Sanket Reddy has spent years in forests around the world taking photos of wildlife. While the animals have always interested him, the people who live alongside them have changed how he sees the world and himself. “Life lessons from those people have truly moved me,” he says.
From South India to Central America, Sanket has met communities who live in peace with nature. “They understand the value of every species(物种), no matter how small,” he says. “Even if you are just watching sparrows(麻雀), you might try to understand why they are doing what they are doing.” In our busy lives, we often fail to notice these small moments(瞬间). But to Sanket, they matter, because noticing is the first step towards caring. And once you care, the protection of wildlife feels like a natural thing.
For Sanket, wildlife photography has never been about becoming famous. “I do it to add value to animals' lives,” he says. “Don't do it to get a few good pictures.”

For centuries, lacquer fans (漆扇) have been loved for their beauty. Today, we'll take a look at the story behind lacquer fans.
Lacquer fans are special fans from China, and their history dates back to the Han Dynasty. Later, lacquer fans became one of the top collections in the art world during the Tang Dynasty. Lacquer is a natural varnish (清漆) from the lacquer tree. It was first used for wooden objects to protect them from water and insects. Over time, workers began to use lacquer to make and decorate (装饰) fans.
Lacquer fans are made with bamboo or wooden frames (框架). Traditionally, they are painted with different themes and patterns (图案), such as flowers and birds, and people, to make them more beautiful. Although the ways of making fans continue to improve, workers still use traditional techniques (技艺) to create lacquer fans, keeping this ancient art alive.
Nowadays, lacquer fan painting is one of the most popular activities among young people. The process is quite simple. People first choose the colours they want to use, drop the coloured lacquer into the water, stir (搅拌) it, put the fans in the water for a while, and then take them out. And that's it.
Many people like lacquer fans. Every fan is unique (独一无二的), like each of us.

Lightning strikes kill millions of trees each year—but it turns out that some large tropical (热带的) trees can not only stay alive after they're hit by a strike, but also benefit from its effects, according to a recent study.
Some trees are getting repeatedly hit by lightning over their lifetime. But why can they survive Researchers don't know for sure. However, they think that trees will be heated less if they're more conductive. That means the energy from lightning is just moving to their neighbours, instead of staying in them. The strong power of lightning kills the parasitic vines (寄生藤蔓) on the trees. It also kills some other trees nearby, reducing competition.
Dipteryx oleifera, a tree in Panama's forests, has probably experienced 10 lightning strikes so far. It stays safe and sound, while most of the neighbouring trees were killed. If you are in the forest where it is, you'll know what it is like—its huge size and height. “We believe the trees in Panama's forests have five strikes on average. But, you know, some of them obviously have a ton,” Evan Gora, a forest ecologist said.
How long do these trees live in the forests People can't do tree ring dating in tropical forests because the trees don't make continuous growth rings. Researchers guess many of the trees would be hundreds, or maybe even more than 1,000 years old.
What can we learn from the study The hardest things can turn into good things, can they

Scientists from China's Shanghai Jiao Tong University are developing a robot “guide dog” to help blind people. With the help of cameras and AI, the robot dog can see, listen and speak with blind people. Blind people can also use a cane (手杖) to control the robot's walking and running speed. The robot can even recognize traffic lights—real guide dogs are unable to do that.
The robot dog is about the size of an English bulldog but a little wider. It has six legs instead of four. The other two legs make it steadier (更稳定的) and help it move faster.
41 year old Li Fei and 42 year old Zhu Sibin are helping test the robot. Li is totally blind and Zhu can only see a little. “The robot dog will make it easier to get into public places. It could change our lives in the near future,” Li said.
In China, there are about 17.31 million blind people, but there are only about 400 guide dogs. The new robot is trying to solve this problem. “We believe our robot will act as ‘a pair of eyes' for blind people,” said Professor Gao Feng, one of the scientists. He thinks there could be a large market for these robot dogs.

Should students arrive at school after 7:30 a.m.
Recently, some schools have made a new rule that students should arrive at school after 7:30 a.m.The purpose of this rule is to ensure that students can get enough sleep and have a better learning state.
Some students like this rule. They think they can get up later, which makes them feel less tired during the day. However, other students don't agree. They worry that they will have less study time because of this change.
In my opinion, I support this rule.As teenagers, we need enough sleep to grow and study well.Getting up later can really help us be more energetic in class. So I believe this rule is beneficial to our study and health.
