(2025高一下·浙江期中)Nearly everyone at All Things Wild Rehabilitation, a shelter for injured and displaced wildlife in Georgetown, agrees that Polly, the shelter's 1-year-old Pekin duck, has never known a stranger. "She's veryclingy to everybody here," said Jessica Green, Polly's caretaker. "She loves being a loved duck."
Polly was brought to the shelter last October after losing part of her bill (鸟嘴) in what staff members believe was an animal attack. "Polly might come as an Easter gift for a kid… and somebody got tired of all of the work that it takes to raise a little duckling, so they dropped off her at a pond in Leander," Green said. "After being dropped off, we believe Polly was attacked by a snapping turtle, resulting in the injury."
As a Pekin duck, Polly was never meant to live in the wild. "It's a domestic (驯养的) duck here. Not native. Releasing it to local ponds… there's just very low chances of survival." But Polly survived and captured both the hearts and minds of Georgetown residents.
Months ago, All Things Wild reached out to Southwestern university's 3-D printing lab to inquire about the possibility of creating an artificial bill for Polly, which would allow Polly to do something she currently can't do without help.
"Sure, we'll give it a go." said Andrade, a junior at the University. "We've just kept doing all of the research and scanning and modeling required… and we've actually made some progress." Hopefully, Polly will have an artificial bill to try on this June.
Jeff Manley, owner of a pet supply store chain in Georgetown, decided to raise funds for Polly's new bill. He now sells duck dog toys at his stores in honor of Polly. "It's definitely something people can relate to. Buying a duck toy gives people something they can hold onto and say, ‘Look, I helped make this happen.'"
Manley was impressed by the community's reaction to the fundraiser. "I think that's what Georgetown is about — about the community and supporting each other."
24.What does the word "clingy" in Paragraph 1 most likely mean
A.Socially active. B.Naturally curious.
C.Physically weak. D.Emotionally attached.
25.What caused Polly's bill injury according to the article
A.An attack by a certain wild animal.
B.An accident in an Easter celebration.
C.An injury from human mistreatment.
D.A conflict with other domestic ducks.
26.Why can't Pekin ducks survive well in the wild
A.They are too small to defend themselves.
B.They struggle to find enough food in ponds.
C.They easily get lost in unfamiliar environments.
D.They are domesticated and can't adapt to nature.
27.Which of the following is the most suitable title for the passage
A.Polly's Journey with Innovative 3D Printing.
B.Community Love to Give a Duck a Second Chance.
C.A Successful Fundraising Story Behind a Duck Toy.
D.Dangers of Releasing Domestic Ducks into the Wild.
(2025高一下·浙江期中)Some of us like to keep some things private — maybe we don't want people knowing about our relationship status, our age or where we live— because these details are personal. The problem is, everywhere we go online, we seem to leave adigital footprint.
On our social media accounts, we often display things like our opinions, connections and holiday snaps. The issue is that how we can stop everybody seeing everything. Maybe we don't want a stranger knowing our favourite type of coffee. And cookies — there was a time they were just something nice to eat. Now they seem to be popping up (弹出) on websites, which are designed to improve your browsing (浏览) experience by tracking and saving information about your visits to a website, helping to personalize your sessions. So how can you stay more private
There are some steps you can take. First, on your social media accounts, check you privacy settings. Many social media platforms allow everything to be seen by default (系统设定), so the duty is on you to set your limits. Moreover, sharing less personal information isn't just for social media. There are many websites out there that help you to share documents, so a good tip might be not to put anything too private on there, like passwords. One improper click may send it to the wrong person. Finally, as for cookies, deleting your browsing history may help, but there are certain applications which can stop them if you don't feel comfortable.
So, if you want to maintain your privacy online, maybe only share things you'd be happy with a stranger seeing, and if you don't feel comfortable with cookies, you might decide to invest in some technology to stop them. If that's not enough, just don't accept them and visit another site, and why not have a yummy cookie to eat instead

A.The history of internet usage.
B.The cookies stored by websites.
C.The physical marks left by walking.
D.The tracks of personal information left online
29.What is the possible problem of cookies popping up on websites
A.They might collect users' browsing data.
B.They can block unwanted advertisements.
C.They will delete browsing history automatically.
D.They can prevent strangers from accessing personal data.

A.Deleting your browsing history is of no use.
B.Privacy settings on social media need to be adjusted.
C.Accepting all cookies improves browsing experience.
D.Saving passwords on document-sharing websites is safe.
31.What is the main purpose of the text
A.To criticize the use of social media.
B.To encourage sharing personal details.
C.To suggest ways to protect online privacy.
D.To explain how cookies improve browsing.
(2025高一下·浙江期中)For most of modern history, humanoid robots, robots that looks like us and walks like us, have primarily been seen on movie and TV screen, while the robots in factories and other real-world places have taken the less attractive form of mechanical arms or giant vacuum cleaners (吸尘器). That's starting to change as a group of startups make humanoid robots a reality and promise corporate managers increased productivity and a solution to labor shortages.
In September, investment management firm ARK published a report about humanoid robots that put the potential market at trillions (万亿) of dollars. Although the report did not provide any specific timeline, it pointed out that if the cost of a humanoid robot were to be $16,000, the robots would need to deliver only 5% more efficiency than a human worker to be economically efficient.
For all their promise, humanoids still have their limits. Many of the current robots can operate for only about four to five hours before needing a battery recharge. And not everyone is convinced that the human figure is the ideal form for a robot. Amazon spokesperson Xasier Van Chau says that while the company sees promise in the humanoid form factor, it has not yet determined if it will use them long-term and also wants to test other types of robots, perhaps those that move with wheels instead of legs.
According to Brad Porter, the former vice president of robotics at Amazon, there's a fundamental problem with creating a robot capable of operating autonomously (自主地) in different situations: There is not enough data to train AI models to safely control the robots.
Whatever shape these robots finally take, the question remains of what happens to human jobs as robot use increases. Agility's Johnson says Digita, a robot produced by the company, is taking on tasks humans don't want or that aging workers can't or shouldn't be doing. Figure's Adeock thinks technological advancements, whether it's the creation of a dish washer or a humanoid robot, are unavoidable. He says, "It's basically what's been happening for two centuries."
32.Where were humanoid robots mainly found before recent developments
A.In laboratories for AI research. B.In factories as mechanical arms.
C.In movies and television programs. D.In households as cleaning devices.
33.What is ARK's attitude toward the economic potential of humanoid robots
A.Positive. B.Doubtful. C.Negative. D.Unconcerned.
34.According to the passage, we can know ________.
A.Amazon has decided to replace humanoid robots with wheeled robots.
B.All experts don't agree that human-like bodies are the best design for robots.
C.The basic problem for autonomous robots is that their AI models are not safe.
D.At present the battery life of humanoid robots is at least 4 to 5 hours between charges.
35.What does the last paragraph mainly talk about
A.All manual labor will disappear within a decade.
B.Humans will focus on roles requiring creativity and empathy.
C.Robots will handle only dangerous tasks, leaving other jobs to humans.
D.Debates on jobs taken by machines will continue as robots are used in more places.

It was the last game of the season. Cali had been playing soccer all summer. She really enjoyed running around with the other players in her bright blue uniform, chasing the black and white ball across the grassy field. As much as she tried, though, Cali still had not scored one single goal.
"Don't give up," said her coach and her teammates. They have always been giving her encouragement. Cali was pretty good at passing the ball, but even during daily practices, she couldn't kick the ball past the goalkeeper. She wondered if she should quit soccer for good.
"Don't give up," said Uncle George and Aunt Lisa. But this game was half-time, and Cali was feeling upset. Every time she got a chance to kick the ball, however, it would go in the wrong direction or a player from the other team would take control of it. She thought maybe she would try a different sport next summer.
The break was over and the referee (裁判) blew her whistle to start the game again. The two teams walked back onto the field, both determined to win. Cali bent, tied up her shoelace and heard her aunt whisper in her ear. "Look for an opportunity to get the ball. You can do it."
Cali stood up and took a deep breath. She knew she had tried her best. That was something to be proud of. So she smiled at her aunt and headed to her position. The whistle blew, and the game continued.
The score was tied with one goal each. Girls from both team ran wildly after the ball. Cali was standing to the side when the ball headed her way. She ran over to it and kicked it but it was stopped by a girl from yellow team. Cali sighed. The ball went back and forth between the players. Cali's heart wasn't in the game anymore. Suddenly, there came some sweet happy music. It was from an ice cream truck, which was driving right beside the soccer field, playing its music loudly to attract customers.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;

Ashwath Kaushik was just 8 years, 6 months and 11 days old when he beat Polish grandmaster Jacek Stopa on February 18th, 2024 in Switzerland. According to The Star, a newspaper in Malaysia, Ashwath started playing chess with his grandparents when he was 4 years old, and after just a couple of months he beat them. He now plays chess for 2 hours a day on weekdays, and 6 to 7 hours a day on weekends. However, he still finds time for other activities like cycling, visiting the zoo with his family and completing jigsaw puzzles. Asked why he likes chess, Ashwath told The Star: "It's really fun, and it helps my brain get better and smarter because in chess I need a lot of thinking to find the best moves."

Some of us like to keep some things private—maybe we don't want people knowing about our relationship status, our age or where we live—because these details are personal. The problem is, everywhere we go online, we seem to leave a digital footprint." On our social media accounts, we often display things like our opinions, connections and holiday snaps. The issue is that how we can stop everybody seeing everything."
And cookies—there was a time they were just something nice to eat. Now they seem to be popping up (弹出) on websites, which are designed to improve your browsing (浏览) experience by tracking and saving information about your visits to a website, helping to personalize your sessions." 故选A。
First, on your social media accounts, check you privacy settings. Many social media platforms allow everything to be seen by default (系统设定), so the duty is on you to set your limits."

For most of modern history, humanoid robots, robots that looks like us and walks like us, have primarily been seen on movie and TV screen, while the robots in factories and other real-world places have taken the less attractive form of mechanical arms or giant vacuum cleaners (吸尘器)."
In September, investment management firm ARK published a report about humanoid robots that put the potential market at trillions (万亿) of dollars. Although the report did not provide any specific timeline, it pointed out that if the cost of a humanoid robot were to be $16,000, the robots would need to deliver only 5% more efficiency than a human worker to be economically efficient."9月,投资管理公司ARK发布了一份关于人形机器人的报告,指出其潜在市场价值可达数万亿美元。 故选A。
And not everyone is convinced that the human figure is the ideal form for a robot. Amazon spokesperson Xasier Van Chau says that while the company sees promise in the humanoid form factor, it has not yet determined if it will use them long-term and also wants to test other types of robots, perhaps those that move with wheels instead of legs."
He says, ‘It's basically what's been happening for two centuries.'"

The players on both teams turned to look at the truck and so did Cali. Some girls cheered with great joy, even calling out their parents to buy them one. As for Cali, she seemed to forget about her frustration and just enjoyed the sound. But then she heard her aunt's voice again, clear and encouraging: "Cali, focus! You've got this!" The words snapped her back to the game. She glanced at the field and saw the ball rolling toward her. Was that her chance She looked at her aunt, who nodded at her firmly. "Now!" her aunt yelled excitedly.
Hearing her aunt's yell, Cali dashed over to the ball. She quickly controlled it with her feet, weaving past one defender and then another. Her heart pounded as she sprinted toward the goal, the cheers of her teammates ringing in her ears. The goalkeeper shifted nervously, preparing to block her shot. Cali steadied herself, aimed carefully, and with a powerful kick, sent the ball flying into the top corner of the net. The referee blew her whistle. "Goal!" The crowd erupted in cheers, and her teammates rushed to hug her. Cali felt a rush of pride and joy — she had finally scored her first goal.
Cali, focus! You've got this!" 特别是"snapped her back to the game"这一动作描写,生动表现出她从恍惚到清醒的转变。第二段通过"dashed/controlled/ weaving/sprinted/steadied/aimed/sent"等一连串动词,将进球过程分解为多个连贯动作,形成强烈的画面感和节奏感。结尾处"rush of pride and joy"与首段"feeling upset"形成鲜明对比,而"finally scored her first goal"则完美呼应了原文中她"not scored one single goal"的遗憾,使故事在圆满中收束。

28.According to the passage, what does "digital footprint" in paragraph 1 refer to
A.The history of internet usage.
30.Which of the following would the writer probably agree with
A.Deleting your browsing history is of no use.
【答案】28.D
29.A

He says, ‘It's basically what's been happening for two centuries.'"

注意:
1. 续写词数应为150个左右;
