For many years, Croatian American recording artist Nenad Bach toured the world performing with famous musicians like Bono and Pavarotti. Everything came to a stop in 2010, however, when Nenad was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease — a progressive disease that affects a person's movement.
“I love music,” he said. “When I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2010, I didn't know what it was. Five years later, I couldn't even play the guitar.”
One day, a friend of Nenad's asked him to play ping pong with him, and Nenad said yes. The effects were immediate and positive: he woke up the next day filled with a “desire to live”, and his physical and mental issues had improved. Encouraged, he kept playing.
For months he told everyone around him about how ping pong was helping his Parkinson's, but his praise fell on deaf ears. Finally, he took matters into his own hands and started hosting Ping Pong Parkinson's events at the Westchester Table Tennis Center in Pleasantville, New York. Once the events attracted enough attention, he started an organization called Ping Pong Parkinson (PPP) in March 2017.
PPP hopes to encourage people living with Parkinson's to play ping pong for its benefits. In addition to promoting social connectivity, PPP also says that it increases neuroplasticity (神经可塑性) which creates new neural pathways in the brain. Nenad has seen evidence of this with his own eyes many times in the past years. He said that their “facial expression changes from when they arrive until they leave. In addition, some people start walking again.”
Nenad has made spreading the word about the power of ping pong his new life's work! He hopes others will take up the sport and see the same improvements he's enjoyed since the first time he picked up a paddle (乒乓球拍).
4.What happened to Nenad in 2015

B.He learned to perform.
C.He began to play the guitar.
D.His acting journey ended.

Nada Nafisa, Aya Al Zayed and Fatimah Ghazi, all 16, are grade 10 pupils at GEMS Al Khaleej International School. They have created the Eco current energy production unit that harvests “leftover” electrons to harness (利用) electricity from plants.
Nafisa and her friends came up with the idea of Eco current for a school competition. They decided to work on clean energy in a creative way. And then they showed Eco current at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The pupils found research from the Netherlands about producing energy from plants using a run of electrons. This approach towards green energy does not harm the plant. For now, the pupils know that the technology can be used to power phones or smaller devices, using electricity produced from moss (苔藓). With bigger units and more research on the most suitable types of plants, the pupils are sanguine larger machines can be powered — such as washing machines, coffee machines, and even a house.
Fellow (同事的) team member Al Zayed said, “Our school conducts a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) Exhibition Day every year, where we have to show our proposed solution to different problems. We chose the clean energy category and started researching new technologies that can be used for producing green energy. We found that we can produce energy from plants. A group of scientists that started this idea in the Netherlands inspired us and we thought of improving it.”
Another team member Fatimah Ghazi said, “We definitely hope that we will be able to finish our work and build the final prototype (原型) that will work well and produce enough energy to power a house at an affordable cost.”
Ruba Tarabay, Middle School science lead at GEMS Al Khaleej International School, said, “I was so excited to see that they were able to show their project at Expo and the judges were really impressed with this idea of producing clean energy for our future.”

Dr David Hetherington has spent over a decade looking at the feasibility (可行性) of reintroducing the Eurasian lynx (欧洲猞猁) to Scotland. In his new book, The Lynx and Us, Hetherington takes an in depth look at the many issues surrounding this topic.
Hetherington begins the reintroduction discussion by establishing the history and ecology of the lynx, in relation to both human lynx coexistence and geographical variations in distribution. Habitat and range requirements, prey (猎物) preferences and hunting methods are also detailed.
Armed with this background information, the reader is then taken through the_nitty gritty of lynx reintroduction by addressing the potential issues, many of which are based on human wildlife conflict, such as safety and the impact of wild lynx, with much of the information backed up by conservation and research findings associated with the reintroductions of lynx in Europe. Hetherington addresses the significant problem of man made barriers such as roads and rails. There are also considerations regarding prey species that are unused to having natural predators (捕食者) in their midst and the impact on prey populations.
The book looks at the feasibility of lynx reintroduction in the UK. While the reintroduction of lynx to Scotland is shown to be ecologically feasible, how desirable is it Hetherington addresses each of the issues in turn, using the significant knowledge base that now exists regarding lynx ecology and the findings of research into lynx and their reintroductions elsewhere.
For anyone with an interest in lynx rewilding, The Lynx and Us is the “go to” book.
Peter Cairns, director of the rewilding charity SCOTLAND: The Big Picture, the book's publisher, says, “With a growing national discussion about the advantages of restoring missing native species, it's important that we all have access to balanced, factual information on which to base our opinions. That's what this book sets out to provide.”

Pat was the new kid in town. Her dad got a new job, so they had to move from their old home, school, friends and everything in South America to this new city. Now they were total strangers here.
Summer vacation went by while they unpacked, arranged furniture and adjusted to the new city. School was approaching. Pat dreaded it. She was not an outgoing person, so making friends was not easy for this shy and quiet girl. She was filled with fears and worries. She thought, “Would I make friends Would I fit in Would I survive at all in this strange new world?” But there she was, preparing for a new school full of strangers.
Here came her first day in the new school. She arrived at school on time, found her classroom and seated herself. Everything was going well until the first class when Pat's teacher asked her to introduce herself in front of the whole class. She had prepared for it the day before, so she should have done it well. But when she uttered the first sentence, the whole class burst out laughing and began to whisper. It was then that Pat realized she talked with a very strange accent which was different from the locals. Blushing with embarrassment, she finished her introduction quickly and sat there all day long without talking with others.
After school, Pat came home crying, “It's an awful day. All of them are disagreeable. I hate them.” After knowing what had happened in the school, Pat's mother gently hugged her and comforted her, “Hatred is a double edged sword that can hurt both others and yourself. Honey, try to be happy.” In order to cheer her up, Pat's mother suggested, “How about having a party this Saturday We haven't had any party since we arrived here.” Party is such an appealing event for kids like Pat. Right away, she stopped crying and looked at her mother excitedly, “Oh yes! Ice cream! Cake! Red, red balloons!”
“And friends?” Mom asked gently.
Hearing this, Pat sobbed again, “I haven't got any friends here. Nothing but enemies.”
注意:1.续写词数应为150 左右; 2.请按如下格式作答。
“If so, let's have an enemy party. I think it would be interesting,” Pat's mom smiled.

第二节
参考范文:
“If so, let's have an enemy party. I think it would be interesting,” Pat's mom smiled. Pat looked at her mother in confusion, wondering how an enemy party could possibly be fun. But her mother continued, “Invite your classmates, including those who laughed at you today. Maybe they just need a chance to get to know you better and realize that you can be friends. It's an opportunity to break down the walls and build bridges.” Pat pondered over her mother's words, realizing that maybe there was a different way to approach her situation, one that involved understanding and forgiveness.
On Saturday, it was sunny, and all of Pat's classmates came to the party. The backyard was adorned with colorful decorations, and the air was filled with laughter and excitement. As the day progressed, Pat observed her classmates interacting with one another, slowly realizing that they were not as disagreeable as she had initially thought. Conversations sparked, smiles were exchanged, and barriers began to crumble. Pat's mom's idea of an “enemy party” turned out to be a turning point, where enemies became acquaintances, acquaintances turned into friends, and the seeds of understanding were sown.
