In the near future, we may be able to taste food and drinks "online" before buying them. A new tool made by scientists at Ohio State University in the US makes it possible to share taste on the Internet.
When we eat or drink, our teeth and tongues(舌头) break the food into little pieces. During this process, very small things called molecules(分子) come out of these pieces. The taste buds(味蕾) on our tongues catch these molecules and"tell" the brain about them. The brain then. knows what flavors(味道). we're tasting.
The "e-Taste" tool has two main parts. It's easy to know if the plate I'm washing is my grandfather's-it will have no food left. He grew up practically keeping his plate clean and still does it at almost 90 years of age.
