The analysis of teaching materials(教材分析) What: This class is the second period of 9BM6U2. Before the class, students have read a passage about the eating customs in the West and they are going to write down about Chinese eating customs in this class. From reading, they have already learnt about how to describe the customs in the West. Therefore, in this class, they are asked to figure out the structure and the contents that are used for their writing on Chinese eating customs. They should describe the mealtime, the eating methods and how to be polite. Why: Nowadays more and more people around the world are becoming interested in Chinese culture and customs. Therefore, as Chinese students, we should introduce our culture to foreigners. It’s a good chance for students to write down a passage about Chinese eating customs and post it on the school Wechat Official Account to let more people know about Chinese eating customs. How: After learning the passage in the last class, students can generally know how to introduce the eating habits. In this class, they can read the passage for the structure(beginning, body, ending) and brainstorm and select the proper contents(the mealtime, the eating methods, ways of being polite). And they can also use the passive voice as well as rich expressions to describe the customs. The analysis of learning conditions(学情分析) What students have already learned: First, students are familiar with the topic—eating customs in China. What’s more, students have already learnt about how to write down such a passage in a logical way. In addition, they have known how to express some customs in English properly. What difficulties they may meet: Actually, students are familiar with the topic, but they didn’t know how to express some customs in English and they are poor in using rich expressions. Furthermore, they are not familiar with using the passive voice to talk about different situations. Key points and anticipated difficulties(重难点) 1.Learn to describe the eating customs by using the passive voice and rich expressions in the right structure. 2.They may have difficulties in using different expressions to talk about the customs while discussing with their partners.
