Ⅰ.A
由画线词所在句子中the original feathered inhabitants on the lower Gulf coast以及第三段中的“…but it’s undeniably important for shorebirds. The best habitat is right here.”
根据第三段最后一句“The best habitat is right here.”
根据第五段中的“But his plans have expanded—not surprising for Musk, who also owns the electric car company, Tesla.”和“Anytime you have progress, there’s nothing that doesn’t come with some downside…”
根据最后一段中的“SpaceX activities are partly supervised by Cameron County in Texas.”和“We probably weren’t doing what we should have been, so I understand the public’s concern and we’re trying to do a better job going forward.”
根据第二段“Driven by concerns about resource exhaustion, over recent years environmentalists have increasingly turned their sight on our ‘consumer culture’, with groups such as The Story of Stuff and Buy Nothing New Day growing as a movement that increasingly blames all our ills on our desire to shop.”及第三段中“…but to blame these issues on Christmas shoppers is misguided, and puts us in the old trap of blaming individuals for what is a systematic problem.” 故选A。
根据第四段中“As journalist Leigh Phillips argues, ‘This is one of the few times of the year that people can even hope to afford such “luxuries”, the Christmas presents their kids are asking for, or just an appliance that works.’”
根据倒数第二段“Indeed, the richest 7% of people are responsible for 50% of greenhouse gas emissions. This becomes particularly harmful when you take into account of our consumption ‘problem’ anyway. Why are environmentalists attacking these individuals, while ignoring people like Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who has his own £1.5 bn yacht with a missile defence system ”可推知,文章提到Roman Abramovich是为了表明环保主义者没有弄清环境问题的根本原因。
根据最后一段“Anyway, anti-consumerism has become a movement of wealthy people talking down to the working class about their life choice, while ignoring the real cause of our environmental problem. It is no wonder no one is changing their behaviour—or that environmental destruction continues without becoming any less severe.”
Ⅱ.第一节

Dear residents,
We all hope to have a safe and harmonious living environment, recognizing its importance to our well-being. In order to effectively eliminate fire hazards, our community has worked out a policy that prohibits electric bikes from entering buildings, a measure designed to prevent potential fire incidents.
For the convenience of everyone, we have set up a fixed storage area in the underground garage. It is necessary for electric bikes to be placed in designated locations and charged at designated charging stations. We believe everyone will determinedly obey the rule, as it is beneficial to everyone.

One possible version:
To my amazement, I saw some familiar figures coming towards us. My friend Tanya and her family, each carrying a chair(独立主格结构), joined us! “Tia, You’ve got some good ideas for this corner. We need a little nature around here.” More and more neighbours showed up, waving signs and making noises(现在分词作状语), including Mrs DiRisio. Mum inspired me to make a speech. I did so days later. “If this is the last little bit of nature in our neighbourhood(条件状语从句),” I spoke, “doesn’t it make sense to try and save it ” Everyone applauded at the end of my speech.
A year later, the sign on the corner has made it official. Now we’ve got a walking path that curves and winds its way through the 71st Street Nature Preserve(定语从句). We’ve got a stone bench and plans for a vegetable garden. School groups come here to collect leaves and study the insects and birds(不定式作目的状语). Folks come here to walk, run or just sit(不定式作目的状语), talking, laughing and listening to(现在分词作状语)birds singing(现在分词作宾补). My corner isn’t just mine anymore, but I’m more than happy to share it.Period Four Writing

What Elon Musk has built on the remote mudflats (泥滩)at the southern tip of Texas is astonishing: huge metal structures, fuel storage tanks and a silver rocket—all fronted by neon(霓虹灯) letters that spell out “Starbase”.
But can SpaceX coexist with the original feathered inhabitants on the lower Gulf coast Environmentalists from Brownsville to Washington, DC are protesting his ambitious vision to build, test and launch next-generation rockets in this fragile ecosystem.
“It’s 24/7. The lights are really bright out here at night. I wouldn’t want to be nesting near any of this if I were a bird,” says Stephanie Bilodeau, a conservation bird biologist with a non-profit programme. “It doesn’t look like much, these vast mudflats,” she says, scanning the wetland, “but it’s undeniably important for shorebirds. The best habitat is right here.”
Less than 100 yards behind her, a massive heavy-lift crane (吊车) is preparing the site for the next test launch. When Musk broke ground here in 2014, the fact that he was sandwiched between the Lower Rio Grande National Wildlife Refuge and a group of local residents didn’t cause alarm. Now it does.
His original plans were to test and launch the slimmer Falcon 9 rocket a dozen times a year to launch satellites into orbit. But his plans have expanded—not surprising for Musk, who also owns the electric car company, Tesla. Today, he’s using this limited area of land to build and test his Super Heavy-Starship model. “Anytime you have progress, there’s nothing that doesn’t come with some downside,” Musk told the local official.
In April, NASA awarded SpaceX a $2.9 billion contract to build a Starship to take astronauts to the moon, though the contract has since been put on hold due to environmental concerns. SpaceX activities are partly supervised by Cameron County in Texas. The top elected official there, County Judge Eddie Trevino Jr., says they should pay closer attention to private space company. “We probably weren’t doing what we should have been, so I understand the public’s concern and we’re trying to do a better job going forward.”

Each year, backed up by a growing anti-consumerist movement, people are using the holiday season to call on us all to shop less.
Driven by concerns about resource exhaustion, over recent years environmentalists have increasingly turned their sight on our “consumer culture”, with groups such as The Story of Stuff and Buy Nothing New Day growing as a movement that increasingly blames all our ills on our desire to shop.
We clearly have a growing resource problem. The products we make, buy and use are often linked to the destruction of our waterways, biodiversity, climate and the land on which millions of people live, but to blame these issues on Christmas shoppers is misguided, and puts us in the old trap of blaming individuals for what is a systematic problem.
While we complain about environmental destruction over Christmas, environmentalists often forget what the holiday season actually means for many people. In fact, for most, rather than an add-on to an already heavy shopping year, Christmas is likely the only time of year they have the opportunity to spend on friends and family, or even just to buy the necessities needed for modern life. This is particularly true for Boxing Day, often laughed at by anti-consumerists the most. While we may look down on the queues in front of the shops, for many, those sales provide the chance to buy things they’ve needed all year. As journalist Leigh Phillips argues, “This is one of the few times of the year that people can even hope to afford such ‘luxuries’, the Christmas presents their kids are asking for, or just an appliance that works.”
Indeed, the richest 7% of people are responsible for 50% of greenhouse gas emissions. This becomes particularly harmful when you take into account of our consumption “problem” anyway. Why are environmentalists attacking these individuals, while ignoring people like Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who has his own £1.5 bn yacht with a missile defence system
Anyway, anti-consumerism has become a movement of wealthy people talking down to the working class about their life choice, while ignoring the real cause of our environmental problem. It is no wonder no one is changing their behaviour—or that environmental destruction continues without becoming any less severe.
( )5.What can be inferred about the environmentalist movement from Paragraphs 2 and 3
A.It has targeted the wrong persons.
B.It has achieved its intended purposes.
C.It has solved the environmental problems.
D.It has persuaded consumers not to shop any more.
( )6.What does Leigh Phillips think of Boxing Day
A.A trap for consumers.
B.A tough problem to deal with.
C.A precious shopping opportunity.
D.A positive contribution to the economy.
( )7.For what purpose is Roman Abramovich mentioned in the text
A.To show how rich he is.
B.To announce he is a Russian.
C.To present his great contributions to the environment.
D.To suggest the real cause of environmental problems hasn’t been found.
( )8.What is the text mainly about
A.The environmental problems are very serious.
B.Less shopping can’t solve the environmental problems.
C.Resources are becoming fewer and fewer on the earth.
D.Measures should be taken to protect the environment.

I’m Tia, a passionate teenage girl, living next door to the corner of 71st Street. Most folks find there’s nothing there, just an empty lot. But to me, it’s like a wide-open treasure box. Stepping into it, I feel like leaping into a sea of green. The tall grass with butterflies gathering around, smells clean and fresh, and I wonder why I’m the only one who’s thankful for this place.
One evening, Mama said, “Tia, the city wants to turn that corner of yours into a parking lot.” I stopped in my tracks. “No! They can’t do that!”
“Tia, you have to make them see what you see. No one ever got any place by sitting back and staying quiet.” That night, I lay awake thinking for a long time. “I’ve got to do something.”
Early the next morning I dragged a chair down to the corner with a big cardboard on which I’d painted “No Parking Lot! Save Our Nature” in large letters. I sat down and waited. Most people passed by, paying no attention to me. My friend Tanya asked me what I was doing, and I told her. Then came Mrs DiRisio, a beauty shop owner, who angrily waved her hand at my sign, saying, “My customers need a place to park.” But I didn’t move. Then I noticed a woman down the street taking pictures of my corner. She walked over to me, smiling, “I’m Sara Bennett. Can I talk to you ” I nodded. I started talking, and Ms Bennett scribbled on a notepad. “A walking path would be nice, maybe a vegetable garden. And a bench, so people could sit down and listen to the birds singing.” I was surprised at myself, at how many ideas I’d got for this corner.
The next morning, my brother burst into my room with a morning paper. “Fighting for nature on the corner of 71st” was the title of the article, and along with it was a picture of me!
After breakfast my brother, Mama and I dragged our chairs and sign back to the corner.

We clearly have a growing resource problem. The products
we make, buy and use are often linked to the destruction of
our waterways, biodiversity, climate and the land on which
millions of people live, but to blame these issues on Christmas
shoppers is misguided, and puts us in the old trap of blaming
individuals for what is a systematic problem.
While we complain about environmental destruction over
Christmas, environmentalists often forget what the holiday
season actually means for many people.

In fact, for most, rather than an add-on to an already heavy
shopping year, Christmas is likely the only time of year they
have the opportunity to spend on friends and family, or even
just to buy the necessities needed for modern life. This is
particularly true for Boxing Day, often laughed at by anti-
consumerists the most. While we may look down on the queues
in front of the shops, for many, those sales provide the chance
to buy things they've needed all year. As journalist Leigh Phillips
argues, “This is one of the few times of the year that people

can even hope to afford such ‘luxuries’, the Christmas presents
their kids are asking for, or just an appliance that works.”
Indeed, the richest 7% of people are responsible for 50% of
greenhouse gas emissions. This becomes particularly harmful
when you take into account of our consumption “problem”
anyway. Why are environmentalists attacking these individuals,
while ignoring people like Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich,
who has his own £1.5 bn yacht with a missile defence system

Anyway, anti-consumerism has become a movement of
wealthy people talking down to the working class about their
life choice, while ignoring the real cause of our environmental
problem. It is no wonder no one is changing their behaviour—
or that environmental destruction continues without becoming
any less severe.

Driven by concerns about
resource exhaustion, over recent years environmentalists have
increasingly turned their sight on our ‘consumer culture’, with
groups such as The Story of Stuff and Buy Nothing New Day
growing as a movement that increasingly blames all our ills on
our desire to shop.”及第三段中“…but to blame these issues on
Christmas shoppers is misguided, and puts us in the old trap of
blaming individuals for what is a systematic problem.”
故选A。

NOTICE
Dear residents,
We all hope to have a safe and harmonious living
environment, recognizing its importance to our well-being. In
order to effectively eliminate fire hazards, our community has
worked out a policy that prohibits electric bikes from entering
buildings, a measure designed to prevent potential fire
incidents.
For the convenience of everyone, we have set up a fixed
storage area in the underground garage. It is necessary for
electric bikes to be placed in designated locations and
charged at designated charging stations. We believe everyone
will determinedly obey the rule, as it is beneficial to everyone.

I'm Tia, a passionate teenage girl, living next door to the
corner of 71st Street. Most folks find there's nothing there, just
an empty lot. But to me, it's like a wide-open treasure box.
Stepping into it, I feel like leaping into a sea of green. The tall
grass with butterflies gathering around, smells clean and fresh,
and I wonder why I'm the only one who's thankful for this
place.
One evening, Mama said, “Tia, the city wants to turn that
corner of yours into a parking lot.” I stopped in my tracks. “No!
They can't do that!”
“Tia, you have to make them see what you see. No one
ever got any place by sitting back and staying quiet.” That night,
I lay awake thinking for a long time. “I've got to do something.”
Early the next morning I dragged a chair down to the
corner with a big cardboard on which I'd painted “No Parking
Lot! Save Our Nature” in large letters. I sat down and waited.
Most people passed by, paying no attention to me. My friend
Tanya asked me what I was doing, and I told her. Then came
Mrs DiRisio, a beauty shop owner, who angrily waved her hand
at my sign, saying, “My customers need a place to park.” But
I didn't move. Then I noticed a woman down the street taking
pictures of my corner. She walked over to me, smiling, “I'm Sara
Bennett. Can I talk to you ” I nodded. I started talking, and Ms
Bennett scribbled on a notepad. “A walking path would be nice,
maybe a vegetable garden. And a bench, so people could sit
down and listen to the birds singing.” I was surprised at myself,
at how many ideas I'd got for this corner.
The next morning, my brother burst into my room with a
morning paper. “Fighting for nature on the corner of 71st” was
the title of the article, and along with it was a picture of me!
After breakfast my brother, Mama and I dragged our chairs
and sign back to the corner.
Paragraph 1:
To my amazement, I saw some familiar figures coming
towards us. __________________________________________________________
Paragraph 2:
A year later, the sign on the corner has made it
official.________________________________________________________________
One possible version:
To my amazement, I saw some familiar figures coming
towards us. My friend Tanya and her family, each carrying a
chair(独立主格结构), joined us! “Tia, You've got some good
ideas for this corner. We need a little nature around here.”
More and more neighbours showed up, waving signs and
making noises(现在分词作状语), including Mrs DiRisio. Mum
inspired me to make a speech. I did so days later. “If this is
the last little bit of nature in our neighbourhood(条件状语从
I spoke, “doesn't it make sense to try and save it ”
Everyone applauded at the end of my speech.
A year later, the sign on the corner has made it official.
Now we've got a walking path that curves and winds its way
through the 71st Street Nature Preserve(定语从句). We've got
a stone bench and plans for a vegetable garden. School groups
come here to collect leaves and study the insects and
birds(不定式作目的状语). Folks come here to walk, run or just
sit(不定式作目的状语), talking, laughing and listening to
(现在分词作状语)birds singing(现在分词作宾补). My corner isn't
just mine anymore, but I'm more than happy to share it.
