Qingming Festival, or Tomb-Sweeping Day, is a traditional festival where Chinese pay respects to their ancestors and the dead. People in different regions of the country consume different foods on the day according to local customs. From green rice balls and omelets (煎蛋饼) to fried dough twists and pancakes, here are some traditional foods people eat on the special day.
Qingtuan, or green rice balls, are widely consumed in China’s Jiangnan area — the region south of the Yangtze River — around Qingming Festival. The seasonal delicious food is usually made from glutinous rice (糯米) mixed with pounded mugwort — an eatable wild herb thought to prevent toxic insect bites.
In both northern and southern China, it is an age-old tradition to eat sanzi, or fried dough twists, on Tomb-Sweeping Day. However, the sanzi in North and South China are different from each other in terms of size and material. Northern people prefer larger ones made from wheat, while people in the South enjoy smaller ones made from rice.
Thin pancakes are a popular food for people in Xiamen in Southeast China’s Fujian province on Tomb-Sweeping Day. To make it tastier, they usually add dried seaweed, omelet, vegetables and chili sauce to the pancakes.
In Qingdao in East China’s Shandong province, people eat spring onion and omelet on the day. They believe the special combination makes eyes brighter. In ancient times, pupils often sent eggs to their teachers to show respect on the day.
In many places in Southeast China’s Fujian province, people thought eating steamed rice with leaf mustard (芥菜) on Tomb-Sweeping Day could help prevent scabies and other skin diseases for the whole year.
The steamed bun is named after Jie Zitui, a famous hermit of the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476BC). People in Shanxi province have a tradition of eating the bun on Tomb-Sweeping Day. Colorful dough animals and flowers are frequent decorations, while eggs and jujubes (红枣) are added inside to increase sweetness.

I was sixteen years old and I loved music very much. I was eager to buy an album (专辑) by my favourite band. However, the pocket money my parents gave me was just enough to get by. I didn’t have any extra money to buy the album, which made me disappointed.
Luckily, I found that there were many opportunities for part-time work in my neighbourhood. There were so many old people who needed help. So, in order to buy the album I wanted,I decided to find a part-time job to earn money.
I chose the oldest person I knew, Mrs. Hudson, who was over eighty years old, and could not tend her garden any more. She had flowers, a grass lawn, and some tomato plants. I knocked on her door, trying to build up enough courage to ask her for work. Fortunately, she answered that she indeed needed help in her garden.
That was a really hot summer day. My first job was to pull out weeds (除草). I got down on my knees and began to pull them out one by one. The task was tiring and boring, and I soon became really tired. However, thinking of the album I wanted, I gathered all my energy and kept moving. “If only I had a portable electric fan (便携式电风扇),”I said to myself, wiping the sweat from my face. After several hours of hard work, I was paid ten dollars. It was less than I thought, but it was enough for the album.
After getting that ten dollars, I couldn’t wait to go to the supermarket to buy my favourite album. I believed it would be a memorable moment when I was able to buy what I liked through my efforts. On the way to the supermarket, I was singing a song excitedly when I happened to see my mother who was working on the opposite side of the road . Actually, I had never seen how she worked before, I just knew she was a saleswoman.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Paragraph 1:
My mother was handing out leaflet (传单) to passers-by.
Paragraph 2:
I continued making my way to the supermarket.

第三部分:写作(共两节,满分40分)
Possible version:
As far as I know, many of my classmates are addicted to social media platforms, playing games or chatting with friends on their phones, rather than using them as a means of learning knowledge. I think such behaviors are a waste of time. It’s time for them to seriously consider how to use their phones reasonably. I strongly recommend that everyone limit cell phone use to no more than half an hour a day. Moreover, it is wise to play less video games and read less useless information online.
第二节(满分25分)
Possible version:
My mother was handing out leaflets to passers-by. Under the burning sun, her T-shirt was wet with sweat. She would give a leaflet to everyone that passed by, with an eager smile on her face. Some people just walked right past her while some others would refuse by waving their hands. There were also some people who would accept the leaflet politely but throw it into a garbage can right away. Seeing that scene, I couldn't help but feel bad. I never considered my mother’s work to be so hard.
I continued making my way to the supermarket. However, when I found the album I had been longing for, my mother’s sweaty face came to my mind and I hesitated. I gave up buying the album and bought a portable electric fan instead. Then I returned to the place where my mother worked. She was obviously surprised to see me standing in front of her. When I took out the fan, telling her that it was for her, she was moved to tears and then broke into a happy smile. It was when I saw a big smile on her face that I understood the true value of money.
