Rome can be expensive for travelers, which is why many choose to stay in a hostel (旅社).
Yellow Hostel
If I had to make just one recommendation for where to stay in Rome, it would be Yellow Hostel. It’s one of the best hostels in the city, and for good reason. It’s affordable, and it’s fun without being too noisy. As an added advantage, it’s close to the main train station.
Hostel Alessandro Palace
If you love social hostels, this is the best hostel for you in Rome. Hostel Alessandro Palace is fun. Staff members hold plenty of bar events for guests. There’s also an area on the rooftop for hanging out with other travelers during the summer.
Youth Station Hostel
If you’re looking for a clean and modern hostel, look no further than Youth Station. It offers beautiful furnishings (家具陈设). There are plenty of other benefits, too: it doesn’t charge city tax; it has both air conditioning and a heater for the rooms; it also has free Wi-Fi in every room.
Hotel and Hostel Des Artistes
Hotel and Hostel Des Artistes is located just a 10-minute walk from the central city station and it’s close to all of the city’s main attractions. The staff is friendly and helpful, who will offer you a map of the city when you arrive, and advice if you require some. However, you need to pay 2 euros a day for Wi-Fi.
21.What is the major concern of travelers who choose to stay in a hostel?( )
A.Comfort. B.Safety.
C.Price. D.Location.
22.Which hostel best suits people enjoying an active social life?( )
A.Yellow Hostel. B.Hostel Alessandro Palace.
C.Youth Station Hostel. D.Hotel and Hostel Des Artistes.

They say there are three ways to experience the Grand Canyon: on foot, on mules (骡子) or by air. We chose the first. Up early, my husband and I and our three children couldn’t wait to get started. We decided to walk along a lovely path named Bright Angel Trail.
As we set out, I was shocked at how narrow the path was. And I couldn’t help noticing that the other tourists weren’t like us. They had heavy backpacks, water bottles, and hats, but as usual we were dressed. As the sun rose higher, Arizona’s famous heat seemed to roast us. There was no shade and our legs were aching. We decided to go back, with the girl on my back and the boys far behind. By the time we finally got back, our legs were like jelly.
The next day, after we’d had along rest and a good breakfast, we were ready for another view of the Canyon — by air. After our last walk, this would be the easiest thing in the world.
We called to each other excitedly as the plane circled around the Canyon. But the smiles on our faces disappeared as the pilot tossed (翻转) the plane around, pretending he was going to hit the ground. I shouted,“STOP, TAKE US BACK!” When we finally arrived back on land, once again our legs were like jelly. We hardly spoke as we drove back.
As I said, there are three ways to view the Grand Canyon. We never tried the mules, but personally I’d suggest a fourth: buy yourself a good magazine like National Geographic. That way, you can see the Canyon, without fear or tiredness.
24.What can we know from the second paragraph?( )
A.They made careful preparations before the trip.
B.The children were more excited than their parents.
C.The heat didn’t prevent them from finishing the walk.
D.Bright Angel Trail was not as lovely as they expected.
25.What does the underlined sentence “our legs were like jelly” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?( )
A.We were tired. B.We were injured.
C.We were relaxed. D.We were energetic.
26.Why did the family hardly speak as they drove back?( )
A.Because the pilot almost hit the ground.
B.Because they got frightened on the plane.
C.Because they arrived back on land later than expected.
D.Because the plane only circled around the Grand Canyon once.
27.What can we infer from the last paragraph?( )
A.A good magazine about the Grand Canyon is more affordable.
B.Visiting the Grand Canyon on mules would be the best option.
C.The trip to the Grand Canyon does not necessarily suit everyone.
D.There can be more exciting ways to view the Grand Canyon in person.
C
Summer is always a busy travel season, but even at peak times like July, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll see lots of hotels with No Vacancy (空房) signs. More and more travelers are choosing instead to stay in vacation rentals: decorated private houses, rooms, or apartments that only you and your party share for the period of your stay. Or you can get adventurous and book a cabin, a tree house, a houseboat, or even a castle.
The idea appeared in 2007, when Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia, the owners of a hotel, realizing that a San Francisco tech meeting would make hotel rooms in the area harder to come by, let travelers sleep on air mattresses (充气床垫) in their apartment for a fee. They called it Air Bed and Breakfast, and the company — now known as Airbnb — is worth almost $100 billion today and has six million listings worldwide.
More space is a major attraction of this accommodation the average hotel room measures just 330 square feet, while the average vacation rental room tops 1,300. And in 20 of the largest US cities, average daily rates are comparable to (or slightly lower than) those of hotels.
If you’re willing to share your own digs while you’re away, Love Home Swap pairs you with like-minded travelers for stays in each other’s homes for a membership fee as low as $11 per month. If you’d like to list your home, check your local zoning laws, as some areas have strict rules on short-term rentals. In parts of Honolulu, a new law taking effect in October will up the minimum stay to 90 days.
28.What can we learn from Paragraph 1?( )
A.Vacation rentals have replaced hotels nowadays.
B.Travelers have more options of where to live now.
C.Hotels have no empty rooms during travel seasons.
D.Instead of staying in rentals, travelers choose private rooms.
29.What inspired Chesky and Gebbia to start vacation rentals?( )
A.The presence of the Airbnb. B.The requirement of travelers.
C.The shortage of hotel rooms. D.The popularity of air mattresses.
30.If you want to use Love Home Swap, you should .( )
A.become its member first B.rent your house for free
C.list your house for at least 90 days D.find partners with the similar ideas
31.What’s the purpose of the passage?( )
A.To list the various rentals for travelers.
B.To urge hotels to take on more vacation rentals.
C.To compare two different ways to spend vacation.
D.To introduce a new trend on vacation accommodation.
D
Do you like travelling to other places, cities and countries? Many people do. Tourism is a huge industry — it’s as large as or larger than the oil, food and car industries. It creates so many jobs that one in every ten people in the world works in tourism.
However, for many people and places, tourism is not a completely positive thing. Some places receive millions of tourists a year, which leads to problems for local people. When tour buses block roads, it’s hard for local people to get to work or school. Often, international companies open up, and small shops and restaurants close down. Another problem is accommodation — in Barcelona and New York, for example, many flats and houses are used as tourist accommodation, so homes for local people have become expensive and hard to find.
Tourism can have an effect on the environment as well. Natural areas are ruined to make space to build hotels and tourist facilities, and building them consumes a lot of energy and resources. Historic buildings are damaged, such as those in Venice by large cruise ships entering the city. These ships also do harm to animal and plant life. More tourism means more crowds, noise, rubbish and pollution.
Some governments have already taken action. In Barcelona and New York, there are now limits on short-term rental accommodation. The number of cruise ships entering Venice is limited now too. Importantly, individual tourists can help by choosing better ways of visiting places. For example, if tourists visit Venice on a cruise ship but they sleep and eat all their meals on the ship, does the local community in Venice really benefit from their visit? If not, it could be better to choose a different form of tourism, one that benefits the city and local people more.
Despite some problems, if we can make tourism more sustainable (可持续的), everyone can benefit from it, and people can continue to enjoy visiting these places in the future.
32.Why is it hard for New Yorkers to buy cheap houses?( )
A.Because tourists buy local flats and houses.
B.Because many houses are needed for travelers.
C.Because the government provides little land to build houses.
D.Because the houses international companies sell are expensive.
33.Why are cruise ships mentioned in Paragraph 3?( )
A.To stress plants and animals die from them.
B.To show tourism wastes energy and resources.
C.To explain why tourism is not environmentally friendly.
D.To suggest the necessity of preventing the development of tourism.
34.What does Paragraph 4 mainly stress about tourism?( )
A.The cruise ship is not a good choice for tourists.
B.Tourism should be developed in a sustainable way.
C.Local community in Venice shows no interest in tourism.
D.Governments have done extremely well in developing tourism.
35.What is the author’s attitude towards tourism?( )
A.Unclear. B.Disapproving.
C.Doubtful. D.Positive.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My mother was the oldest child in a family of four children. At the age of ten, my mother was charged with all the household responsibilities while her mother went to work. At a time when most children focused on themselves and their needs, my mother looked after the other children, cooked, and cleaned. My aunts and uncle remember that while they were growing up my mother was consistent (始终如一的) and strict with them, with a smile on her face and a song in her heart.
After working for a couple of years, my mother married my father and started her own family. Her four children came every two years. In addition to working full-time, she managed to attend each child’s school and sporting events, and keep us all on the straight and narrow.
Having learned about her hard childhood and knowing that my father was really her “fifth and worst” child, I decided that when I completed graduate school I would take my mother on the first of what would become our annual mother-daughter trip. Since I landed a well-paid job, I told her to pick any place she wanted to go and I would make it happen. She had never been more than fifty miles from our home, so she was very excited.
For the first three years, we went to Bermuda, Arizona, and Charleston. However, during my fourth year after graduate school, I opened my own business, and I was very hard up. I didn’t want my mother to know, so I didn’t let on when she said she wanted to go to the Bahamas.
I searched for the least expensive way to make this trip happen and ended up with a “package” that included air tickets, food and hotel stays. Even now, when I think about that trip, I experience some discomfort. The old airplane was very tiny. We had to share the hotel room with local insects.
After a long flight and a terrible bus ride to our hotel, most passengers were tired and disappointed. However, my mother always kept a positive attitude.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
To make matters worse, we had to stand in a long line under the hot sun to get our room key.

When I was complaining about the sudden rain, my mother looked at the swimming pool with a bright light in her eyes.

(Text 2)
M:I thought that you would go to Jim’s wedding yesterday.
W:I was planning to, but my daughter Lucy wasn’t feeling well, so I stayed at home.
(Text 3)
W:Well, I’m calling about the Wildlife Protection Group I belong to. We’re looking for more people to join, especially men. And I thought you might be interested.
M:Oh. You know how much I love wildlife, but this is my last year in the middle school. I’m quite busy with my lessons.
(Text 4)
M:Is Mr Stephen in his room, please? He has called to see me after the dinner.
W:If he is in, his key will be here. Yes, sir. Room 202. He is in his room.Would you like to ring up first, sir?
(Text 5)
M:Why don’t you and Ervin join us for dinner tonight? The five of us haven’t gone out together for a long time.
W:Ervin says it’s always too noisy to enjoy the meal at nightclubs.
M:Shall we go somewhere quiet?
(Text 6)
M:Could you take this down to the accounting office for me, please?
W:Sure, Mr Stone. I was just on my way down to the shipping department which is on the 5th floor, anyway. The accounting office is just one floor above it, so it’s right on the way.
M:Great. Maybe when you get back, I could take you to the Thai restaurant you’re always telling me about.
(Text 7)
W:What did you think of the speech by Professor Green yesterday afternoon?
M:I thought it was long and boring. I left the lecture hall before the speech ended.
W:Where did you go then?
M:I went to the library and borrowed some books and then read some magazines in the reading room. Did you stay in the lecture hall all afternoon?
W:Yes. Another three professors gave speeches besides Mr Green.
M:How about their speeches?
W:I thought all the speeches were interesting and meaningful. I think I learned a lot from them. I really think you shouldn’t have left the lecture hall before the speeches ended.
(Text 8)
M:Hello. Could I speak to Mr Smith’s secretary, please?
W:Yes. It’s Mr Smith’s secretary speaking.
M:Oh, hello, this is Mr Green’s Service in London.
W:What can I do for you?
M:Well, my boss Mr Green is coming out to Tokyo in the first week of December and I want to check whether you know he is coming.
W:I did already know about it. He’s coming for the conference.
M:That’s right, and he would really like to take up Mr Smith’s offer to visit the factory.
W:When would it suit Mr Green? The conference will be running from Tuesday to Thursday.
M:Er, well, either Monday or Friday would be good. Which day do you think would be better for Mr Smith?
W:Er, as far as he’s concerned, Monday will be fine.
M:Oh, that’s great.
(Text 9)
W:Mark is so popular. Everywhere I go, people know him. He must be a native of Chicago.
M:No, he’s been here for only one year. I’ve been in town twice as long as he has, and it seems I only have a handful of friends.
W:That’s amazing. Why is he so popular?
M:Well, it’s probably his personality. He’s funny, of course, but I think people like him because he is always willing to spend time with them and help others.
W:That would explain it. What about you? Why are you having trouble keeping up with Mark?
M:I don’t know, but it’s probably because I’m the opposite of Mark. I’m always serious. My work is busy, too, so I don’t have a chance to meet many people.

M:Well, Monica, I’m sure you’ll enjoy working here. I’m the librarian. We’re open from half past eight in the morning until eight in the evening but you’re not expected to be here all that time. You start working at a quarter to nine and finish at a quarter past five, OK? Now, students aren’t allowed to bring large bags into the library. But staff can bring their bags in and leave them in the office. You have an hour for lunch. But I don’t like staff eating in the library. Of course you can have a cup of coffee there while you’re working. If you bring sandwiches for lunch, there’s a common room downstairs where you can eat them.If you want to buy lunch, I’d recommend the dining room upstairs. There are cafés in the town center but it’s a bit of rush to get there and back in an hour though they’re cheap. OK. Any questions?

第四部分
第一节
Dear John,
Having received your email asking about my Spring Festival holiday plan, I’m more than delighted to share it with you.
To explore the splendid culture of China, I, together with some of my classmates, am planning a trip to Henan Province by high-speed train.Henan, known as “the Central Plains”, is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilization. We’ll visit two major cities in Henan, Luoyang and Kaifeng, both of which served as capital cities of several dynasties, boasting a rich historical heritage and many scenic attractions as well.
What about your arrangements for your vacation?
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节
To make matters worse, we had to stand in a long line under the hot sun to get our room key. Since there was no place to store our bags, we carried our things along with us in the line snaking towards the front desk. Just when I thought things could not get worse, the late afternoon rains common to the Bahamas blew in. We all got wet and almost lost our enjoyment in travelling. Finally, I was at the end of my patience.
When I was complaining about the sudden rain, my mother looked at the swimming pool with a bright light in her eyes. With a quick kiss on my face, my mother walked over to the swimming pool, took off her glasses, and jumped in fully clothed, shoes and all, shouting “Yahoo!” “This is a great way to cool down!” I thought to myself. I followed my mother into the swimming pool, but I was smart enough to take off my shoes before I ran over to the pool and jumped in next to her. Several other people joined us in the pool.

(Text 2)
M:I thought that you would go to Jim’s wedding yesterday.
W:I was planning to, but my daughter Lucy wasn’t feeling well, so I
stayed at home.
(Text 3)
W:Well, I’m calling about the Wildlife Protection Group I belong to.
We’re looking for more people to join, especially men. And I thought
you might be interested.
M:Oh. You know how much I love wildlife, but this is my last year in
the middle school. I’m quite busy with my lessons.
(Text 4)
M:Is Mr Stephen in his room, please? He has called to see me after

(Text 5)
M:Why don’t you and Ervin join us for dinner tonight? The five of us
haven’t gone out together for a long time.
W:Ervin says it’s always too noisy to enjoy the meal at nightclubs.
M:Shall we go somewhere quiet?
(Text 6)
M:Could you take this down to the accounting office for me, please?
W:Sure, Mr Stone. I was just on my way down to the shipping
department which is on the 5th floor, anyway. The accounting office is
just one floor above it, so it’s right on the way.
M:Great. Maybe when you get back, I could take you to the Thai
restaurant you’re always telling me about.
(Text 7)
W:What did you think of the speech by Professor Green yesterday
afternoon?
M:I thought it was long and boring. I left the lecture hall before the
speech ended.
W:Where did you go then?
M:I went to the library and borrowed some books and then read some
magazines in the reading room. Did you stay in the lecture hall all
afternoon?
W:Yes. Another three professors gave speeches besides Mr Green.
M:How about their speeches?
W:I thought all the speeches were interesting and meaningful. I think I
learned a lot from them. I really think you shouldn’t have left the lecture
hall before the speeches ended.
(Text 8)
M:Hello. Could I speak to Mr Smith’s secretary, please?
W:Yes. It’s Mr Smith’s secretary speaking.
M:Oh, hello, this is Mr Green’s Service in London.

Rome can be expensive for travelers, which is why many choose to
stay in a hostel (旅社).
Yellow Hostel
If I had to make just one recommendation for where to stay in
Rome, it would be Yellow Hostel. It’s one of the best hostels in the
city, and for good reason. It’s affordable, and it’s fun without being
too noisy. As an added advantage, it’s close to the main train station.
Hostel Alessandro Palace
If you love social hostels, this is the best hostel for you in Rome.
Hostel Alessandro Palace is fun. Staff members hold plenty of bar events
for guests. There’s also an area on the rooftop for hanging out with other
travelers during the summer.
Youth Station Hostel
If you’re looking for a clean and modern hostel, look no further
than Youth Station. It offers beautiful furnishings (家具陈设). There
are plenty of other benefits, too: it doesn’t charge city tax; it has
both air conditioning and a heater for the rooms; it also has free Wi-Fi in
every room.
Hotel and Hostel Des Artistes
Hotel and Hostel Des Artistes is located just a 10-minute walk from
the central city station and it’s close to all of the city’s main attractions.
The staff is friendly and helpful, who will offer you a map of the city
when you arrive, and advice if you require some. However, you need
to pay 2 euros a day for Wi-Fi.

They say there are three ways to experience the Grand Canyon: on
foot, on mules (骡子) or by air. We chose the first. Up early, my
husband and I and our three children couldn’t wait to get started. We
decided to walk along a lovely path named Bright Angel Trail.
As we set out, I was shocked at how narrow the path was. And I
couldn’t help noticing that the other tourists weren’t like us. They had
heavy backpacks, water bottles, and hats, but as usual we were
dressed. As the sun rose higher, Arizona’s famous heat seemed to roast
us. There was no shade and our legs were aching. We decided to go
back, with the girl on my back and the boys far behind. By the time we
finally got back, our legs were like jelly.
The next day, after we’d had along rest and a good breakfast, we
were ready for another view of the Canyon — by air. After our last walk,
this would be the easiest thing in the world.
We called to each other excitedly as the plane circled around the
Canyon. But the smiles on our faces disappeared as the pilot tossed (翻
转) the plane around, pretending he was going to hit the ground. I
shouted,“STOP, TAKE US BACK!” When we finally arrived back
on land, once again our legs were like jelly. We hardly spoke as we
drove back.
As I said, there are three ways to view the Grand Canyon. We never
tried the mules, but personally I’d suggest a fourth: buy yourself a
good magazine like National Geographic. That way, you can see the
Canyon, without fear or tiredness.

Summer is always a busy travel season, but even at peak times like
July, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll see lots of hotels with No
Vacancy (空房) signs. More and more travelers are choosing instead to
stay in vacation rentals: decorated private houses, rooms, or
apartments that only you and your party share for the period of your stay.
Or you can get adventurous and book a cabin, a tree house, a
houseboat, or even a castle.
The idea appeared in 2007, when Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia,
the owners of a hotel, realizing that a San Francisco tech meeting would
make hotel rooms in the area harder to come by, let travelers sleep on air
mattresses (充气床垫) in their apartment for a fee. They called it Air
Bed and Breakfast, and the company — now known as Airbnb — is
worth almost $100 billion today and has six million listings worldwide.
More space is a major attraction of this accommodation the average
hotel room measures just 330 square feet, while the average vacation
rental room tops 1,300. And in 20 of the largest US cities, average
daily rates are comparable to (or slightly lower than) those of hotels.
If you’re willing to share your own digs while you’re away,
Love Home Swap pairs you with like-minded travelers for stays in each
other’s homes for a membership fee as low as $11 per month. If you’d
like to list your home, check your local zoning laws, as some areas
have strict rules on short-term rentals. In parts of Honolulu, a new law
taking effect in October will up the minimum stay to 90 days.

Do you like travelling to other places, cities and countries? Many
people do. Tourism is a huge industry — it’s as large as or larger than the
oil, food and car industries. It creates so many jobs that one in every ten
people in the world works in tourism.
However, for many people and places, tourism is not a completely
positive thing. Some places receive millions of tourists a year, which
leads to problems for local people. When tour buses block roads, it’s
hard for local people to get to work or school. Often, international
companies open up, and small shops and restaurants close down.
Another problem is accommodation — in Barcelona and New York, for
example, many flats and houses are used as tourist accommodation, so
homes for local people have become expensive and hard to find.
Tourism can have an effect on the environment as well. Natural areas
are ruined to make space to build hotels and tourist facilities, and
building them consumes a lot of energy and resources. Historic buildings
are damaged, such as those in Venice by large cruise ships entering the
city. These ships also do harm to animal and plant life. More tourism
means more crowds, noise, rubbish and pollution.
Some governments have already taken action. In Barcelona and New
York, there are now limits on short-term rental accommodation. The
number of cruise ships entering Venice is limited now too. Importantly,
individual tourists can help by choosing better ways of visiting places. For
example, if tourists visit Venice on a cruise ship but they sleep and eat all
their meals on the ship, does the local community in Venice really benefit
from their visit? If not, it could be better to choose a different form of
tourism, one that benefits the city and local people more.
Despite some problems, if we can make tourism more sustainable
(可持续的), everyone can benefit from it, and people can continue
to enjoy visiting these places in the future.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构
成一篇完整的短文。
My mother was the oldest child in a family of four children. At the
age of ten, my mother was charged with all the household responsibilities
while her mother went to work. At a time when most children focused on
themselves and their needs, my mother looked after the other children,
cooked, and cleaned. My aunts and uncle remember that while they were
growing up my mother was consistent (始终如一的) and strict with
them, with a smile on her face and a song in her heart.
After working for a couple of years, my mother married my father
and started her own family. Her four children came every two years. In
addition to working full-time, she managed to attend each child’s
school and sporting events, and keep us all on the straight and narrow.
Having learned about her hard childhood and knowing that my father
was really her “fifth and worst” child, I decided that when I completed
graduate school I would take my mother on the first of what would become
our annual mother-daughter trip. Since I landed a well-paid job, I told
her to pick any place she wanted to go and I would make it happen. She
had never been more than fifty miles from our home, so she was very
excited.
For the first three years, we went to Bermuda, Arizona, and
Charleston. However, during my fourth year after graduate school, I
opened my own business, and I was very hard up. I didn’t want my
mother to know, so I didn’t let on when she said she wanted to go to the
Bahamas.
I searched for the least expensive way to make this trip happen and
ended up with a “package” that included air tickets, food and hotel
stays. Even now, when I think about that trip, I experience some
discomfort. The old airplane was very tiny. We had to share the hotel
room with local insects.
After a long flight and a terrible bus ride to our hotel, most
passengers were tired and disappointed. However, my mother always
kept a positive attitude.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式作答。
To make matters worse, we had to stand in a long line under the
hot sun to get our room
key.

When I was complaining about the sudden rain, my mother
looked at the swimming pool with a bright light in her eyes.
参考范文:
To make matters worse, we had to stand in a long line under the hot
sun to get our room key. Since there was no place to store our bags, we
carried our things along with us in the line snaking towards the front desk.
Just when I thought things could not get worse, the late afternoon rains
common to the Bahamas blew in. We all got wet and almost lost our
enjoyment in travelling. Finally, I was at the end of my patience.
When I was complaining about the sudden rain, my mother looked
at the swimming pool with a bright light in her eyes. With a quick kiss on
my face, my mother walked over to the swimming pool, took off her
glasses, and jumped in fully clothed, shoes and all, shouting
“Yahoo!” “This is a great way to cool down!” I thought to myself.
I followed my mother into the swimming pool, but I was smart enough to
take off my shoes before I ran over to the pool and jumped in next to her.
Several other people joined us in the pool.
