Finally, guilt and regret flowing in my mind,I rushed out to apologise to Anne.

My First Marathon (马拉松)
A month before my first marathon, one of my ankles was injured and this meant not running for two weeks, leaving me only two weeks to train.Yet,I was determined to go ahead.
I remember back to my 7th year in school. In my first P.E.class,the teacher required us to run laps and then hit a softball.I didn't do either well.He later informed me that I was “not athletic”.
The idea that I was “not athletic”stuck with me for years. When I started running in my 30s,I realized running was a battle against myself, not about competition or whether or not I was athletic. It was all about the battle against my own body and mind.A test of wills!
The night before my marathon,I dreamt that I couldn't even find the finish line.I woke up sweating and nervous, but ready to prove something to myself.
Shortly after crossing the start line,my shoe laces(鞋带) became untied. So I stopped to readjust. Not the start I wanted!
At mile 3,I passed a sign:“GO FOR IT,RUNNERS!”
By mile 17,I became out of breath and the once injured ankle hurt badly.Despite the pain,I stayed the course walking a bit and then running again.
By mile 21,I was starving!
As I approached mile 23,I could see my wife waving a sign. She is my biggest fan.She never minded the alarm clock sounding at 4 amor questioned my expenses on running.
I was one of the final runners to finish. But I finished! And I got a medal. In fact,I got the same medal as the one that the guy who came in first place had.
Determined to be myself, move forward, free of shame and worldly labels(世俗标签),I can now call myself a “marathon winner”.

7.What does the story mainly tell us
A.A man owes his success to his family support.
B.A winner is one with a great effort of will.
C.Failure is the mother of success.
D.One is never too old to learn.

What comes into your mind when you think of British food Probably fish and chips,or a Sunday dinner of meat and two vegetables. But is British food really so uninteresting Even though Britain has a reputation for less-than-impressive cuisine,it is producing more top class chefs who appear frequently on our television screens and whose recipe books frequently top the best seller lists.
It's thanks to these TV chefs rather than any advertising campaign that Britons are turning away from meat-and-two-veg and ready-made meals and becoming more adventurous in their cooking habits. It is recently reported that the number of those sticking to a traditional diet is slowly declining and around half of Britain's consumers would like to change or improve their cooking in some way. There has been a rise in the number of students applying for food courses at UK universities and colleges. It seems that TV programmes have helped change what people think about cooking.
According to a new study from market analysts,1 in 5 Britons say that watching cookery programmes on TV has encouraged them to try different food.Almost one third say they now use a wider variety of ingredients (配料) than they used to,and just under 1 in 4 say they now buy better quality ingredients than before. One in four adults say that TV chefs have made them much more confident about expanding their cookery knowledge and skills, and young people are also getting more interested in cooking. The UK's obsession (痴迷) with food is reflected through television scheduling.Cookery shows and documentaries about
food are broadcast more often than before. With an increasing number of male chefs on TV,it's no longer “uncool”for boys to like cooking.

When my students ask me how to improve themselves,I always recommend personality imitation (模仿).I believe imitation is one of the fastest forms of learning.
For example, before writing my first scientific paper,I made a small pile of published articles that were especially attractive and understandable. Then I reread them. And I made notes on the side:A quote at the beginning.Short sentences at the end of paragraph.Big ideas in the end.And then, without delay,I sat down to imitate what I'd observed.
It may seem that copying what other people do is cheating. Many of my students assume that they had better figure everything out on their own.But it turns out that a great deal of human learning is imitation. We were all born to copy-paste (复制粘贴).
A few years ago,I had a conversation with Toby Cosgrove, the former chief executive of Cleveland Clinic.I asked him how someone who at the beginning of his career was told he lacked talent later became the most famous cardiothoracic surgeon in the world. This was his response:
“I worked and worked and worked at first. And then I changed the way I did things over time I went and watched other people do things. In fact,I used to call them my ‘innovation trips’.I would go all over the world, take my notebook and watch other surgeons and various techniques, and I would pick up things from them and put them in my practice. It was a constant quest and I was always looking for ways to do something better.”
These stories are supported by science. Some experiments confirm that copy-pasting the successful strategies of others can help you reach your own goals. Therefore, don't think that copy-pasting what you admire is by definition cheating.Without question,it's wrong to take someone else's work and pass it off as your own.But it's right to find inspiration in the way other people live their lives.

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I was a volunteer for an organisation at the beginning of this year. The organisation is aimed at helping children who suffer from cancer. One day,we were asked to raise money for cancer research and programme funding at an event.
Since my friend Lisa was also a volunteer for the organisation,I went to the event with her. There were many people at the event. After seeing our poster, some people came to us and talked with us.But few people donated money. It was a bit hot that day. Both Lisa and I got really upset.
Half an hour later,Lisa started complaining,“I don't think we can raise much money today.”
“Don't worry. The event lasts for three hours. There is still a lot of time left,”I said, though I also thought poorly of our plan to raise much money that day.
While Lisa and I were talking,a little boy of about eight years old came to us.He stood in front of our poster and started reading.
After a while,he asked,“What is cancer?”
I explained what cancer is.Then I said,“Many people around the world are suffering from cancer. It can be really dangerous.More research is needed to learn about it so that people with it can suffer less. That's why we're collecting money for it.”
“Do children suffer from cancer, too?”asked the boy.
“Yes.Many children suffer from cancer. Some of them may die. They need help.”Lisa said and I nodded.
Hearing that, the boy became sad. Then the boy asked,“How much money have you collected?”
Both Lisa and I were embarrassed to tell him that we didn't raise much money. At last,we said,“Not much.”
The boy looked into our donation container and only saw a few one-dollar and five-dollar bills. The boy said nothing after seeing that and left. Then some girls came to us and we started talking with them.Neither Lisa nor I thought the boy would return. However, about twenty minutes later, the boy did return.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
The boy happily ran to us and asked,“Would you take a donation from children?”____________________________________________

Both Lisa and I were deeply touched._______________________

The boy happily ran to us and asked,“Would you take a donation from children?”Lisa and I looked at each other. We couldn't believe such a little boy would care.Though we didn't believe it,we said “yes”.The boy put his hand in his pocket and took out some five-dollar bills. He said,“I just asked for them from my mother.I really want to help the children suffering from cancer.”
Both Lisa and I were deeply touched. We thanked the boy,but he left soon.Looking at his back, both Lisa and I were greatly encouraged. We wanted to try harder to raise money. So instead of just standing there,we went to people and told them about our programme. At the end of the day,we raised over three thousand dollars,a lot more than Lisa and I had expected in the beginning.
