In 1866, a terrible sea creature is seen by several ships. Biologist Professor Pierre Aronnax and his servant, Conseil, join a ship to find and kill the creature. After a long journey into the Pacific Ocean, the creature is finally seen. While attacking from the ship,Aronnax and Conseil, along with the whale hunter Ned Land, fall into the sea, and discover that the “creature" is actually a submarine.They are captured and taken inside the submarine, where they meet the man in charge, Captain Nemo. Ahead of its time, the submarine is also a secret from the rest of the world. In order to keep this secret,Captain Nemo tells his three newest passengers that they are not permitted to leave the submarine.While Ned Land can think only of escaping, Aronnax and Conseil are fascinated by their adventures in the new underwater world. In this part adapted from a chapter of the book, Aronnax describes the experience of walking on the sea bed...

介词 + which/whom(指物用which,指人用whom)
例:The book on which I spent $10 is useful. (对应动词搭配:spend money on sth.)
看先行词:先行词与介词的习惯搭配(如in the room, on Monday)
when = 介词 + which(时间)
the day on which we met = the day when we met
where = 介词 + which(地点)
the city in which I live = the city where I live
why = for which(原因)
the reason for which he left = the reason why he left
1. 单选题
① The man ______ you shook hands is my boss.
A. whom B. with whom C. to whom
② The house ______ windows face south is very expensive.
A. whose B. of which C. which
③ The school ______ I studied for 3 years has closed.
④ The reason ______ he was late is clear.
B
A
in which
for which
如look after不可拆为after which,应说the baby whom you look after。
逗号后只用which/whom,不用that。
例:He gave me a book, from which I learned a lot.
用“数词/代词 + of + which/whom”。例:I have 3 books, two of which are novels.
Read the passage carefully to understand each word and each sentence’s meaning.
How many sentences are there
Read the passage carefully to understand each word and each sentence’s meaning.
“先去插入语,再分主谓语;
从句分层拆,逻辑词标记;
翻译先主干,修饰往后续;
1. 先译主干,再译修饰(从句拆成短句,介词短语提前);
2. 逻辑词(because/although)优先翻译,明确因果/让步关系。
“Although tired, she kept studying until midnight to prepare for the exam.”
The result, in my opinion, is not surprising.
The result is not surprising.
The city that I visited last year, which lies in the south, has developed rapidly.
破题:先找第一层从句that I visited last year(修饰city),再找第二层从句which lies in the south(补充说明city)。
否定转移:I don’t think he is wrong.(实际否定“he is wrong”);
No one can deny the importance of practice.(= 所有人都承认练习的重要性)。
强调句:It is science that changes our life.(还原:Science changes our life.);
Hardly had he arrived when it rained.(还原:He had hardly arrived when it rained.)。

B. The sound of the submarine.
C. The reflection of the sun.

解析:定位原文:“...which accounted for the vibration which passed through every atom of liquid.”

What does the author’s detailed description of the underwater light suggest
A. The limitations of human vision underwater.
B. The magical and extraordinary nature of the underwater world.

D. The danger of strong sunlight underwater.
解析:文中对水下光线 “astonished me by its power” “I could see as if I was in broad daylight” 等描述,突出水下世界光线奇特,展现其神奇非凡,并非强调人类视觉局限、潜艇照明优越或水下阳光危险。
Why does the author compare the underwater sand to “a dazzling carpet” and “a reflector”
A. To emphasize(强调)the texture(质地) of the sand.
B. To illustrate(说明) the practical use of the sand on the sea bed.
C. To convey(传达) the unique and beautiful appearance of the underwater environment.
D. To show the similarity between the sea bed and the land.
