What can we learn from the festival
The Tomatina Festival
The Tomatina Festival is one of the most exciting and unique festivals in Spain. It takes place on the last Wednesday of August every year in a small town called Bu ol.
During the festival, thousands of people gather in the town's main square. Trucks carry in over 100 tons of ripe tomatoes. At exactly 11:00 am, the signal is given, and the tomato fight begins! People throw tomatoes at each other for about an hour. The whole square turns into a sea of red. It’s not about winning or losing—just pure fun!
After the fight, fire trucks come to clean the streets. Everyone leaves covered in tomato juice, but with big smiles. The Tomatina Festival isn’t just a tomato fight; it’s a chance for people to let loose, make new friends, and enjoy the joy of being together.
Youth Day
Youth Day, also known as May 4th Movement Day, is a significant festival in China. It falls on May 4th every year, aiming to commemorate the patriotic May 4th Movement in 1919. During this movement, Chinese young people bravely fought for national independence and democracy, showing their strong love for the country.
Today, Youth Day is a time to honor the spirit of young people. Schools and communities often hold various activities. For example, there are special meetings, volunteer work, and speech competitions. These activities encourage young people to study hard, take on responsibilities, and contribute to society. Youth Day reminds Chinese youth to remember history, carry forward the spirit of patriotism, and work hard to build a better future for the country.
The Day of the Dead:
The Day of the Dead is a famous and colorful festival in Mexico. It is celebrated from November 1st to November 2nd each year. Unlike other festivals that mourn the dead, the Day of the Dead is a happy celebration to remember and honor loved ones who have passed away.
During the festival, families create beautiful altars with photos, candles, flowers, and the favorite foods of the deceased. They believe that on these days, the spirits of the dead can return to visit their families. People also wear colorful costumes and paint their faces like "sugar skulls". There are parades, music, and dancing everywhere. The festival teaches people to respect life and death, and reminds them that death is just another part of life's journey. It shows that love and memories can last forever.
The Salmon Festival:
The Salmon Festival in South Africa is a very interesting event. It usually takes place in June every year in KwaZulu-Natal Province. During this festival, thousands of salmons swim along the coastline to migrate. It’s amazing to watch these fish moving together in the sea!
Many tourists and local fishermen come to join the festival. Tourists love taking photos and enjoying the beautiful natural views. Fishermen are excited to catch some salmons. Besides watching the salmons, there are also many fun activities, like seafood markets and local music shows. This festival not only gives people a chance to get close to nature but also helps them experience the local culture. If you love nature and new experiences, don’t miss the Salmon Festival in South Africa!
