A
When we' re stressed out, many of us turn to junk food for comfort. But a new study says this might not be a positive idea. The study found that eating a lot of fatty foods can change animals' brains in ways that make their anxiety worse.
The person who is responsible for the study, Christopher Lowry, says that we knew junk food could make us put on weight, but we didn't know it could also make us feel more nervous.
In an earlier study, they found the large mice that ate a lot of fat had more signs of brain inflammation(炎症) and acted more nervously. To better understand how a high-fat diet might be connected to anxiety, the researchers put some mice into two groups. Half got a standard diet of about 11% fat for nine weeks, and the others got a high-fat diet of 45% fat. They looked at the mice's gut( 肠 ) health and then gave the mice tests to see how they behaved.
When compared to the control group, the group eating a high-fat diet, not surprisingly, were heavier. They also had fewer types of beneficial bacteria(细菌) in their guts. And they had more of certain things in their brains, which have something to do with stress and anxiety.
Fats from food like fish can be good for our brains. But his research in animals suggests that too much fat, especially at a young age, might make the brain more likely to suffer from anxiety now and later in life.
1. What can we learn about the study
A. The study lasted for less than two months.
B. The subjects were large adult mice.
C. Researchers tested the mice's behaviour.
D. One third of the mice got a standard diet of 11% fat.
2. Which might be the relationship between the weight of a mouse(a) and how much fat it took in(b)
3. 新考法 补全文章 Which of the following can be put in“ ▲ ” in the last paragraph
A. Lowry stresses that not all fats are bad.
B. Lowry explains that some fats can actually reduce anxiety.
C. Lowry notes that a diet with a lot of fats can cause problems for the brain.
D. Lowry believes that a balanced diet is key to avoiding anxiety.
4. What does the writer want to tell us
A. Eating junk food makes us fat.
B. Eating healthy fats can prevent anxiety.
C. All fats are harmful to our brains.
D. Eating high-fat foods may increase anxiety levels.

“Why don't you ever listen ”“You just don't understand me!”“You' re of no help at all!”Sound familiar When you' re having a difficult conversation with your parents or friends, accusatory words like those can stop a discussion. As soon as one feels attacked, the defensive(防御的) walls come up, and real communication becomes all but impossible. We focus on the other person's behaviour first, without spending time thinking about and telling why we' re feeling hurt. Here lie the differences between"I" and“you” statements.
An“I-statement” is a sentence beginning with the word“I” that tells another person how you are feeling in a clear way. For example, you might say, "I feel ... " or“I become nervous when ... "I-statements are a powerful tool to help you express your feelings to someone else without blaming(责怪) others. “You-statements”, such as those listed above, are statements that begin with the word“you”,pointing out what other people have done wrong. These statements often mean that the listener is responsible for something.
Why are I-statements important When you start a conversation by talking about the other person's actions, you' re sending the message that they' re the problem. For most people, this immediately leads to them becoming defensive and trying to throw blame back onto you. However, starting a sentence with“I” helps us talk about difficult feelings and how the problem is affecting us, and stops other people feeling blamed. This can be seen in the case when you feel left out. Instead of saying" You always leave me out”, you can say"I feel hurt when I'm not invited because it feels like I'm not welcome”.
With this I-statement, you' re being honest about your feelings, but you' re not presenting them as something the other person did to you.As a result, the listener will experience this as more friendly, opening the possibility of further conversation and hope for a solution.
It's a simple change, but by being a little more careful of how you express yourself, you may find people are more likely to positively listen to you and understand more about what you are trying to say.
5. What does the underlined phrase“accusatory words” mean
A. Words that attack others.
B. Words to explain reasons.
C. Words that sound familiar.
D. Words to tell the truth.
6. Which of the following might be an“I-statement”
A. I know that everyone in the family is busy.
B. I am anxious when everything is in a mess.
C. I think you are right by telling me the truth.
D. I feel sad because you don't listen to me carefully.
7. How does the writer support his idea in Paragraph 3
A. By using sayings.
B. By asking questions.
C. By making a survey.
D. By giving an example.
8. Why does the writer write this passage
A. To encourage people to use I-statements.
B. To explain when I-statements should be used.
C. To show the disadvantages of you-statements.
D. To suggest being careful of others' you-statements.

The puppet(木偶) play has a history of thousands of years and it is liked by manyChinese people. Puppets are usually dressed in traditional costumes. They can do many movements, such as dancing with long sleeves and practicing writing.
Such puppets are from the hands of puppet makers like Wang Maowei, who is from Xiaoyi,Shanxi Province. Wang Maowei,a 42-year-old artist, is good at making stick puppets. “I fell in love with puppet-making as a teenager and decided to make it a lifelong career, " he says.Recently, Wang has noticed that today's people don't want to sit for more than two hours watching a puppet play as people did before. He realises that it is important to keep up with the times and be creative to make the puppets better.
With his hard work, the puppets gain new life. Traditionally, stick puppets are made of wood and they are heavy to hold. Wang uses newspapers and a kind of cardboard to make the puppets lighter. Therefore, the puppets can be controlled more easily. The noses, eyes and mouths of the puppets can move more quickly now. In the past, homemade pigments(颜料)such as charcoal are used to decorate the puppets. Nowadays, puppet makers can use lots of paints to ensure the colourful“make-up” of the puppets.
After these improvements, the well-designed puppets can not only do movements, but also perform bianlian or face-changing,a traditional Chinese opera trick. It is the balance of traditional puppet-making and modern art. “It costs time and energy to make a good puppet. However, all efforts pay off when I see how much the people love the new puppet play, " he says.

My Best Friend
Tom is my best friend. He has a good sense of humour. He is willing to help others. Also, he is hard-working and good at all the subjects.
Tom likes reading and travelling. During his summer holiday, he often travels to places of interest to learn a lot about different cultures. He is crazy about DIY. He once made a card for his mum's birthday by himself.
He often goes to see giant pandas in the zoo. He puts many photos of pandas on his home page for everyone to see. Besides,he often plays basketball every weekend.
However, sometimes it is easy for him to make mistakes. Ithink he should be more careful and patient in the future.
