Hello, my name is Malee, and I am from Thailand. Elephants are my favourite animals because they are strong and clever. They are a symbol of good luck in our country. They are our national animals, and we celebrate Thai Elephant Day on March 13th every year.
Elephants are different from other animals. They are huge in size. With their long trunks (象鼻), they are able to carry heavy things. They also have big ears.
Elephants are similar to us in some ways. They are playful and love playing in the water. They have a good memory. For example, they can remember places with food and water after many years. They are also very kind. When an elephant is ill, other elephants will help it. And the older elephants often look after the younger ones.
Elephants play an important part in Thai culture and life. Sadly, they are in danger now. People cut down many trees and destroy their natural homes — forests. Some people even kill them for their ivory (象牙). We must do something to save the elephants. Elephants are important, and it’s our duty to protect them.
