两者都有“代替”的含义,区别如下:
instead 副词 常位于句首或句末,位于句首时常用逗号与后面的内容隔开。
instead of 短语介词 位于句首或句中,后接名词、代词或动词-ing形式。

在英语中,表示“虽然……但是……”时, although/though
不能和but在同一个句子中使用。
