A road is just like a bridge between two places. The Silk Road has been a bridge between East and West. But the Silk Road is not a single route! It is a series of trade and cultural transmission routes. From the time Zhang Qian opened up the world-famous Silk Road during the Han Dynasty, until the Yuan Dynasty, it enjoyed a history of about l,600 years.
This ancient road begins at Chang’an (now Xi’an), and it reaches Dunhuang, where it divides into three, the Southern Route, Central Route and Northern Route. And then it ends in Eastern Europe, near the Mediterranean Sea (地中海). The Silk Road is about 6,500 kilometers long. It goes across one-fourth of the planet. In fact, there is another trade road which is called the “Silk Road on the Sea” in the southwest of China.
The Silk Road was very important to both China and the rest of the world. Besides trade, knowledge about science, arts and technologies were shared across the Silk Road. The Four Great Inventions of China was introduced to the West and Chinese also knew about the religions of the West. In this way, languages and cultures developed and influenced each other. Today, places along the Silk Road are great places of interest, such as the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an and Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, Gansu.

The appeal of country life and finding inner peace in a quiet, ancient town close to grasslands and lakes, far from vehicles and laptops, drew large numbers of tourists to Yunnan Province’s Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture during this year’s Spring Festival.
This romantic life in Dali was recently vividly depicted (描绘 ) in a popular television soap opera. Scoring 8.3 on the Internet, the places the soap opera’s main character visited and the things she experienced have attracted hordes of tourists to localities where the scenes were shot.
A week after the show was first screened in early January, searches for Dali doubled on online travel agency Fliggy, and those for Shaxi ancient town, where many of the scenes were shot, surged 10-fold, while associated (相关的) keywords became top searches on a number of occasions.
One tourist from Zhuhai, a city in Guangdong Province, told Yunnan Daily that she had come to visit the house where the main character lived in Fengyangyi village, saying she wanted to experience the slow life in Dali.
Mi Dou, who drove from Chengdu in neighboring Sichuan Province, told that she waited in line for an hour to visit the house. She also said that although she didn’t know its exact location, she hoped to visit the tree under which the main character had cried.
Dali, a region famous for the Cangshan Mountain, Erhai Lake and its Bai ethnic culture, received some 4.23 million tourist visits during the Spring Festival, with tourism revenue (财政收入) growing to about 3.16 billion yuan, according to data from the local culture and tourism bureau (局) .

Recently, my school took a trip to Disney World in Shanghai. I was so excited! My parents had taken me there before, but this was my first time going with my school and my friends, so I was looking forward to it.
The ride I liked the most was Pirates of the Caribbean (加勒比海盗). It wasn’t too fast or scary, but it was really fun. The boat went through a pirate world with cool music, lights and talking pirates! It felt like we were part of the story. It was so funny when one of us shouted loudly when a pirate suddenly jumped out of the water after the ride.
Another funny moment was when we went to meet the Disney princesses. My friend Katie was so nervous meeting Cinderella. She kept practicing what to say, but when it was her turn, she just froze with a smile on her red face. We all laughed so much! It was a little embarrassing for her, but we all had fun.
What I really liked about this trip was how much fun we had as a group. Sometimes, it’s easy to get caught up in schoolwork and life, but this trip reminded me how important it is to take a break, enjoy the moment and make memories with friends.
Disney World felt like a place where you could forget about everything else and just feel relaxed and thankful for these special moments with friends. I found life is about enjoying the journey, not just the destination (目的地).

Imagine walking happily on a special city route (路线), and you can visit the markets, the ancient streets and the “treasure” shops or taste local snacks there. It’s called “Citywalk”.
Citywalk began in London, England. It is a fun way to visit cities. Instead of going to famous places with lots of tourists, many young people prefer to walk around and see different things.
Citywalk can be done with a group of friends or just by yourself. The idea is to see parts of the city that are not so well-known. In big cities like Beijing and Shanghai, this trend (趋势) is really popular. Now it’s spreading to smaller cities too.
For example, Xiao Yiyi, a young lady in Changsha, has made six special Citywalk routes (线). She wants people to feel like they are walking in an open-air museum. In Changsha, her walk includes old buildings from the 1800s and the streets.
Big cities like Beijing and Shanghai are adding Citywalk to their cultural tourism plans. They’re making new routes and helping tourists get to less-known places by public transport.
At present, Citywalk is still something new for many people in China. But those who work in tourism think it’s going to be really popular. Zhang Zhi, a tour guide from Beijing, says that young tourists want trips that are more personal. Tour guides are sharing their Citywalk experiences online to draw more young people’s attention. Citywalk is not just a walk; it is a special adventure!
37.Where did Citywalk begin
38.What is Xiao Yiyi’s purpose of making so many Citywalk routes

How can you learn about a city City walk might be a great choice. Instead of simply walking around, city walkers follow certain routes (路线) on different themes. Along the way, they observe, take photos, listen to the guide. Also, they take part in fun activities.
The idea of city walk is growing in China now. It has been one of the top 10 popular lifestyle trends (趋势) according to a study.
City walk first appeared in London, England to make tourists travel like locals. A group of people followed a guide, enjoyed the city’s streets, saw buildings up close, and got a deep understanding of the history and culture. At that time, city walk emphasized (强调) the importance of heartfelt feeling and a new understanding.
But in China, city walk emphasizes following the heart and moving at a slower speed. People don’t need to have a good plan before they start walking. Unlike walking in the park or in the mountains, city walk includes discovering old buildings, exploring special shops, having a cup of coffee, trying local food and so on. People take photos, make videos and share their stories online. This way, they tell others where they go and what they find.
In this fast-paced world, young people always work hard and they have little time for local exploration. City walk helps them have a warmer, more relaxing and slower-paced lifestyle. That’s the reason why it is so popular with young people.
City walk is not just a way to travel but can be a part of our daily lives. It is a lifestyle, an attitude that everyone can try. Just start to watch everything around you whenever you walk, from your school or company to your home. You’ll always find something surprising. Let’s take a walk together and explore the beauty of daily life.

For children, when they read about humanistic monuments (人文古迹) and natural scenic spots (景点) in textbooks, they often become interested in them and want to go there in person. The textbook tour has become popular gradually. It allows parents and children to deepen their understanding of the scenes (场景) mentioned in the textbooks.
Many families have followed the stories in the textbooks and choose places to take trips. They can experience different cultures and historical stories. For example, in Fuzhou, parents and children can watch lively shows and visit the Opera Museum to learn more about Tang Xianzu, a great opera writer from the Ming Dynasty.
Through these tours, children can have a deeper understanding of the stories in their textbooks and further increase their senses of identity (身份) and pride in the motherland. Besides, parents can also learn about traditional Chinese culture from the tours, and the trips can improve the relationships between parents and their children.
The rise of the textbook tour is a great chance for the connection between culture and tourism. For example, the Wenchuan government held some activities on the birthday of Dayu, where history teachers would introduce “Dayu culture” to tourists. As the textbook tour becomes popular, the local governments should offer good service to achieve a win-win situation for both scenic spots and tourists.

No resting with “special forces” travel
A new kind of travel style becomes popular in China. It’s called “special forces tourism (特种兵式旅游) ”. It means that people travel to many places during short holidays. Would you like to try this Where do you want to go
Ma Wencan
I can’t wait for it! As a student, we always feel stressed from studying. To see the world and learn the cultures and traditions of different places is also important for us. And the best way is traveling. I want to visit Shanghai, a city with both traditional cultures and cool technologies. In the morning, I will start my day by having pan-fried pork buns. It’s the best choice for breakfast. Then I’m going to take a walk along the Bund and enjoy the views of the city. In the afternoon, I’ll pay a visit to the Oriental Pearl Tower. And I’d like to enjoy the night views by boat.
Li Mohan
A: I don’t want to travel in this way. From my point of view, traveling is a way to relax. You can see beautiful views along the way, taste local food and learn about local conditions and customs. If you travel in a hurry, you won’t have a good experience. Although you can visit a lot of interesting places, you can’t learn deeply about the history behind them. Also, you will be very tired. So, I’d like to slow down when traveling and learn deeper things about the places.
Pan Yanzhu
I’m not into this so-called “special forces tourism”. People will become very tired if they go to too many places in a day. Moreover, tourists may not be able to enjoy themselves when they are traveling in a hurry. B: 计划他们的旅行花费很长时间. It’s tiring before the trip starts! Although you can do a lot of things during holidays, I don’t think the trip will be enjoyable and meaningful.

An island with beautiful white beaches and clear blue water full of colorful fish … this is Socotra. It sounds nice, but it doesn’t sound very unusual, does it Well, there’s a lot more to Socotra than that. You can see things there that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Socotra is in the Indian Ocean, 250 kilometers east of Africa and 340 kilometers south of Yemen. The island separated from Africa six million years ago, and over that time it has developed its own unique plant life. If you travel away from the beautiful beaches and up into the rocky mountains in the middle of the island, you may feel like you’re going back in time.

One of the most unusual plants on Socotra is the “dragon’s blood” tree. It is shaped like an umbrella, with a lot of branches (枝) under a green top. The tree gets its name from the red sap (树液) that comes out when it is cut. This sap has been used for centuries as a medicine and to make red dye and paint.
Socotra isn’t an easy place for tourists to visit. To get there, you need to fly from Yemen. There are only a few hotels in its largest town, Hadibo, and the island doesn’t have many good roads. “Nothing in the world is difficult if you set your mind to it.” And we made it!
It’s Day 45 of our expedition (考察队) to the South Pole (极). This must be one of the most difficult days I’ve ever had. I walked against the wind and snow with a heavy breath in the sub-zero temperatures. We’re finally just a few miles away from our destination (目的地).
This whole trip has been very difficult. We’ve been walking around 12 hours a day and I’m very tired. However. I can’t complain because it’s nothing compared to the journey of Roald Amundsen. Whenever I was almost ready to give up, I tried to think of how he overcame his difficulties more than 100 years ago.
This journey has been special even though at times it felt like it was never going to end. First, it’s not easy to move over the snow and ice that seems like a frozen ocean. Sometimes, it’s hard to see more than a few meres because of the white snow and the snow storms. Luckily, we have planned the routes (路线) well.
Another challenge of the journey is preparing good food. For example, hot food has to be eaten fast, as it gets cold quickly. Sometimes, we just have some nuts and sweets since there’s no time to stop for a proper meal. Even so, we’ve always made sure that we eat the right food so that we could continue our journey with enough energy.
I think the hardest part is protecting our feet. It would be awful if we couldn’t get to the pole because of foot or other (C) injuries. Our team doctor has always treated our injuries well and has kept us in good shape.
Well, we made it! It feels wonderful to finally be standing at the South Pole! This expedition has taught me that we need to overcome all kinds of difficulties before we can succeed and that we should (D) ________.

When I was in India in 2012, I stayed with a local family. During that time, I kept hearing some loud, regular chant (吟唱). I asked about it on the first day and was told that it was a call to prayer (祷告). Yes, that was what I had thought. But I didn’t realize the chant was actually the doorbell until the fourth day! If I had been traveling faster, if I had left on the third day, I would have held a completely different understanding of the chant in my mind.
Going to the movies when traveling is not something that is typically on a travel plan, unless one is traveling slow. During a three-week stay in Haly, I went to Cineteca di Bologna, which showed international films. There I met Linda and Rosie, both Americans. Linda’s husband Gabe, a local, was also there. We watched the movie together. After the film, they invited me to dinner at a local restaurant, Gabe’s favorite. At the restaurant, no menu. was offered. Instead, after some conversations with a waiter, our meals were decided. Their kindness gave me a chance to go where tourists never go and to experience one of the locals’ favorite restaurants.
If you also want to try slow travel, the following may be helpful for you to have a better understanding of the place where you will visit.
●Travel in the off-season. Visit your destination without a lot of tourists in the way. Some tourist sights are not open, but you may find more of the local culture.
●Stay where the locals live, which helps you enter the local life quickly.
●Shop at markets and stores where you can find local products.

Lisbon (里斯本) is one of the oldest capitals in Europe. It is on the west coast of Portugal (葡萄牙). Its rich history, colorful traditions and more modern attractions make it a fascinating city.
Anyone lucky enough to visit Lisbon will find a lot of things to see and do. You can start your tour from the Castle of Sao Jorge. The castle was built on a hill many years ago. When you stand on the top of the castle, you can enjoy a good view of the city. Then you can go to Alfama, which is the oldest part of Lisbon. Visitors can walk along its narrow streets where they can see fish sellers who are carrying baskets on their heads. The baskets look very heavy, but they can carry them easily.
Next, you can go to Baixa, a busy shopping area of the city. It offers plenty of handmade souvenirs and some wonderful clothes.
Lisbon’s nightlife is relaxing and different. Visitors can have a coffee in Bairro Alto, the ancient port of the city. You can enjoy traditional Portuguese music there.
