(Guangdong Version)
Reading Aloud
Welcome to Computer-based English Listening and Speaking Test. CELST is a module of National Matriculation English Test (Guangdong Version), consisting of three parts. Part A is Reading Aloud. In this part, you are required to watch a video clip and read after the speaker in the video. Part B is Role Play. In this part, you are required to act as a role and complete three communicative tasks: listen to a speaker, ask the speaker three questions and then answer five questions from the computer acting as another role. Part C is Retelling. In this part, you are required to listen to a monologue, and then retell what you have heard in your own words.
The Earth is bathed in a flood of energy from the sun. A tiny part of that energy is the sunlight we see. All light, and therefore all color, carries energy. This is a star that’s glowing red. This color tells us its temperature is about 3,000 degrees Celsius. From this, we know we’re looking at an aging star coming to the end of its life. And this is a star that’s glowing blue. This color indicates a temperature of nearly 10,000 degrees. So we know it’s a younger and hotter star. So color isn’t just energy. It’s also information.
M: Hi, Mary. What's your plan for the weekend
W: I'm going to my grandma's fashion show..
M: Oh, I had no idea that your grandma is a fashion designer.
W: No, she's not a designer, but a model. She's going to perform in the
show. It's a big event. There are altogether 22 models in the show.
M: That's amazing. May I ask how old she is
W: She's 72 years old. For her, age is just a number.
M: I see. Has she always been a fashion model
W: No, my grandma used to teach dancing at an art school.

文本
她是怎么成为一名时装模特的?
It all started when she helped one of her former students with his online clothing business. He invited my grandma to be his model. It was quite a success. The student then encouraged my grandma to get some professional training in modeling. She took the advice, but the only training program she could find was for young people. She had no choice but to train with them.
Q1:
A1:
How did she become a fashion model
跟年轻人一起训练她感觉如何?
She was quite comfortable with that. She believed she was just as capable. She kept her silver hair the way it was, and that turned out to be a shining point. In fact, her silver hair caught the attention of a famous fashion designer. He invited my grandma to model for many fashion shows. So, she got more experience in walking the stage. Now, she's even giving modeling lessons.
Q2:
A2:
How does she feel training with young people
她的学员也是老年人吗?

A Dear Friend
Tom was a wildlife expert. One day, when he was doing research in a forest, Tom noticed some blood on the ground. He looked around and found a baby deer lying beside a big tree. There was a wound in its leg. When the deer saw Tom, it tried to run away, but couldn't even get up. Thinking that it would be difficult for the deer to recover on its own, Tom gave the deer some quick treatment and took it home. Tom took good care of the deer. He checked its wound every day and noticed the wound was gradually growing into a mark in the shape of a heart. When the deer was able to run around, Tom knew it was time for the deer to return to the forest. So he sent it back. A few months later, when Tom went back to the forest for his research, he met a group of deer. To his surprise, one of the deer ran towards him. When the deer got closer, Tom recognized the heart-shaped mark on its leg. It was the deer that he had saved. Tom was happy to see his dear friend safe and sound.
Practice makes perfect.
