This victory has helped Argentina win another World Cup after their last win in 1986.Meanwhile, to some extent, it also ended the shadow of Argentina soccer legend Diego Maradona over Messi.

For people suffering from depression (抑郁), there’s an all-natural treatment they should use — getting more exercise. It could help fight depression, even if people have a genetic risk, new research shows.
For the study, researchers collected information from nearly 8,000 people and found those with related genes were more likely to have depression over the next two years after examining them. But that was less likely for people who were more active at the study’s start, even if they had a family history of depression.Higher levels of physical activity helped protect even those with the highest genetic risk of depression.
Both high-intensity (高强度) exercise and low-intensity activities were associated with a reduced risk of depression.Adding four hours of exercise a week could lower the risk of a new episode (一段时期) of depression by 17%, according to the study.“Our findings strongly suggest that, when it comes to depression, being physically active has the potential to remove the added risk of future episodes in individuals who are genetically risky,” said lead author Karmel Choi.“On average, about 35 additional minutes of physical activity each day may help people to reduce their risk and protect against future depression episodes.”
Depression is a common mental illness globally, with more than 264 million people affected.“Depression is so ubiquitous, and that underlines the need for effective approaches that can impact as many people as possible,” Choi said. And mental health and primary care providers can use the findings to advise patients that there’s something meaningful they can do to lower their risk of depression.

A.By analysing a mass of data. B.By conducting genetic research.
C.By comparing various levels of activity. D.By tracking the subjects for many years.
29.What does the study show about depression?( )
A.Physical activity betters medical treatment.
B.Exercise may decrease and prevent it.
C.Different levels of exercise intensity matter the same.

A.Simple. B.Complex.
C.Unusual. D.Common.
31.What is the purpose of the text?( )
A.To discuss a disease. B.To introduce a scientific study.
C.To analyse a genetic risk. D.To explain a phenomenon.

During excavations (发掘) in the town of Engen, in the district of Konstanz, Germany, a team led by Dr Yvonne Tafelmaier of the University of Tübingen, continued research into a cave that was used during the Magdalenian period, around 16,000 to 14,000 years ago.Although the cave was already known to scientists, they had not discovered the original entrance until now.
The last people to enter the original entrance of the cave would have been Ice Age hunter-gatherers (游猎采集部族成员), according to the find.“Such a find offers the opportunity to answer important questions about the behavior of late Ice Age hunter-gatherers with modern methods,” Tafelmaier said.
A small part of the cave was found by scientists in 1978, when researchers made a hole in its top, allowing them to discover when it was in use.The cave would probably have been a place where Ice Age hunter-gatherers lived, they found. The hole in the cave was closed and further exploration was left for future scientists.New excavations began in 2021 and during six weeks of work, scientists gathered more information but the original cave entrance remained undiscovered.
In April of this year, however, Tafelmaier’s team began exploring the cave.Using imaging methods, they managed to locate a 65-foot hole and on 4 July, they finally discovered the original entrance to the cave. The entrance had been completely blocked by sediment (沉积物), making it difficult to find until now.
While excavating the area, scientists also found Ice Age stone tools and animal bones, Tafelmaier said.Excavations at the site will continue next year.
New discoveries from the Ice Age are being made all the time.In July, the missing part of a famous Ice Age figurine (小雕像) was found in the Hohle Fels cave in Schelklingen, Germany.Scientists also found a piece of a figurine made 35,000 years ago.On closer examination, they realized it was part of a famous ornament (装饰品) that was recovered in 1999.The caves hold many valuable things, including early forms of prehistoric art such as figurines and musical instruments.
32.What did Tafelmaier’s team find out about the cave?( )
A.Its actual size. B.Its possible users.

In Hyderabad, the second largest city of Sindh, there lived a boy who went by the name of Hamza. He was the second of four siblings (兄弟姐妹) and a student in grade eight. He was not good at a few subjects, namely biology, mathematics and physics, though Hamza was pretty good at all the other subjects that were put on his plate that year.Hamza tried very hard to do well in the three subjects, but every time he tried, he failed to achieve that goal.
In his family, there were many people who had a background in biology and were doing very well in their careers.Hamza’s parents decided that all their children should study biology. The boy did not go against his parents’ decision because he was an obedient (顺从的) child who believed that the decision one’s parents made for their children was always right.
Whenever Hamza got his results or weekly assessments (评价), his parents would scold him for not getting good marks in the three subjects he was weak in.His parents would often be called to the school so that Hamza’s educational problems could be discussed. That too never resulted in much use as his teachers would force their views on him, instead of listening to him.The boy became more and more unhappy as the days passed.
He knew that if he dropped biology, he would be able to focus on mathematics and physics in a much better way.A lot of effort was required to achieve success in the two subjects, but the fear of not being able to score well in biology made Hamza feel tired and weak.Deep inside, the boy knew what he really wanted, but he never had the courage to speak up for it.He enjoyed computer-related activities. He had friends in school who studied computer studies and Hamza always listened carefully whenever his friends talked about things related to computers. He knew he should be studying computer studies instead of biology.

M:Good evening, everybody. I’m George. I’m so glad that for today’s programme, we have J.K. Rowling to share with us how she became a famous writer. Let’s welcome her.
W:Hi, everybody. I’m J.K. Rowling. I’m so glad to be here. Actually, I began writing stories at the age of six and always daydreamed of becoming a writer. In 1990, when I was stuck for four hours on a train, I dreamt of a boy called “Harry Potter”. Before I started to write about Harry Potter, my husband left me and our three-month-old daughter. So I decided to start writing novels to have a new life and wrote my first Harry Potter novel. I sent my novel to a lot of publishing houses. They doubted my writing skills and rejected me. This went on until the year 1996, when the Bloomsbury publishing house agreed to help me. In 1997, Harry Potter was published, and the character soon became one of children’s most favorite characters. We had to print more copies several times. today’s programme, we have J. K. Rowling to share with us how she
became a famous writer. Let’s welcome her.
W:Hi, everybody. I’m J. K. Rowling. I’m so glad to be here.
Actually, I began writing stories at the age of six and always daydreamed
of becoming a writer. In 1990, when I was stuck for four hours on a
train, I dreamt of a boy called “Harry Potter”. Before I started to write
about Harry Potter, my husband left me and our three-month-old
daughter. So I decided to start writing novels to have a new life and wrote
my first Harry Potter novel. I sent my novel to a lot of publishing houses.
They doubted my writing skills and rejected me. This went on until the
year 1996, when the Bloomsbury publishing house agreed to help me.
In 1997, Harry Potter was published, and the character soon became
one of children’s most favorite characters. We had to print more copies
several times. In 1998, in the month of February, my very first novel
was awarded the British Book Award for “Children’s Book of the
Year”.

Ever since he was a young boy growing up in Rosario, Argentina,
Lionel Messi always dreamed of becoming a World Cup champion. Now,
he has achieved this.

FIFA World Cup in Qatar by winning 4-2 in penalties (点球大战)
following a 3-3 tie after extra time.Among the seven goals, Messi scored
three times.
This victory has helped Argentina win another World Cup after their
last win in 1986.Meanwhile, to some extent, it also ended the shadow
of Argentina soccer legend Diego Maradona over Messi.
For a long time, Messi has been compared with Maradona. With
excellent skills and great accomplishments, these two players are both
considered the greatest players in their era.Maradona succeeded in helping

before.
Messi has won many honors, as a seven-time Ballon d’Or
winner, a ten-time La Liga champion and a four-time UEFA Champions
League winner. While he led the Argentina team to take part in World Cup
four times before, his team’s best result was just runner-up, namely

glory in the football world, and adversity (逆境) still exists

For people suffering from depression (抑郁), there’s an all-
natural treatment they should use — getting more exercise. It could help
fight depression, even if people have a genetic risk, new research
shows.
For the study, researchers collected information from nearly 8,000
people and found those with related genes were more likely to have
depression over the next two years after examining them. But that was less
likely for people who were more active at the study’s start, even if they
had a family history of depression.Higher levels of physical activity
helped protect even those with the highest genetic risk of depression.
Both high-intensity (高强度) exercise and low-intensity activities
were associated with a reduced risk of depression.Adding four hours of
exercise a week could lower the risk of a new episode (一段时期) of
depression by 17%, according to the study.“Our findings strongly
suggest that, when it comes to depression, being physically active has
the potential to remove the added risk of future episodes in individuals who
are genetically risky,” said lead author Karmel Choi.“On average,
about 35 additional minutes of physical activity each day may help people
to reduce their risk and protect against future depression episodes.”
Depression is a common mental illness globally, with more than 264
million people affected.“Depression is so ubiquitous, and that
underlines the need for effective approaches that can impact as many
people as possible,” Choi said. And mental health and primary care
providers can use the findings to advise patients that there’s something
meaningful they can do to lower their risk of depression.

During excavations (发掘) in the town of Engen, in the district
of Konstanz, Germany, a team led by Dr Yvonne Tafelmaier of the
University of Tübingen, continued research into a cave that was used
during the Magdalenian period, around 16,000 to 14,000 years
ago.Although the cave was already known to scientists, they had not
discovered the original entrance until now.
The last people to enter the original entrance of the cave would have
been Ice Age hunter-gatherers (游猎采集部族成员), according to the
find.“Such a find offers the opportunity to answer important questions
about the behavior of late Ice Age hunter-gatherers with modern
methods,” Tafelmaier said.
A small part of the cave was found by scientists in 1978, when
researchers made a hole in its top, allowing them to discover when it was
in use.The cave would probably have been a place where Ice Age hunter-
gatherers lived, they found. The hole in the cave was closed and further
exploration was left for future scientists.New excavations began in 2021
and during six weeks of work, scientists gathered more information but
the original cave entrance remained undiscovered.
In April of this year, however, Tafelmaier’s team began exploring
the cave.Using imaging methods, they managed to locate a 65-foot hole
and on 4 July, they finally discovered the original entrance to the
cave. The entrance had been completely blocked by sediment (沉积
物), making it difficult to find until now.
While excavating the area, scientists also found Ice Age stone tools
and animal bones, Tafelmaier said.Excavations at the site will continue
next year.
New discoveries from the Ice Age are being made all the time.In
July, the missing part of a famous Ice Age figurine (小雕像) was
found in the Hohle Fels cave in Schelklingen, Germany.Scientists also
found a piece of a figurine made 35,000 years ago.On closer
examination, they realized it was part of a famous ornament (装饰品)
that was recovered in 1999.The caves hold many valuable things,
including early forms of prehistoric art such as figurines and musical
instruments.

弟姐妹) and a student in grade eight. He was not good at a few
subjects, namely biology, mathematics and physics, though Hamza
was pretty good at all the other subjects that were put on his plate that
year.Hamza tried very hard to do well in the three subjects, but every
time he tried, he failed to achieve that goal.
In his family, there were many people who had a background in
biology and were doing very well in their careers.Hamza’s parents
decided that all their children should study biology. The boy did not go
against his parents’ decision because he was an obedient (顺从的)
child who believed that the decision one’s parents made for their children
was always right.
Whenever Hamza got his results or weekly assessments (评价),
his parents would scold him for not getting good marks in the three
subjects he was weak in.His parents would often be called to the school so
that Hamza’s educational problems could be discussed. That too never
resulted in much use as his teachers would force their views on him,
instead of listening to him.The boy became more and more unhappy as the
days passed.
He knew that if he dropped biology, he would be able to focus on
mathematics and physics in a much better way.A lot of effort was required
to achieve success in the two subjects, but the fear of not being able to
score well in biology made Hamza feel tired and weak.Deep inside, the
boy knew what he really wanted, but he never had the courage to speak
up for it.He enjoyed computer-related activities. He had friends in school

whenever his friends talked about things related to computers. He knew he
should be studying computer studies instead of biology.

Hamza’s major from biology to computer studies. The boy’s face lit up
with happiness as he heard his parents’ agreement.Hamza told his family
that they would be hearing of great results from his side within a month.

time. Not only did he score well in his weekly computer studies tests, but
he was also able to focus well on mathematics and physics. He gradually
