2017人教版高考英语一轮练习及答案—必修5Unit 4
新题型—短文语法填空
Have you ever started sneezing when eating peanuts, getting rash(皮疹)on your skin or feeling your heart starting to beat faster?Statistics show that around 12 million Americans suffer from food allergy, with 6.9 million allergic to seafood and 3.3 million allergic to peanuts or tree nuts.
Food allergic symptoms occur immediately after having an allergen food. The food is treated as harmful to the body,by the immune system, which defends our organism from harmful external attacks. Here are a few guidelines about things you should know and how to put them into practice to prevent food allergies and eat healthily.
When buying food, read attentively the labels on the food products. All manufacturers according to the new Food Allergen and Consumer Act must clearly list all the elements of the product including the 8 food allergens even if they are present in very small amounts.Don't buy these products, even if they might be cheaper.
Parents should be very cautious when preparing food. The table and cooking tools used need to be clean. It is recommended to cook the food of the allergic person in the first place.
Food allergic persons should have a little patience. In certain people, the allergy disappears gradually.Visit your doctor at regular times to find about the progress of your allergies instead of having strict diets every day.
Keep a diary to note the foods that worsen your food allergies, new experiences and changes that you notice.Being tempted to have a piece of cake can be very dangerous.Your health is much more worth than it.Always think about the efforts people around you are putting to create an allergic-free environment for you.
Allergic persons should avoid consuming cakes that are not homemade and should always carry some snacks on them.Buying food in restaurants is risky.

Since the 1970s, scientists have been searching for ways to link the brain with computers. Brain-computer interface(BCI) technology could help people with disabilities send commands to machines.
Recently, two researchers, Jose Millan and Michele Tavella from the Federal Polytechnic school in Lausanne, Switzerland, demonstrated(展示)a small robotic wheelchair directed by a person’s thoughts.
In the laboratory, Tavella operated the wheelchair just by thinking about moving his left or right band. He could even talk as he watched the vehicle and guided it with his thoughts.
“our brain has billions of nerve ceils. These send signals through the spinal cord (脊髓)to the muscles to give us the ability to move. But spinal cord injuries or other conditions can prevent these weak electrical signals from reaching the muscles,” Tavella says. “Our system allows disabled people to communicate with external world and also to control devices.”
The researchers designed a special cap for the user. This head cover picks up the signals from the scalp(头皮) and sends them to a computer. The computer interprets the signals and commands the motorized wheelchair. The wheelchair also has two cameras that identify objects in its path. They help the computer react to commands from the brain.
Prof. Millan, the team leader, says scientists keep improving the computer software that interprets brain signals and turns them into simple commands. “The practical possibilities that BCI technology offers to disabled people can be grouped in two categories: communication, and controlling devices. One example is this wheelchair.”
He says his team has set two goals. One is testing with real patients, so as to prove that this is a technology they can benefit front. And the other is to guarantee that they can use the technology over long periods of time.
1.BCI is a technology that can
A. help to update computer systems B. link the human brain with computers
C. help the disabled to recover D. control a person's thoughts
2. How" did Tavella operate the wheelchair in the laboratory?
A. By controlling his muscles. B. By talking to the machine.
C. By moving his hand. D. By using his mind.
3. Which of the following shows the path of the signals described in Paragraph 5?
A. scalp → computer →cap →wheelchair
B. computer →cap →scalp →wheelchair
C. scalp →cap →computer →wheelchair
D. cap → compute →scalp →wheelchair
4. The team will test with real patients to
A. make profits from them B. prove the technology useful to them
C. make them live longer D. learn about their physical condition
5. Which of the following would be the best title for the text?
A. Switzerland, the BCI Research Center
B. New Findings About How the Human Brain Works
C. BCI Could Mean More Freedom for the Disabled
D. Robotic Vehicles Could Help to Cure Brain Injuries
【文章大意】科普说明文。本文介绍了BCI脑机接口技术,它是帮助残疾人向机器输送指令。

(2015·东北三省三校第二次联合模拟)
After the popularity of the Ice Bucket Challenge, another challenge now is hot in India. Indians give rice to their poor neighbors for a charity(慈善) which is called “Rice Bucket Challenge”. __1__ It is about giving a bucket of rice to someone who is in need and taking a picture named “Rice Bucket Challenge” to share online. The aim of the activity is to help the poor and hungry people in India, and the movement's Facebook page has so far clocked up more than 50,000 likes. __2__ The activity was started by Manju Latha Kalanidhi, a 38-year-old journalist, who thought the Ice Bucket Challenge was a little strange. She said, “Hunger is a disease anybody would connect.” The challenge has gained a lot of support with students signing up in Indian Insitute of Management, and more and more people join in it. __3__
India is the world's second-biggest rice consumer, with a storage of 21.2 million tons of the grains. __4__ It has suffered with mass hunger, and last year was ranked 63 of 78 countries on the International Food Policy Research Institute's global hunger index. How to participate in this activity? First, pick up a bucket of rice from your home and give it to the neighboring people who are in need.__5__ At last, invite online all your friends and ask them to take up the challenge. It is important to post back on Facebook because it will inspire all your friends to come forward. All the people get together and make a difference!
A.Besides, hand the rice bucket over to other people who are in need.
B.It is not an activity involving dumping a bucket of rice on someone's head.
C.The activity raises the public awareness and charitable donations to agriculture.
D.The AirAsia India airline says its staff including senior management will join.
E.Then, take a picture and post it on Facebook with “Rice Bucket Challenge”.
F.But it is far from enough for this country.
G.The initial inspiration came from the ice bucket challenge.
5.E 根据前句用表示顺序的词“First,...”,后句用了“At last...”描述,因此这句应该选E,然后照张相片,发到脸谱网上,并且注明“米桶挑战”字样。
