教学过程
Look and think Students look at an invitation from Jessie to the teacher and guess what kind of part it is. And they will wonder how the kids in the west celebrate their birthdays. [To lead in the topic naturally with a real situation and students’ interest will be aroused to get to know more how to celebrate birthdays in the west.] Read and summarize Students will read the passage in Around the World and retrieve the key information of how to celebrate a sixteenth birthday with help of a information table. Students check the answer with the teacher and some key sentences will be shown on the screen to aid them review the passive voice. They will observe and compare the active voice and passive voice. A grammar summary will help students to summarize the use of passive voice. Also some exercise will help students practice and consolidate the language. [Students review the language point through reading the passage and learn to summarize by comparing the different sentence patterns in order to develop their learning ability.] Practice and consolidate Students read a passage of Jessie’s plan for his birthday party and fill in the blanks to apply what they have learnt. Also some questions will be asked to check their understanding of the reading materials and also a way to help them sort out the basic needs to make a party plan, including when and where to hold, what food to serve and how to celebrate. [Students apply what they have learnt in the class and with the reading material, they will have a deep knowledge of planning a party and form an active attitude for this kind of event.] Think and write The coming-of-age party is one of the most important parts for teenagers. Students are going to invite Jessie to the coming-of-age party in your community. Before writing, students will learn some special activities in the party and also they will think about the basic information needed for the invitation. Then they will write about an invitation with the help of checklist. [Students can get a better knowledge of the coming-of-age party with the help of pictures and also they can carry out the writing task more easily with the help of checklist. Also, by writing an invitation, they will form a complete plan for a party and develop their attitude for Chinese culture.] Homework: Must do: 1. finish your writing. 2. Finish the exercises on the work sheet. Choose to do: Know more about important parties in western countries.
