一、定义
间接疑问句是将直接疑问句(即普通疑问句)以 陈述语序 嵌入另一个句子中,使语气更委婉或正式。
直接疑问句:Where is the library
间接疑问句:Could you tell me where the library is
二、基本结构
间接疑问句由 主句 + 连接词 + 陈述语序 构成,分为两类:
1. 一般疑问句转为间接疑问句
连接词:用 if 或 whether(是否)引导。
语序:主语 + 谓语(不再倒装)。
直接疑问句 间接疑问句
Is she a teacher → I wonder if/whether she is a teacher.
Can they help us → Do you know if/whether they can help us
2. 特殊疑问句转为间接疑问句
连接词:保留原疑问词(what/when/where/how等)。
语序:主语 + 谓语(不再倒装)。
直接疑问句 间接疑问句
Where does he live → Could you tell me where he lives
What time does it start → Do you know what time it starts
三、使用场景
1、礼貌请求(比直接问句更委婉):
Could you tell me how I can get to the station
2、转述问题:
She asked why you were late.
3、表达不确定:
I’m not sure if this answer is correct.
四、注意事项
1、时态一致:若主句是过去时,间接疑问句需调整时态(但客观事实除外)。
He asked where she lived.(原句:Where does she live )
2、省略助动词:间接疑问句中无需助动词 do/does/did,动词直接按主语变位。
错误:Do you know where did he go
正确:Do you know where he went
3、标点符号:间接疑问句末尾用句号,不用问号。
