My View on Food Security
Over the past couple of years, several cases of the food scandal have been disclosed on various media. The problem of food security has become a hot button across society. The prevalence of food insecurity has greatly impacted public health, which the government could not afford to ignore.
There are a couple of driving forces, I would argue, behind this undesirable tide. First, in the course of the rapid economic evolution, we ignore moral education, giving rise to the rising rate of the problem. More importantly, the lack of adequate regulation and punishment on those illegal producers enforces the trend.
As Confucius instructed, it is better late than never. Prompt and strict measures should be taken to turn back this evil trend. The government should launch a massive moral campaign to educate all citizens and draw up tougher laws to crack down on those irresponsible corporations and prohibit them from entering the food industry again.I am firmly convinced that through our combined efforts we are bound to enjoy more risk-free foods in the future

(The more haste,the less speed.)。
There is a well-known saying which goes that “ The more haste ,the less speed .”[ Evidently, this hold true for a lot of situations in life in which anxiety and thoughtlessness may disrupt a supposedly good prospect.]
[For example, when you take an English test which requires you to complete questions based on an article,it would be advisable for you to read slowly and carefully until you grasp a clear picture of the author's main ideas and implications, ready to answer the questions. On the contrary, if you worry about time running out and thus push yourself to read faster than you can handle, chances are that you might go back and re-read for important information.]
[This saying, which has been handed down from generation to generation, sharply points out how crucial it is to approach life situations calmly.] A level and balanced mindset helps one to maximize one's performance even against the most urgent and difficult circumstances. [Anxiety drives people to irrationality.][Metaphorically speaking, if you rush, you might just crash, and ultimately end up slower than ready walkers, simply because they have better judgment of their capacities than you do.]
Therefore, it is important to avoid haste in life. Eventually, you will save time by not stumbling and falling all the way.
1. Evidently, this hold true for a lot of situations in life in which anxiety and thoughtlessness may disrupt a supposedly good prospect.
2. On the contrary, if you worry about time running out and thus push yourself to read faster than you can handle, chances are that you might go back and re-read for important information.
chances are that 的意思为:很可能,替代常用的 it is likely that..
3. This saying, which has been handed down from generation to generation, sharply points out how crucial it is to approach life situations calmly.
4. Metaphorically speaking, if you rush, you might just crash, and ultimately end up slower than ready walkers, simply because they have better judgment of their capacities than you do.

A. Gratitude can also make us feel good physically. B. Therefore, it's easy to tell that gratitude is advantageous to us. C. It is the feeling of being grateful and wanting to express our thanks. D. It can help promote stronger relationships with family, friends or even colleagues. E. One reason for this, is that gratitude stops us from reflecting on negative emotions. F. It is a deeper appreciation for someone or something that makes us feel a positive emotion.
Why gratitude is good for you
Gratitude is more than just saying “thank you” to someone who has helped us or given us a gift. 1 And this positive emotion can be good for our health - our emotional and physical health,as well as the health of our relationships.
Let's start by looking at the emotional or mental health benefits of expressing gratitude. There have been many studies, as described in a 2018 paper from the Greater Good Science Center titled“The Science of Gratitude", showing that writing a gratitude letter to another person or writing in a gratitude journal, if done regularly, improves mental health. 2 But even if we don't share our writing with anyone, like in a journal, the act of completing the exercise alone makes us happier and more satisfied with life. And this gets better with time. As we are essentially training our brain to be more in tune with noticing the positive, after several weeks or months, this becomes more intuitive. And so, the more we express gratitude, the more positive we feel.
3 There are studies linking a gratitude practice to better sleep quality, better eating habits, and reduced infection in people who have had heart problems. So gratitude is clearly good for us.but is it also good for the people in our lives
The simple answer is “'yes”. When shared- spoken or written - gratitude is about feeling valued and helping others feel valued too. 4 And that's on top of all the other ways gratitude is clearly good for us. Maybe we should all stop counting sheep or counting calories and start counting our blessings instead

Australia and the rest of Oceania are the last regions free of bird flu that has caused mass mortality in birds across the world and a massive outbreak in dairy cattle in the United States. Why animals in the southern region have so far escaped infection is a mystery, but scientists have several theories.
For one, Australia is geographically isolated and doesn't import live poultry, says Frank Wong, a virologist at the Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness. Many of the countries’ birds are endemic (地方性的)and do not migrate to regions where the virus is spreading.
But the virus's arrival in Australia is “a matter of when, not if’, says Michelle Wille at the University of Melboume, Australia. She thinks that long-distance migratory shorebirds and seabirds that come from Siberia and Alaska through southeast Asia to Australia are most likely to carry the virus into the country.
Another possible route for the virus is through ducks. Scientists think migrating ducks and geese in other parts of the world can spread the disease without dying from it. That's because ducks have a biological sensor, known as RIG-l, that detects an invading flu virus and triggers an immune response that usually fights it oft. Kirsty Short says ducks might have evolved such defences in Asia from repeated infections with many weaker forms of the virus, giving them pre-existing immunity. Although they don't get sick from HN1, they can still pass it on, and ducks gather in lakes and ponds with other birds, increasing the chances of disease spread.
Oceania has isolated ecosystems. This isolation is partly explained by a biogeographical division called the Wallace Line. Many animal species tend to stay on one side of the line or the other, and because of this isolation, the species on each side are distinct.
The sharp division might also mean that the virus is not adapted to animals east of the Wallace Line, says Wong."Bird flu viruses are particularly well-adapted to certain species," he says. Birds in Australia could have a genetic make-up that bypasses the usual infection route for the virus, but no one has yet tested this assumption.
Although many duck species are short-distance migratory birds and tend not to cross the Wallace Line, some species.including Pacific black duck and spotted whistling duck-do, and Wille thinks they could introduce H5N1 to the region.
If the virus is detected, government vets will immediately move in to kill the affected population, which happened when H7N3 and H7N9 strains of the flu were detected in Victoria in May.
Short says that, when it happens, the impact on Australia's birds, mammals and ecosystems is unknown, but many species could probably be affected. “It's a big research gap.” she says.
1.Which viewpoint does Michelle Wille most agree with
A. The virus is unlikely to spread to Australia soon.
B. It is ducks that will bring the virus into Australia.
C.Migration patterns will keep Australia safe from infection.
D. The arrival of the virus in Australia is highly possible.
2. What is suggested about birds in Australia regarding the virus
A. They have been tested and found resistant.
B. They migrate to areas where the virus spreads.
C.They may have genetic traits that prevent infection.
D. They are more susceptible to infection than other birds.
3.Which of the following statements is correct according to the passage
A. There is a lack of research on the virus impact.
B.Government measures will prevent outbreaks in Australia.
C.Birds in Australia have become immune due to past exposure.
D. The Wallace Line guarantees that the virus will not reach Australia.

Peruvian agriculture: Blue gold
Peru's blueberry harvest is just beginning, and Ivan Jauregui, an agronomist, looks excited. Staff in a newly built packing-plant load the best berries into refrigerated shipping containers, then pack them off to the port of Callao. Mr Jauregui says he once squeezed 35 tonnes of blueberries from a single hectare of land; he is always hoping to beat this record.“Every year we have to grow and improve,” he says.
1 Farmers noticed that their counterparts in Chile were making a lot of money selling the fruit during the off-season in the United States, when prices are high. They sought to do the same and things have worked out better than anyone dared hope. Back in 2013 Peruvians earned about $17m exporting blueberries: by last year receipts had soared to $1.7bn.
2 Historically the fruit has grown well only in places with chilly winters. Peru's blue revolution relies on innovative “low chill” varieties, developed in the United States, which thrive on Peru's coast. The International Blueberry Organisation, an industry group, says that in 2022 the yield of a typical Peruvian blueberry farm was nearly double the global average.
Blueberry farmers have also gained from trends that have boosted all manner of Peruvian produce. 3 Between 2000 and 2023, total annual Peruvian farm exports grew 16-fold to $10.5bn. “it's mind-bending,” said Rafael Zacnich of Comex, Peru's international trade association.
Yet in future growers will also have to avoid a handful of risks. 4 It was not the only country to suffer, but the sticky experience has accelerated efforts to identify and spread varieties that might cope better with climate change. And farmers in lots of other places fancy a slice of Peru's blueberry pie, notes Mr Jauregui. “Colombia, Morocco: everyone is growing blueberries now.”
A. Peru caught blueberry fever a little over a decade ago.
B. It takes other places four years to start turning a profit
C.Last year extreme weather stole a big chunk of Peru's production.
D. The country owes much of its success to novel kinds of blueberry bush
E. These include tax breaks and irrigation megaprojects that have opened up land along Peru's desert coastline.
F. Yet blueberries remain by far the most profitable crop.【

At the dawn of information age, the rising of electronic appliances has given many tech companies an edge in the global market. However, the tide doesn't necessarily raise all boats. Those companies who cannot cater to the majority's needs will be easily knocked out. As far as I'm concerned, two key qualities matter a lot.
First and foremost, innovation is undeniably of prime significance to the success of a tech company. Apparently, innovative skills exclusive to a company may determine its irreplaceable position in the field. It is also a combination of keeping pace with the times and constantly challenging itself, which helps to grab and retain target customers’ attention.
Apart from innovation, it can be the culture that cultivates its customers’ as well as employees’ loyalty. For instance, Huawei boasts its customer-oriented attitudes and diligence in transforming itself from a local business to a global brand. It's no exaggeration to say that only if a tech company occupies a decent culture can it foster its employees’ sense of belonging, sense of responsibility and sense of honor, thus the ultimate improved customer experience.
In the final analysis, a tech company's success may not depend on its products so much as its innovation and distinctive company culture. Therefore, it's high time that companies should at least remember that once involve done is sure to evolve.

The 2lst century has witnessed more remarkable advances in technology and social network than any time before. This, undoubtedly, gives rise to the overwhelming reports on stars’ private life for the mere purpose of seeking laughingstock for our common life. From my point of view, it's not desirable to bring stars’ private life to spotlight with the following reasons.
First and foremost, exposure of others’ privacy goes against what we assume everyone enjoys. Public figures as they are, stars still possess the fundamental right of privacy to keep their potentially inglorious side internalized.Additionally, negative and ill-intentioned reports will take an enormous toll on both their family and career. Once unfavorable comments initiate, needless to say, the disaster caused by Internet will follow in its wake. As a result, all their previous efforts may be wasted overnight and all their hopes will come to nothing.
From what is demonstrated above, we cannot attach too much importance to allowing room for stars' privacy. On no account should we base our delight on others’ reluctance. Keep in mind that it's not what others do and say but your own behavior that really matters.

Dream Lightens Life
Spotted with ups and downs and twists and turns, our life is therefore twinkling with beams of light. Then what is the reason It is dreams that may partly account for it. What light is to a dark night, dream is to our supposedly plain life. As for me, my dream is nothing but to be happy, happy enough to assure myself that every day spent is rewarding and instructive.
I benefit a lot from my dream. Every time I challenge myself to complete a seemingly impossible task and manage to work it out, I will feel uplifted from the bottom of my heart. As a result, I hardly bear the assumption that there is anything I can never deal with, painstaking though it is. Additionally, dream can favorably better my attitudes toward life. For example, sometimes when I am in low spirits, my dream will pop into my mind to convince not to waste time complaining about what has happened but to fully utilize remaining time to adjust myself to what will happen.
However, on the way of fulfilling my dream, there are sure to be some obstacles. The key factors to get rid of them, personally, are perseverance, flexible ability to regulate the mindset and the sharp observation to look for beauty. In the first place, perseverance is the fuel for your procession. Only by persisting in your dream and keeping on striving for it can you render it become a habit and a daily routine to you. Then the capacity of adjustment is also an indispensable part, which will constantly ensure you the sweetness of escaping from sorrow and balancing your state. Being ready to find beauty, above all, is an addition of pleasure in the event of boredom or trouble. Different as our dream are. chances are that everyone has a burning desire to make it come true. Therefore. everyone should spare no pains, no trouble and no expense to scale his or her new heights and step into a brand new prospect.

F. Yet blueberries remain by far the most profitable crop.
