〖师生共学1〗
连词是一种虚词,它不能独立担任句子成分,只起连接词与词,短语与短语以及句与句的作用。
Ⅰ.并列连词
1.表并列关系的and, both...and..., not only...but also..., as well as等。
(1)Not__only he but__also I am good at drawing.
他和我都擅长画画。
解读not only...but also...连接并列主语时, 谓语动词的数遵循就近原则, 即谓语动词的数由与它最邻近的主语来决定。
(2)Both you and she are right.你和她都对。
解读both A and B“A和B两者都”, 连接并列主语时, 后面所跟谓语动词用复数。
2.表转折关系的but等。
The runner was an old man, but he won the race.
那个赛跑者是一位年长者,但他却赢得了比赛。
3.表选择关系的or, either...or...等。
(1)—Would you like some juice or coffee
你要一些果汁还是咖啡?
—Juice, please.Thank you.果汁吧,谢谢。
(2)Be quick, or you will miss the bus.
快点,否则你会错过这班公交车了。
解读or还表示“否则”的意思。
(3)Either you or I am wrong.
不是你错,就是我错了。
解读either...or...“或者……或者……;不是……就是……”, 连接并列主语时, 谓语动词遵循就近原则。

解读and与or表示“和”的意思时,and用于肯定句,or用于否定句和疑问句。

Ⅱ.从属连词
1.引导宾语从句的连词
(1)I didn't know that Mr.Zhang was our new English teacher.我不知道张老师是我们新的英语老师。
解读that连接由陈述句转变而来的宾语从句。
(2)I asked my mother what gift she would give me on my birthday.我问妈妈在我生日时她会给我什么礼物。
解读who, whom, what, which, whose, when, where, why, how连接由特殊疑问句转变而来的宾语从句。
(3)I asked him if he would like to go to the movies with me.我问他是否愿意和我一起去看电影。
解读if, whether连接由一般疑问句转变而来的宾语从句,意思是“是否”。
2.引导状语从句的连词
(1)引导时间状语从句的从属连词
Once you leave home, you will never be allowed to be back.一旦你离开家,你将永远不准回来。
解读when(当……时),while(在……期间),as(当……时;一边……一边),after(在……之后),before(在……之前),since(自从……以来),till/until(直到;直到……才),once(一旦……),as soon as(一……就)等。
(2)引导原因状语从句的从属连词
She went home early because she had finished her work.因为工作完成了,所以她早早地回家了。
解读as(由于),because(因为),since(既然)等。

Everyone in our school knew him, so we had no trouble in finding him.
=Because everyone in our school knew him, we had no trouble in finding him.
因为我们学校每个人都认识他,所以没费一点事儿就找到了他。
解读because, so不能同时出现在一个句子里,只用其中之一,汉语翻译仍然是“因为……,所以……”。
(3)引导地点状语从句的从属连词
Where there is a will, there is a way.
有志者,事竟成。
解读where(在……地方),wherever(无论在哪里)等。
(4)引导条件状语从句的从属连词
You'll have no time for breakfast if you get up late.
如果你起床晚了,你就没时间吃早饭。
解读if(如果),unless(除非),so/as long as(只要)等。
(5)引导目的状语从句的从属连词
I came here in__order__that I might take a good look at the new bridge.
我来这儿,为的是好好看看新建的大桥。
解读 in order that(以便),so that(为了)等。
(6)引导结果状语从句的从属连词
He is such a good student that we all like him.
他是个好学生,我们都喜欢他。
解读so(结果),so...that/such...that(如此……以至于)等。
(7)引导比较状语从句的从属连词
①He thinks music is as interesting as science.
他认为音乐和科学一样有趣。
②She can run faster than her sister.
她跑得比她妹妹快。
解读as...as(和……一样),not so/as...as(不如……),than(比)等。
(8)引导让步状语从句的从属连词
Though Australia is very large, the population is quite small.
=Australia is very large, but the population is quite small.
=Though Australia is very large, yet the population is quite small.
虽然澳大利亚很大,但人口稀少。
解读though/although, but不能同时出现在一个句子里, 只用其一即可, 汉语仍译为“虽然……但是……”。但though可以和yet同时出现在一个句子中, 这里的yet是副词, 不是连词。
