Between Thailand and Vietnam tourists tend to ignore that there is an entire country to be discovered beyond the decaying temples. If you've never been to Cambodia before,it can be overwhelming to take it all in at once. We've put together a guide for you to make things easier.
Arrival at Cambodia
Most visitors arrive in Cambodia via Siem Reap International Airport, which is three miles from Angkor Wat and roughly five miles from the city of Siem Reap. You can take minibuses, buses,or domestic flights from Siem Reap to other country regions, such as Phnom Penh,Battambang,Kampot, and Sihanoukville.
To travel to Cambodia, tourists require a visa.Check the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism website for the latest information on policies before making travel arrangements.
Things to do in Cambodia
If you're thinking about a holiday to Cambodia,we have two recommendations for you:
Siem Reap
Siem Reap,a tiny village about five kilometres south of Angkor Wat,has grown into the fastest-growing settlement in Cambodia. When it comes to tourist attractions,Siem Reap is all about delicious cuisine, traditional cottages, and a number of fun activities that won't ruin your holiday.
Tonle Sap
Tonle Sap,Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake, grows from 1,000 square miles to 6,200 square miles during the rainy season, from June to October.Over 300 species of freshwater fish breed in the flooded forests, and the lake supplies half of Cambodia's entire fish catch.A short drive north of Siem Reap,Tonle Sap is known for its floating villages, where entire populations depend on the lake for their survival.
Where to stay
As Cambodia's most popular gateway city for tourists,Siem Reap has a wide variety of accommodation options, from hostels to five-star hotels.Booking in advance is especially important if you plan to travel during the peak season of December and February.
Best time to visit
Visit Cambodia in the dry season, which lasts from the end of November to the beginning of April. The Angkor temples are far more pleasant to visit during the dry season when the weather is cooler.

Black rhinos (犀牛) have terrible eyesight.Even so,these large African animals can fight against hungry lions and hyenas(鬣狗).With big sword-like horns, their large and thick-skinned body plan has proved to be good enough to survive in a place full of huge predators (捕食性动物).But those protective features are no match for humans with guns.
Today, the species is seriously endangered largely due to illegal hunting. But the rhinos may have an unlikely partner against hunters: the red-billed oxpecker (牛椋鸟).The chatty, sociable birds often hang out on the backs of rhinos, feasting on the ticks (虱子) on their bodies.
“And actually, research has shown that the tick is the favourite diet of an oxpecker. And if they feed on ticks, that is a good thing,” said Plotz,a behavioural ecologist. He suspected that the rhinos put up with them because the oxpeckers make loud alarm calls whenever they see humans approach—giving the rhinos an early warning to flee.
To test whether the oxpeckers do,in fact, act as noisy lookouts,Plotz and his team placed radio transmitters (发送器) in the rhinos' horns. The researchers found that rhinos without oxpeckers detected an approaching human only 23 percent of the time,at an average distance of 27 metres. But when oxpeckers were present, the birds warned the rhinos 100 percent of the time. And they sensed the human 61 metres away on average. And the more oxpeckers on the scene, the greater the detection distance— which means the earlier the warning.
It makes sense because the more eyes you have on your back looking out for you,the more chance that you can pick up anything coming. What we think is going on,fundamentally,is that the rhino is listening to the alarm call. There can be no doubt of that.Listening to oxpeckers' alarm calls brings a really strong anti-human benefit.
Plotz thinks the oxpeckers may have gradually changed and developed their behaviour because it protects their convenient food source. And the more lookouts, the better in what seems like a win-win for both species: the birds thrive and the rhinos survive.

The most important thing to keep in mind when deciding to serve another is that service expects no rewards. When you expect something in return, and are not serving out of the goodness of your heart, others will notice.Sure they'll thank you. 1 .
When you give from your heart, the real power of service comes into play.Serving is a great opportunity to strengthen your trust and respect for another, and for them to do the same for you.Not only do you feel great about helping out,but you build your relationship with them, and they will feel more willing to help you in the future. 2 .
However, why is service so rarely seen these days? 3 Sure, living in this day and age does not leave us much time, and the last thing people want to do is more work.“I'm too busy, there's too much work,or I don't have the time” may run through your head when you hear the word “service”,but the truth is the benefits are worth the sacrifice.Gandhi once said that,“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” 4 Some ideas of places you can serve are volunteer centres, nursing homes, boys and girls clubs, and so on.You can serve people as long as you want to.
5 Although it does take some work, the benefits are more than worth the sacrifice. Not only do you feel better about making another's day a little less stressful, but you strengthen your relationship with them and they will be more willing to help you in the future.
A.It's a win-win situation.
B.Service is simple.
C.Overall, service and selflessly giving to others are very powerful and have many benefits.
D.And they will offer you worse service.
E.Service is a complex event.
F.The problem is,there's always an excuse not to serve.
G.But the service becomes more of a situation,“I'll do this for you if you do this for me.”

It's a win-win situation.(这是一个双赢的局面。) 故选A。]
The problem is,there's always an excuse not to serve.(问题是,总是有借口不服务。)
承接下文,C项Overall, service and selflessly giving to others are very powerful and have many benefits.(总的来说,服务他人和无私奉献是非常强大的,有很多好处。)切题。故选C。]

When you give from your heart, the real power of service comes into play.Serving is a great opportunity to strengthen your trust and respect for another, and for them to do the same for you.Not only do you feel great about helping out,but you build your relationship with them, and they will feel more willing to help you in the future. 2
