Imagine Dad and I are watching the Olympic Games in our media room someday in the future. The screen drops down to cover one wall. We give our robot Sylvia our orders for popcorn and juice for dinner. She is only a machine but she looks like a human and helps with the housework.
We are having popcorn for dinner tonight because something is wrong with our oven (烤箱). It is broken and keeps on repeating that it doesn't remember how to cook. Dad thinks the shooting star passing by Earth has caused the problem.
“I did see a shooting star yesterday,” I said. “Maybe that's why I had trouble getting Sylvia started this morning. She turned around and around, hardly stood when she tried to take a step, and almost fell backwards. She finally started moving towards me, but then suddenly turned, and went backwards. I thought she was going to knock into a wall. It was lucky that she got her balance in the end and successfully stood up.”
At last, Sylvia arrives with our popcorn and drinks. I look at the screen and watch the Olympic Games. Sylvia watches it too. Dad gives her coins as a tip. Sylvia thanks him for the coins and starts to leave the room. Then she turns back to where we are sitting. I hear some clicking sounds. The sounds mean that she is searching her memory chips for information. “During the Olympics I should get medals, not coins,” she says.
Dad and I just look at each other. Sylvia doesn't seem to know that robots aren't supposed to think. Then we burst out laughing and award Sylvia a gold medal.

A.Worrying. B.Annoying.
C.Amazing. D.Frightening.
27.What is the most suitable title for the text
A.An extraordinary tip for a robot
B.Our unexpected life in the future
C.The robot—an important helper
D.The function of robots like humans

The imitation (模仿) game, as proposed by mathematician Alan Turing in his 1950 paper “Computing Machinery and Intelligence”, tasks a person and a computer, with answering questions from a third person or judge. The questioner must then tell which is human. This has come to be known as the Turing Test.
Turing proposed that if a machine could successfully imitate a person, then it had “artificial intelligence”. So what is artificial intelligence, and could you tell the difference between a person and AI
AI refers to the creation of intelligent machines that can think and act like human beings. These systems are designed to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as understanding natural language, recognizing images and making decisions.
AI has come a long way in recent years and is now being used in a variety of industries, such as healthcare, finance and transportation. With advances in machine learning and natural language processing, AI is becoming increasingly advanced and is able to perform more difficult tasks with greater accuracy.
As a person, I believe that there is great possibility that AI can greatly improve our lives. However, as with any new technology, there are also concerns about the impact of AI on our society.
So what do you think of AI I asked ChatGPT to “tell me as humanly as possible what AI is”, and the previous three paragraphs are its answer. You are the judge, and I am the human respondent. Did you think my intro was AI What I know is that I am scared of AI.
Programs like ChatGPT use machine learning to create text in response to user input. This means the program learns from existing content to produce new content which can make it hard to tell original work from plagiarized (抄袭的) work.
Concerns of plagiarism and misinformation are increasing as programs like ChatGPT and other AI technologies use existing writing, art and knowledge to produce human like work. This opens the door to numerous debates on the ethics (道德伦理) of AI and the information these programs are learning from. Are these sources accurate Is the machine learning algorithm (算法) committing theft
It is our job—that is, as humans—to keep AI in check and ensure its ethical development and usage. AI might not be ready to put an end to humanity, but it is still reasonable to be careful about its progress.
28.What is the purpose of the Turing Test according to the text
A.To test the intelligence of humans.
B.To judge the performance of AI systems.
C.To explore the possible applications of AI.
D.To determine the threat caused by AI to humans.
29.What are Paragraphs 3-5 mainly about
A.AI's applications.
B.AI's limitations.
C.AI's self description.
D.AI's development.
30.Why is it not clear whether AI's works are original or plagiarized according to the text
A.They are based on existing human works.
B.They are not as good as what humans create.
C.They are mostly writing and artwork.
D.The systems may give false information.
31.What is the author's attitude toward AI's development in the future
A.Negative. B.Positive.
C.Puzzled. D.Cautious.

To provide visitors with a special experience, theme parks are putting more money into Virtual Reality (VR) technology. In fact, the lifestyle team of the website, The Week, attended the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Expo in Orlando. The purpose was to do a study on the implementation (实施) of VR technology on roller coasters. The team studied 23 roller coaster manufacturers (制造商) in Europe and found that eight of those manufacturers had implemented VR technology into at least one of their roller coasters. Based on their study, it appears that VR technology is already an important and growing factor in the future development of theme parks.
The theme park industry at first saw VR technology as a cost-saving means to put new life into attractions. In 2015, companies such as Six Flags began adding VR technology to their roller coasters. It soon became clear, however, that there were many difficulties with implementing VR technology on the rides. Because of the time it took to provide riders with VR headsets (头戴式受话器), wait times and lines began to increase. Moreover, companies had to train employees how to set up the VR systems and make sure that all headsets were clean. This proved not to be cost-saving, so new systems had to be put into place.
Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia, set out to solve these problems by developing a two-part headset for the ride Battle for Eire. The park worked with Falcon's Creative Group to develop this new technology, which allowed guests to be fitted with a headpiece while the guests were waiting in line. This shortened wait times and provided a cleaner environment. Falcon's Creative Group and Busch Gardens used creative thinking to improve an attraction that was built around VR.
According to TEA/AECOM Global Attractions Attendance Report, there were more than 252 million people visit the top 25 theme parks in the world. To keep these numbers, it is important that these and other theme-park companies continue to come up with new ideas to create and introduce great attractions—especially those that make use of VR technology.
32.What did The Week find
A.VR technology may greatly influence the future theme parks.
B.Half of the studied theme parks have used VR technology.
C.Roller coasters were getting less popular than before.
D.Theme parks have not realized the importance of VR technology.
33.What happened after Six Flags used VR technology
A.Visitors thought highly of the improvement.
B.The number of visitors hugely increased.
C.Many unexpected problems appeared.
D.A lot of money was saved.
34.What did Busch Gardens do
A.It creatively developed a headset.
B.It employed more workers.
C.It worked with other companies to build new theme parks.
D.It chose to use its traditional technology again.
35.What did the author advise theme parks to do
A.To develop creative attractions.
B.To give up traditional technology.
C.To work with other theme parks.
D.To build new theme parks.

“A nursing home would be safer, Dad,” Arlyn told her father, Jim.
“No way,” Jim interrupted. His wife passed away just a year before. At 91, he still wanted to remain in the cottage that he and his wife had built.
Jim started experiencing an early sign of Alzheimer's disease. Arlyn found his decline was indeed all-consuming. However, she herself was in her late sixties; her house was a 40-minute drive from the cottage. One day, when she read about a new eldercare service called Care Coach, it fueled her interest. For about $200 a month, a computerized avatar (头像) (controlled remotely by a human caregiver) would watch over a home-bound person 24 hours a day. She signed up immediately.
A week later, a tablet arrived. Following the instructions, Arlyn uploaded dozens of family pictures. Then an animated dog appeared on the screen. She presented the tablet to Jim, pointing to the screen pet, and said excitedly, “Here Dad. You have a new companion.” Jim, doubtful about the dog's service, knew he had to learn how to get along with the dog before Alzheimer's took hold.
Within a week, Jim and his dog, whom he named Pony, settled into a routine. Every 15 minutes or so, Pony would look for Jim calling his name if he was out of view. Sometimes Jim would “pet” to awake the sleeping Pony on screen. Pony reminded Jim which caretaker would be visiting to do the tasks: preparing meals, driving him to a senior center, etc. Pony would read poetry aloud or discuss the news. When Pony praised Jim's sweater, Jim repaid by petting Pony's screen with his finger sending hearts floating up from the dog's head. One evening when Arlyn came to visit her father as usual, she was amazed to find that Pony was holding up a photo of her late mum to her dad between its paws.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
Jim stared at the photo fondly, with tears welling up in his eyes. Seeing the close bond between Pony and her dad, Arlyn felt a relief.

Text 10
Books have always been an important part of people's lives. Libraries were important parts of both universities and town centers, and many of the first successful companies in modern times made their money by selling books. Like newspapers, publishers used to have a lot of power and influence, but nowadays, the companies that control digital information seem to have taken over. In particular, e-books have replaced traditional books for most modern readers, especially in big cities, for whom everything has to be easy to carry and convenient to use. Tech companies like Amazon and Apple sell “e-readers” that can contain thousands of books, and their online stores list millions of titles, far more than any bookstore could ever hold. As more and more people buy computers, smart phones, and tablets, the market for e-books continues to grow. Many traditional book publishers and bookstores have gone out of business. For example, Border's Group used to be one of the largest bookstores in the United States, with more than 600 locations and billions of dollars in sales every year. But after e-books appeared, they started losing money and had to close all their stores.

A.Libraries and printing companies.
B.Universities and bookstores.
C.Newspapers and publishers.
答案:C
19.Why do many city people like e-books
A.They are easier to carry.
B.They are cheaper.
C.They are more interesting.
答案:A
20.What can we learn about Border's Group
A.They were bought by a tech company.
B.They made billions of dollars this year.
C.They used to have more than 600 stores.

To keep these numbers, it is important that these and other theme-park companies continue to come up with new ideas to create and introduce great attractions—especially those that make use of VR technology.

take control of意为“控制”,为固定短语。故填of。
62.答案:an
have an influence on意为“对……有影响”,为固定短语。故填an。
65.答案:will be changing
故填will be changing。

Should We Advocate Artificial Intelligence
Nowadays, with the development of technology, artificial intelligence is becoming more and more popular. It is universally acknowledged that AI plays an important role in our daily lives.
On one hand, I believe that AI such as face recognition makes our lives much more convenient and safer. What's of great importance is that AI like some robots can also do things that are too difficult or dangerous for people to do.
On the other hand, with AI taking the place of people in some industries, it will be more difficult for people to get jobs to make a living. Besides, some emergencies may not be coped with perfectly.
Personally, every coin has two sides. Only when we make good use of it, can it bring us great benefits.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
Jim stared at the photo fondly, with tears welling up in his eyes. Seeing the close bond between Pony and her dad, Arlyn felt a relief.
Jim stared at the photo fondly, with tears welling up in his eyes. Memories flashed through Jim's mind. It had been more than a year since his wife's death and hardly had he mentioned her anymore. That day, though, he gazed at the photo affectionately and declared emotionally, “I still love her.” Sensing Jim's sadness, Pony sent hearts to Jim on the screen and comforted him. Uplifted by Pony's loving remarks, Jim petted Pony's screen with his finger sending hearts floating up from the dog's head again. Pony responded with its tail wagging cheerfully. Arlyn sat in silence, with an illusion of slipping back to the old happy days.
Seeing the close bond between Pony and her dad, Arlyn felt a relief. She was amazed at Pony's heart warming service and her dad's fondness for Pony. Pony was more than just a virtual companion; rather, he had become a member of the family, a loyal friend who had helped them through the tough times. With time going by, Arlyn noticed the improvement in her father's cognitive ability and mood, and he got more engaged in conversations. Arlyn was grateful to Pony. Knowing that Pony was not a substitute for human interaction, she resolved to cherish every moment with her dad, for the presence of loved ones was crucial.

18.What organizations used to have a lot of power according to the speaker
A.Libraries and printing companies.
B.Universities and bookstores.
C.Newspapers and publishers.
19.Why do many city people like e-books
A.They are easier to carry.
B.They are cheaper.
C.They are more interesting.
20.What can we learn about Border's Group
A.They were bought by a tech company.
B.They made billions of dollars this year.
C.They used to have more than 600 stores.

以及第二段“Turing proposed that ... a person and AI?(图灵提出,如果一台机器能够成功地模仿人,那么它就有了‘人工智能’。那么什么是人工智能,你能分辨出人和人工智能之间的区别吗?)”可知,图灵测试的目的是评估人工智能系统的性能。故选B。
29.What are Paragraphs 3-5 mainly about
A.AI's applications.
B.AI's limitations.
C.AI's self description.
D.AI's development.
根据第六段中的“So what do you think of ... its answer.(你怎么看待人工智能?我要求ChatGPT ‘尽可能人性化地告诉我人工智能是什么’,前面三段就是它的答案。)”可知,文章第三到五段为ChatGPT的自述。故选C。

注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
Jim stared at the photo fondly, with tears welling up in his eyes. ﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍
Seeing the close bond between Pony and her dad, Arlyn felt a relief. ﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍﹍
