I have this hobby thanks to my grandpa. He is a stamp collector, and he has thousands of stamps. Some of them are valuable, so he always keeps them with great care. My grandpa bought it for me. “They built it thousands of years ago, and they built it to keep the enemies (敌人) away.” he told me. My grandpa also shared many other interesting stories about the Great Wall. Thanks to this stamp, I became interested in Chinese history, and I started to collect stamps. When I was a little girl, my aunt brought me a colorful fridge magnet (冰箱贴) from her trip to Paris. It had the Eiffel Tower on it, and I thought it was beautiful. I was so excited to have something from such a famous place. That was when I decided to start collecting magnets.
Over the years, my collection grew as my family and friends travelled to different countries. Every time they went on a trip, I asked them to bring me a fridge magnet. Some were small and simple, while others were large and colourful. I have magnets not only from famous cities like New York, Tokyo, and London, but also from smaller places, like a peaceful village by the sea.
Each magnet is special to me. I keep them all on the fridge in my kitchen. Every time I look at one, it brings back memories. Some remind me of my fun holidays, while others are from places I still dream of visiting. I love reading about the history and culture of the places on my magnets. It feels like I’ve travelled the world without leaving home!
Now, I have a very large collection of them. Each new magnet adds to the story of my adventures. For me, it’s not just a hobby—it’s a way to connect (连接) with the world and keep my favourite memories close.
