■写作项目——Writing an Informal Email 
本单元的写作任务是写一封非正式的电子邮件。它是一种相对轻松、自然和随意的电子邮件形式,通常用于与朋友、家人、同事等关系较为密切的人进行日常交流。一般使用较为简单、通俗的词汇和句子结构,语气比较轻松友好。通常不需要严格的格式,内容简洁明了,重点突出。通过这种写作形式,旨在使学生在实际生活中正确书写个人邮件,达到交际目的。

一、学文体架构
阅读课文,总结该文体的篇章结构如下:

非正式邮件的开头引入可先表达思念之情,询问近况等,也可直接开门见山引入话题,指出写信的目的。主体段落按照时间顺序或逻辑顺序展开,介绍自己的生活或学。结尾总结全文,可以用简短的话概括主题,或者给读者留下深刻的思考。如课文开头使用问候语“How's your life in Canada?”询问朋友近况,随后“I hope ...”点明写信的目的。第二段按照“学校整体概况(概括)→同学(具体1)→学习生活(具体2)→课外活动(具体3)”的顺序依次进行介绍。最后用简短的话语表明自己要去做的学习任务,进而结束文章,并表达祝愿。
三、学语言风格
非正式邮件一般为熟人之间的交流,语言一般轻松随意,常使用系动词、助动词和情态动词的缩略形式,运用省略句或省略虚词等。如本文中使用了缩略形式,如How's ...、 I'm ...、 She's ...、 I've ...等;以及一些非正式语言的表达,如Hi、 Guess what、 Right?、 You know、 Well、 All the best!等。
四、学亮点表达
