Determined to study harder than before, I will carry forward the spirit of the Olympics: faster, higher and stronger.
One possible version:
Then Lucy, one of my teammates, came over. With a calm and reassuring smile, Lucy gently placed her hand on my shoulder. She whispered in my ear, “It’s okay, keep going. We’re in this together.” Her words were like a warm breeze, blowing away my embarrassment(现在分词短语作状语). Drawing a deep breath(现在分词短语作状语), I collected myself and quickly adjusted my hair as best I could and restored my position in the routine. The other members of the team picked up where we left off, their movements as coordinated as ever(独立主格结构). By the time we reached the final pose(时间状语从句), the stadium erupted in thunderous applause.
After our performance, I walked towards Lucy. With tears of gratitude welling up (with复合结构) in my eyes, I hugged Lucy tightly. “Thank you,” I whispered, with my voice trembling(with复合结构). “I don’t know what I would have done without you(宾语从句;虚拟语气).” Lucy smiled warmly, her eyes twinkling(独立主格结构)with understanding and compassion. “We’re a team, remember We face everything together, good and bad. And we always come out stronger on the other side.” From that day on, Lucy and I became even closer. Our friendship was beyond the boundaries of the gymnastics team, becoming a lifelong partnership(现在分词短语作状语) built on mutual respect, understanding, and support(过去分词短语作定语).Period Four Writing

As athletes get stronger and faster, the pace of play continues to increase. The burden of making sure games are played according to the rules and that the officiating (裁判) is accurate is now being taken out of human hands and falling more and more into the lap of technology. It’s called the video replay.
The National Football League is expanding its replay system this upcoming season to include pass interference Major League Baseball now relies on it for safe-or-out and home run calls. If you’ve been watching the FIFA World Cup, you may have noticed that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) played a key role in almost every game. And in the Kentucky Derby, a horse was disqualified for knocking another horse. No one knew why until a video replay confirmed the call and controversy was avoided.
However, many purists—those who want people to follow rules carefully and do things in the traditional way—especially in soccer, argue it’s not the way the game was invented, and that the video replay is tainting the sport. But don’t you want to see the proper application of the rules throughout the games I know I do. Yes, it can slow the game down, but I feel it is worth it. If technological advancements allow fans watching from home to spot mistakes instantly, those same views need to be available to the officiating crews. Another example occurred in the most recent National Football Conference (NFC) Championship Game between the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints. When obvious pass interference was committed by the Los Angeles Rams player Nickell Robey-Coleman, with just 109 seconds to play, no flag was raised on the field. It weakened the New Orleans Saints’ spirits. The Los Angeles Rams won a 26—23 overtime victory. The no-call deeply angered the public. The video replay showed the referees had just missed one of the most apparent pass interference calls.
There are no easy answers regarding replay technology and whether it is a curse (魔咒). But for me, keeping the officiating honest and on task is the right step in limiting controversy.
( )1.What trend in sports can be observed in Paragraph 2
A.The video replay has been widely used.
B.League games have become competitive.
C.Rules of professional games are becoming stricter.
D.People are showing more interest in sports than before.

A.Tricking. B.Promoting.
C.Damaging. D.Restoring.
( )3.What might the New Orleans Saints think of the referees in the NFC Championship Game
A.They relied a lot on the video replay.
B.They cared too much about details.
C.They were definitely stressed out.
D.They were terribly disqualified.

I want to be successful. And it has been much apparent before and during the Olympics, which ended in Paris on August 11th.
Executives attend events in which Olympians describe what makes them successful. What can CEOs learn from the world’s best athletes Actually, there are threads that connect sporting success and business success. Getting to the games requires 100% commitment and hard work. Sporting excellence rests on the efforts of multiple people, not just a single individual. The people on the platform in Paris are competitive and resilient It is true that all these things are helpful in the workplace.
If some of the similarities between sports and the workplace are cliché (老生常谈), many of the differences are too big to be helpful. Sporting events have clear standards for winning or losing; most jobs lack this. A four-year Olympic cycle building to a match that may last only seconds has few similar examples in business.
The athletes who win medals at the games are blessed not just with determination but also natural gifts. The job of managers is partly to discover such superstars, but their real task is getting the best out of a workforce whose talents will vary and whose jobs will not depend as heavily on genetics. “As soon as I saw that kid log on, I knew he was special.” are words you do not often hear.Whether similarities or differences, these are not really why people listen to the podcasts or turn up at the events. They want a simple recipe for success. And they want to hear what it is like to run faster or jump higher than anyone else. They want to hear stories that can have no practical value back in the office. If they can pretend it’s good for their career, so much the better.
( )5.Why does the author mention the theory in Paragraph 1
A.To prove a point.
B.To lead in the topic.
C.To present a fact.
D.To explain a concept.
( )6.Why do CEOs turn to Olympians
A.To seek business partners.
B.To get the secrets to success.
C.To prove the truth of a theory.
D.To expand their social circle.
( )7.What is the author’s attitude to learning from Olympians
A.Unclear. B.Favourable.
C.Doubtful. D.Unconcerned.
( )8.Which of the following is a suitable title for the text
A.What can Olympians teach CEOs
B.How do CEOs differ from Olympians
C.What is the recipe for business success
D.Why are Olympians more successful than CEOs

Even years after graduating from high school, I continue to maintain contact with Lucy. Our friendship remains unbreakable because she was the one who kindly came to my rescue during my most embarrassing moment. This unforgettable incident took place during the opening ceremony of our school’s annual sports day.
On a cool autumn day, students were excitedly gathered in the stadium. The opening ceremony was important, letting everyone show their skills and become closer to their classmates. My gymnastics team and I practised for weeks to prepare a routine we wanted to make everyone admire and make us feel proud.
As the ceremony progressed, the performances before ours, were impressive, and the audience’s applause and cheers filled the stadium with energy. The stands were packed with students, teachers, and parents, all eagerly watching each act.
Finally, our team’s name was called, and it was our turn to step onto the field. The spotlight shone brightly on us, casting long shadows on the ground, and we could feel the eyes of the audience on our every move. The music began, and we started our routine. Everything was going smoothly until disaster struck halfway through.
As I performed a spin (旋转), I felt my headband slip. Before I could react, it fell off, leaving my hair in a mess. My face flushed with embarrassment, and a cold sweat broke out on my forehead. My heart raced, and I could feel my pulse pounding fiercely. I froze, unsure of what to do next, my mind blank and my body paralyzed (无法动弹的) with fear. The bright lights that had once felt energizing now felt like unpleasant spotlights highlighting my embarrassment. I could see some students pointing, their faces with a mix of shock and amusement. My teammates looked at me with concern, unsure how to help.

I want to be successful. That person is successful. So that
person can teach me how to be successful. This theory helps
explain the springing up of podcasts, books and speeches
devoted to the secrets of high performance. It is one reason
why executive(主管)-leadership courses draw on case studies
from well beyond business: politics, the army and even the
Roman Empire. And it has been much apparent before and
during the Olympics, which ended in Paris on August 11th.

Executives attend events in which Olympians describe what
makes them successful. What can CEOs learn from the world's
best athletes Actually, there are threads that connect sporting
success and business success. Getting to the games requires
100% commitment and hard work. Sporting excellence rests on
the efforts of multiple people, not just a single individual. The
people on the platform in Paris are competitive and resilient
It is true that all these things are helpful in the
workplace.

If some of the similarities between sports and the workplace
are cliché (老生常谈), many of the differences are too big to be
helpful. Sporting events have clear standards for winning or
losing; most jobs lack this. A four-year Olympic cycle building
to a match that may last only seconds has few similar examples
in business.
The athletes who win medals at the games are blessed not
just with determination but also natural gifts. The job of
managers is partly to discover such superstars, but their real

task is getting the best out of a workforce whose talents will
vary and whose jobs will not depend as heavily on genetics. “As
soon as I saw that kid log on, I knew he was special.” are
words you do not often hear. Whether similarities or differences,
these are not really why people listen to the podcasts or turn
up at the events. They want a simple recipe for success. And
they want to hear what it is like to run faster or jump higher
than anyone else. They want to hear stories that can have no
practical value back in the office. If they can pretend it's good
for their career, so much the better.

其中一位,以“The athlete I admire most”为题写一篇英语短文向你
1.介绍这名运动员的身份(包括从事的运动领域、主要成就);
2.你钦佩他/她的原因;
注意:1.词数不少于80个;
One possible version:
The athlete I admire most
As we all know, a number of excellent athletes performed
well in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The athletes I admire most is
Quan Hongchan, the women's 10m diving champion.
Born in an ordinary family, she trained so hard every
day that she made a remarkable achievement. Quan received
perfect 10s by all seven judges on her way to winning the gold
medal. She had such astonishing dives, almost non-existent
splashing! When watching her amazing performance, I couldn't
help applauding her, feeling over the moon.
Quan Hongchan's achievements can be said to be the
result of efforts. Quan sets a good example for us senior high
school students. Determined to study harder than before, I
will carry forward the spirit of the Olympics: faster, higher and
stronger.
Even years after graduating from high school, I continue to
maintain contact with Lucy. Our friendship remains unbreakable
because she was the one who kindly came to my rescue during
my most embarrassing moment. This unforgettable incident took
place during the opening ceremony of our school's annual
sports day.
On a cool autumn day, students were excitedly gathered in
the stadium. The opening ceremony was important, letting
everyone show their skills and become closer to their classmates.
My gymnastics team and I practised for weeks to prepare a
routine we wanted to make everyone admire and make us feel
proud.
As the ceremony progressed, the performances before ours,
were impressive, and the audience's applause and cheers filled
the stadium with energy. The stands were packed with students,
teachers, and parents, all eagerly watching each act.
Finally, our team's name was called, and it was our turn to
step onto the field. The spotlight shone brightly on us, casting
long shadows on the ground, and we could feel the eyes of
the audience on our every move. The music began, and we
started our routine. Everything was going smoothly until disaster
struck halfway through.
As I performed a spin (旋转), I felt my headband slip.
Before I could react, it fell off, leaving my hair in a mess. My
face flushed with embarrassment, and a cold sweat broke out
on my forehead. My heart raced, and I could feel my pulse
pounding fiercely. I froze, unsure of what to do next, my mind
blank and my body paralyzed (无法动弹的) with fear. The bright
lights that had once felt energizing now felt like unpleasant
spotlights highlighting my embarrassment. I could see some
students pointing, their faces with a mix of shock and
amusement. My teammates looked at me with concern, unsure
how to help.
Paragraph 1:
Then Lucy, one of my teammates, came over._______________
Paragraph 2:
After our performance, I walked towards Lucy._______________
One possible version:
Then Lucy, one of my teammates, came over. With a calm
and reassuring smile, Lucy gently placed her hand on my
shoulder. She whispered in my ear, “It's okay, keep going. We're
in this together.” Her words were like a warm breeze, blowing
away my embarrassment(现在分词短语作状语). Drawing a deep
breath(现在分词短语作状语), I collected myself and quickly
adjusted my hair as best I could and restored my position in
the routine. The other members of the team picked up where
we left off, their movements as coordinated as ever
By the time we reached the final pose
(时间状语从句), the stadium erupted in thunderous applause.
After our performance, I walked towards Lucy. With tears
of gratitude welling up (with复合结构) in my eyes, I hugged
Lucy tightly. “Thank you,” I whispered, with my voice
trembling(with复合结构). “I don't know what I would have
done without you(宾语从句;虚拟语气).” Lucy smiled warmly,
her eyes twinkling(独立主格结构)with understanding and
compassion. “We're a team, remember We face everything
together, good and bad. And we always come out stronger on
the other side.” From that day on, Lucy and I became even
closer. Our friendship was beyond the boundaries of the
gymnastics team, becoming a lifelong partnership(现在分词短语
作状语) built on mutual respect, understanding, and support
