不定式作定语和结果状语
一、不定式作定语
1.不定式作定语时与所修饰的词之间往往存在动宾关系,如果不定式中的动词是不及物动词,或者不定式所修饰的名词或代词是不定式动作的地点、工具等,不定式后面需有相应的介词。

我有许多信要写。

你有足够的纸来写字吗?
She bought a bookshelf to put her books on.
她买了一个放书的书架。
2.不定式所修饰的名词或代词是不定式动作的承受者,且句子的主语是不定式动作的执行者时,该不定式需用主动形式;若句子的主语不是不定式动作的执行者,需用被动形式。
I am going to the shop because I have something to buy.
我打算去商店,因为我有一些东西要买。
I am going to the shop.Do you have something to be bought
我打算去商店。你有东西要买吗?
3.若名词前有序数词、最高级或no,all,any,only等修饰,后面一般用不定式作定语。
They are always the first to bear hardships,but the last to enjoy comforts.
他们总是吃苦在前,享受在后。

他是做这项工作的最佳人选。
4.被修饰的词是抽象名词时用不定式作定语,常见的抽象名词:ability,chance,idea,fact,excuse,promise,answer,reply,attempt,belief,way,reason,moment,time等。

1.不定式作结果状语时常与only连用。

He is wealthy enough to afford such a big house.
