探究三 限制性定语从句(1)
限制性定语从句:在主从复合句中, 对某一名词、代词或名词短语起修饰、限制作用的从句。被修饰的名词、代词或名词短语称为先行词。
语法点1 关系代词的基本用法
(1)that既可指人,也可指物,在定语从句中作主语、宾语或表语,作宾语或表语时可省略。
①This is the novel that interests me.
这就是让我感兴趣的那本小说。(指物,作主语)
②She is no longer the girl (that) she was in her childhood.
她不再是儿时的那个女孩了。(指人,作表语)
(2)which 指物,在定语从句中作主语、宾语或表语,作宾语或表语时可省略。

(4)whom 指人,在定语从句中作宾语,引导词可省略(whom在介词后时不能省略),也可用who代替。

(1)当先行词为all, everything, nothing, anything, little, much等不定代词或先行词被这些词修饰时。

(2024·辽宁丹东高一上期末)One day my grandfather gave me a gift—a piggy bank. It had an opening through which one could put money in, but the opening was not big enough to reach in and get the money out. The only way to get at the money was to break the piggy bank open. My grandfather explained that was the whole idea: the piggy bank would help save my money so that, at the end of the year, I might have enough for that bike I dreamt about.
