More young Chinese are using guzi. Their spending on guzi is even benefiting the country's economy (经济).
Guzi sounds like the English word “goods”. It means “grain” in Chinese. The word here refers to products related to ACGN—anime, comics, games, and novels. Goods include badges, cards, soft toys, and more. The act of buying these products is called “eating grains”.
Most guzi lovers are Generation Z. They are buying guzi for comfort. “These goods help me get through my busier days. They also allow me to leave my worries about my studies behind,” said a college student in Chongqing. The other reason is that the “friendship recession (衰退)” becomes a growing problem in China. Young people want to find new ways to form relationships. Guzi culture is taking advantage of this. Guzi stores offer real life spaces for young people to meet people with similar interests.
By drawing young shoppers to physical stores (实体店), guzi is also bringing new life into China's business. According to an earlier report, China's guzi economy is expected to continue to grow fast. In 2024, it was worth 168.9 billion. There are also more and more shops selling these products, and they can be found in almost every shopping mall in major cities.
13. ( )What does the term “guzi” mean in Chinese
A.Goods. B.Grain.
C.Toys. D.Novels.
14. ( )When was Generation Z born
A.In 1965-1980.
B.In 1981-1995.
C.In 1996-2012.
D.In 1949-1964.
15. ( )What question does Paragraph 3 mainly answer
A.Who are interested in eating grain
B.What is called eating grain in China
C.Why are young people buying goods
D.What are the business benefits of guzi
16. ( )What is the structure of the passage
A. B. C. D.

They found this surprising because the two species are very similar in many ways.
The scientists said that it's important to keep flamingos in a large group so that all personality types are included and each flamingo has the chance to find a like minded friend. “Humans require friendships to be happy. 20. ________” McCully and Rose said.
A.Flamingos might be the same as us, B.Flamingos might not know if they need friendships. C.Birds with similar personalities nearly always stay together.
