结构分析:此句是简单句。find为谓语动词,me为宾语,sitting为宾语补足语。

“find+宾语+宾补”结构的常见类型:
①find+宾语+名词/介词短语/副词/形容词
②find+宾语+to be

④find+宾语+done(表被动和完成)

动词不定式
动词不定式是非谓语动词的一种,它没有人称和数的变化。动词不定式具有名词、形容词和副词的特征,在句中可以作主语、表语、宾语、定语、状语、宾语补足语等,但不能作谓语。
1 基本结构:to+动词原形,有时不定式符号to可以省略。 2 否定形式:not to+动词原形。 3 不定式有时态和语态变化,一般式为to do,其被动式为to be done;进行式为to be doing;完成式为to have done,其被动式为to have been done。
1.作主语
(1)动词不定式作主语时,表示具体的行为或将来的行为。谓语动词用单数。
As the saying goes,“To see is to believe.”
正如谚语所说:“眼见为实。”
To love and to be loved is the greatest happiness one can seek.
爱与被爱是一个人所能寻求的最大幸福。
(2)为了避免头重脚轻,常用it放在句首作形式主语,将不定式置于句末。
It took me half an hour to work out the difficult math problem.
我花了半个小时才解出这道数学难题。
温馨提示
(1)若要说明不定式表示的动作的发出者,要用for或of引出逻辑主语,构成“for/of+名词(或代词宾格)+不定式”形式,这一结构被称为不定式的复合结构。
(2)在“It is/was+adj.+不定式复合结构”句型中,当形容词是说明逻辑主语的性质、品质时,要由of引出逻辑主语,不能用for;这类形容词主要有clever,friendly,careless,foolish,kind,nice,polite,silly,stupid,wise等。若形容词是描述做的事情的特点时,需由for引出逻辑主语。这类形容词有important,difficult,easy,pleasant,impossible,challenging等。
It is friendly of Mr Smith to make me feel at home in his house.史密斯先生很友好,在他家里他让我有宾至如归的感觉。
It’s challenging for him to complete the task ahead of schedule.
对他来说提前完成这项任务很有挑战性。
2.作表语
不定式用在系动词后作表语,主语的中心词通常是aim,duty,hope,idea,job,plan,problem,wish等,不定式往往说明主语的具体内容,且含有将来意义。
The aim of the activity is to promote people’s awareness of environmental protection.
活动的目的是提高人们的环保意识。
My wish is to go to China in October to experience its rich culture.
我的愿望是在10月份去中国体验一番它丰富的文化。
3.作宾语
(1)直接作及物动词的宾语
常见的接不定式作宾语的动词有agree,choose,decide,demand,expect,fail,hope,learn,plan,prepare,promise,refuse,tend,want,wish,like等。
We tend to do what we are good at and enjoy.
我们倾向于去做我们擅长和喜欢的事情。
I expect to update my knowledge and get ahead this term.
这一学期,我期盼着更新知识,取得进步。
(2)常用句型:“主语+v.+it+adj./n.+to do sth”。其中,it为形式宾语,to do sth为真正的宾语。能用于这一句型的动词有believe,consider,feel,find,make,suppose,think等。
Actually,I think it necessary for all the countries in the world to work together to build a peaceful world.
实际上,我认为世界各国很有必要团结起来,共同创造一个和平的世界。
(3)动词不定式用在介词but,other than后时,如果介词前有行为动词do 的某种形式,那么介词后的不定式不带to,反之就要带to。
We could do nothing but/other than wait.
除了等待我们别无他法。
They had no choice but to take up the challenging task and try to meet their expectations.他们别无选择只能接受这项具有挑战性的任务,尽量去满足他们的期望。
4.作定语
(1)动词不定式作定语,通常位于所修饰的词之后,并且与其所修饰的词在逻辑上有主谓关系或动宾关系。
Attention,please.I have something important to say.(动宾)
请注意,我有重要的事情要说。
He is the only student to finish the challenging task.(主谓)
他是唯一完成这项具有挑战性的任务的学生。

动词不定式作定语,且与被修饰的词有逻辑上的动宾关系时,不定式中的动词应该是及物动词;如果不定式中的动词为不及物动词,则该动词必须与介词连用,使其成为及物的动词短语。
He wanted to find a new house to live in.
他想找一所新房子住。
Because the room was very crowded,I needed a tall bench to stand on.
因为房间里很拥挤,我需要一张高板凳站上去。
(2)当中心词为序数词、最高级、the last、the only等或中心词被这类词修饰时,常用不定式作定语。
John is always the first one to come up with a good idea.约翰总是第一个想出好办法的人。
Lucy is the last to sign up for the online course.
露西是最后一个报名线上课程的人。
(3)当被修饰的词是抽象名词时,常用不定式作定语。常用的名词有ability,effort,chance,promise,way等。
After staying in China for 3 years,Mr Green has the ability to speak Chinese.
在中国待了3年后,格林先生能够说汉语了。
Your way to solve the problem is different from mine.你解决这个问题的方法与我的不同。
5.作状语
不定式作状语多表示目的、原因、结果等。表示原因、结果时一般不放于句首。
(1)表示目的(相当于in order to do)
To/In order to finish the task on time,we work late into the night every day.
为了能按时完成任务,我们每天工作到深夜。
(2)表示原因
不定式作原因状语,常用在某些表示喜、怒、哀、乐等的形容词后,如glad,pleased,sad,worried,excited等。
I was surprised to see that a four-year-old child could sing so well.看到一个4岁的孩子能唱得这么好,我感到很惊讶。
(3)表示结果
不定式作结果状语通常用于以下句型:too...to...,...enough to do sth,...only to do sth。
The Californian ship arrived too late to save more people.
加利福尼亚邮轮太晚到达,没能挽救更多的人。
I walked all the way from home to the library,only to find it closed.
我从家一直步行到图书馆,结果发现它关门了。

不定式短语表示结果且与only连用时,常暗示一种意外的结果。
He hurried to the station,only to find the train had left.
他匆忙赶到车站,却发现火车已经开走了。
Mary hurried to school,only to be told it was Sunday.
玛丽匆忙地赶到学校,结果被告知是星期天。
6.作宾补
(1)不定式常跟在下列动词之后作宾补:ask,advise,encourage,expect,invite,notice,order,teach,tell,warn等。
We should encourage students to take part in some voluntary activities.
我们应该鼓励学生参加一些志愿者活动。
(2)在使役动词 let,have,make后,感官动词see,watch,look at,notice,hear,listen to,feel等后作宾补时,不定式常省略to。
The teacher made some students stay in the classroom after school.
老师让一些学生放学后留在教室里。
Don’t let a child do whatever he/she wishes to.
千万不要让孩子想干什么就干什么。

上述动词变为被动语态时不定式符号to不能省略。

不定式可以和疑问词连用,构成“who/which/what/how/when/...+to do”结构,在句中相当于名词,常作主语、宾语、表语等。
(1)When to set off for Beijing hasn’t been decided.
什么时候动身去北京还没有决定。(作主语)
(2)He told us how to review our lessons effectively.他告诉我们如何有效地复习功课。(作宾语)
(3)The question is how to educate the young generation correctly.
问题是如何正确地教育年轻一代。(作表语)

While screen time is known to affect sleep,new research suggests that interactive(互动的) activities,such as texting friends or playing video games,put off and reduce the time spent asleep to a greater degree than passive(被动的) screen time like watching television,especially for teens.
The team studied the daytime screen-based activities of 475 teenagers using daily surveys.They asked the teens how many hours they had spent that day communicating with friends through social media and how many hours they spent playing video games,surfing the Internet and watching television or videos.Finally,the researchers asked if they had joined in any of these activities in the hour before bed.
Next,the team measured their sleep time for one week.The researchers found that the teens spent an average of two hours per day communicating with friends via social media,about 1.3 hours playing video games,less than an hour surfing the Internet and about 1.7 hours watching television or videos.For every hour throughout the day that they used screens to communicate with friends,they fell asleep about 11 minutes later averagely.For every hour to play video games,they fell asleep about 9 minutes later.Those who talked,texted or played games in the hour before bed lost the most sleep:about 30 minutes later.
Interestingly,David,lead author of the study,said the team found no obvious relations between passive screen-based activities and sleep.“It could be that passive activities are less mentally exciting than interactive activities,” said Anne,co-author of the study.“It’s a tricky situation,” she said.“These screen tools are really important to everyone nowadays,so it’s hard to put a limit on them,but if you’re really looking out for a teenager’s health and well-being,you might consider limiting the more interactive activities,especially in the hour before bed.”

动词不定式是非谓语动词的一种,它没有人称和数的变化。动词不定式具有名词、形容词和副词的特征,在句中可以作主语、表语、宾语、定语、状语、宾语补足语等,但不能作谓语。
语法精讲
(1)基本结构:to+动词原形,有时不定式符号to可以省略。
(2)否定形式:not to+动词原形。
(3)不定式有时态和语态变化,一般式为to do,其被动式为to be done;进行式为to be doing;完成式为to have done,其被动式为to have been done。
1.作主语
(1)动词不定式作主语时,表示具体的行为或将来的行为。谓语动词用单数。

(2)在“It is/was+adj.+不定式复合结构”句型中,当形容词是说明逻辑主语的性质、品质时,要由of引出逻辑主语,不能用for;这类形容词主要有clever,friendly,careless,foolish,kind,nice,polite,silly,stupid,wise等。若形容词是描述做的事情的特点时,需由for引出逻辑主语。这类形容词有important,difficult,easy,pleasant,impossible,challenging等。

2.作表语

3.作宾语
(1)直接作及物动词的宾语
常见的接不定式作宾语的动词有agree,choose,decide,demand,expect,fail,hope,learn,plan,prepare,promise,refuse,tend,want,wish,like等。
We tend to do what we are good at and enjoy.
我们倾向于去做我们擅长和喜欢的事情。
I expect to update my knowledge and get ahead this term.
这一学期,我期盼着更新知识,取得进步。
(2)常用句型:“主语+v.+it+adj./n.+to do sth”。其中,it为形式宾语,to do sth为真正的宾语。能用于这一句型的动词有believe,consider,feel,find,make,suppose,think等。

(3)动词不定式用在介词but,other than后时,如果介词前有行为动词do 的某种形式,那么介词后的不定式不带to,反之就要带to。

4.作定语
(1)动词不定式作定语,通常位于所修饰的词之后,并且与其所修饰的词在逻辑上有主谓关系或动宾关系。

动词不定式作定语,且与被修饰的词有逻辑上的动宾关系时,不定式中的动词应该是及物动词;如果不定式中的动词为不及物动词,则该动词必须与介词连用,使其成为及物的动词短语。

5.作状语
不定式作状语多表示目的、原因、结果等。表示原因、结果时一般不放于句首。
(1)表示目的(相当于in order to do)

(2)表示原因
不定式作原因状语,常用在某些表示喜、怒、哀、乐等的形容词后,如glad,pleased,sad,worried,excited等。

(3)表示结果
不定式作结果状语通常用于以下句型:too...to...,...enough to do sth,...only to do sth。

6.作宾补
