Four of the Best Money Games for Kids
When was the last time your kids saw you pay for something in cash Chances are that your kids rarely see bills and coins exchange hands. Living in a digital world, it's difficult for kids to understand what really happens when adults pay for things. The following are some money games for kids that can teach them the different values of bills and coins, how to handle money, and even economics.
Buy It Right
Age range: Ages 7 to 12
Buy It Right lets kids get hands on experience dealing with bills and coins while introducing the concept of prices and thinking through whether an object is too expensive or not. Kids set their prices and buy and sell items while moving their piece around the board.
Money Match Me
Age range: Ages 5 to 8
While not entirely a game, Money Match Me can be a fun way to test kids' knowledge of coins. One card shows a group of coins needing to be matched with a written description. For example, a picture of three quarters would be matched with a card that says “seventy five cents”.
Money Bags
Age range: Recommended for ages 7+
If your kids need practice counting money and telling apart different coins, the Money Bags game can help. As players move along the board, they collect money from the bank. The winner is the person who has the most money when the game ends.
Pay Day
Age range: Ages 8 and up
This classic board game simulates what it's like to get a paycheck each month while also having financial duties. Players are also able to receive 10% interest on the balance of their savings. The player with the most cash and savings at the end wins.
21.What is the skill focus of Buy It Right
A.Introducing basic business concepts.
B.Recognizing different bills and coins.
C.Learning to identify and count money.
D.Making kids consider prices and expenses.
22.Which money game recommends the youngest age limit
A.Buy It Right. B.Money Bags.
C.Money Match Me. D.Pay Day.
23.What do Money Bags and Pay Day have in common
A.Players focus on adding different bills.
B.Whoever owns the most money is the winner.
C.Kids learn how to budget in a reasonable way.
D.Kids are able to receive interest on their savings.
B
“Dad, I need your e here!” My 5 year old girl pulled me towards the computer. “Dad, please buy everything I have in the Amazon shopping cart (购物车). Here, take this cash from my savings!” The shopping cart showed ten items for a total of about 130 dollars. “Wait!” I replied. “That's too much money! Why do you need all these things?”“Please, Dad! These items will get here before Christmas. I have a surprise for everyone. No peeking (偷看)!” she explained, and I bought everything.
A couple of days later, she got everything. I saw her then wrapping (包装) all her gifts. “Can I help you?” I asked.“No, Dad. I told you these are special surprises. No peeking!” she replied. Her excitement was obvious.
The day came. She was all around her gifts, planning, protecting, arranging. Everything had to be perfect. As soon as dinner was over, she jumped from her chair and took her gifts. She went around giving each one of us her piece of love. These were small items, but it was the meaning of giving her heart that we were really feeling. As she gave the gift to each person, she watched the expression on our faces. Our smiles were her greatest reward. Her last gift was for my 2 year old boy—a toy car. It was hard to describe my little boy's delight at getting this gift! For several minutes, everyone's attention was focused on watching him go all around the house happily.
Seeing these acts of my 5 year old helped me understand the power of giving—giving from the heart. Later that day, my girl received some gifts, but she didn't need them. She focused on others, not on herself. It was clear that she was the one feeling true joy.
24.Why did the girl ask her father for help
A.She didn't have enough money.
B.She needed him to keep the secret.
C.She wanted to get his opinions on gifts.
D.She couldn't make the online payment.
25.How did the girl feel when wrapping the gifts
A.She felt proud.
B.She felt delighted.
C.She felt cautious.
D.She felt satisfied.
26.What did other family members think of the girl's acts
A.Pleasant. B.Creative.
C.Reasonable. D.Surprising.
27.What is the author's purpose in writing the text
A.To praise his daughter for her generosity.
B.To share his experience of raising his kids.
C.To discuss how to find happiness in daily life.
D.To share the lesson learned from his daughter.

Almost everyone agrees that art is important, but they disagree on whether governments, using taxpayers' public money, should be funding it. Also, if governments do spend money on art, what artworks should they buy and for what purpose
Most governments purchase well known artworks for public galleries, such as the Metropolitan in New York, the National Gallery in London, the Louvre in Paris and the Uffizi in Florence, which are all free to the public. Most people do not object to public money being spent on keeping great artworks available to the public eye. However, there are some types the public are often not so happy about supporting.
In the 1980s when most people seemed to have lost interest in art, the Turner Prize was started in order to regain public's attention again. This is a contemporary art award supported by taxpayers. In 1999, the Turner Prize came under great public criticism when Tracey Emin was shortlisted for the prize for her work called My Bed. My Bed was her actual bed which she had lain in for days following a relationship breakup. To some, this was a breakthrough and some visitors even jumped into the bed and rolled around. To others, it was simply a dive into the depths of human depravity (堕落).
But is the kind of “work” done by Emin “art”? And should the public pay for it, especially when it is so controversial (有争议的)
Western art is certainly at a crossroads. Does it keep exploring the dark side or does it seek an ideal beauty Perhaps the answer depends on the public at large and the values they hold. Many people were pleased when Richard Wright won the Turner Prize in 2009 with his fresco (壁画). Its artistic beauty, poetic nature and use of historic tradition might show that society is looking for something more positive and “rooted” in its history again. If public money is spent on art, it is essential that the public play a key role in debating both art, and what art they are willing to pay for.
28.Why are some galleries mentioned in Paragraph 2
A.They are well known worldwide.
B.They appeal to the public.
C.They offer free admission.
D.They are publicly funded.
29.What do we know about “My bed”?
A.It's a controversial painting.
B.It caused opposing reactions.
C.It seeks ideal beauty and truth.
D.It goes against contemporary art.
30.Which word can best describe the public's attitude to Wright's fresco
A.Appreciative. B.Opposed.
C.Doubtful. D.Unhappy.
31.Who should have the final say on public investment in art according to the passage
A.Artists. B.The government.
C.Taxpayers. D.Turner Prize winners.
D
Social media is taking over our lives: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and now, TikTok. These social media platforms have transformed from a way to stay connected to an industry where even kids can make money off their posts. While this may seem like another opportunistic (机会主义) innovation, it's really full of hidden false realities.
The median income (中位收入) recorded in the United States of America was about $63,000 in 2018. TikTokers can make anywhere from $50,000 to $150,000 for a TikTok brand partnership, and TikTokers with over a million followers can make up to $30,000 a month—$360,000 a year. They are making more than the average person trying to feed their family and keep a roof over their heads, simply by posting a 15 second video.
This is mad in more ways than one. Not only is it an overpaid “job”, it promotes undeserved admiration from viewers and a false sense of reality. Many of these famous TikTokers are still teens, and the effects of fame at such an early stage in life might cause issues later in life, such as mental illness. Teens between the ages of 13 and 17 make up 27% of TikTok viewers, who can be easily influenced by what they are watching. They can put a false sense of self value into who they look up to and what they represent: money, fame, being considered conventionally attractive.
While TikTok has become a great tool for marketing, it's important to understand how this content affects young viewers. If we're constantly consuming content that shows us all we need to do to be successful is be conventionally attractive and post a 15 second video featuring a new dance, it will challenge our knowledge of what really makes someone successful and will in turn affect our individual work ethics (伦理). What about the people who miss birthday and family holidays due to their jobs and aren't getting paid nearly as much as these TikTokers
Richard Colyer, president and creator of Metaphor, Inc, had his own view on this issue. “It sounds great to make money for doing the latest dance moves in a 15 second video, but we should feed the minds of kids and not just their bank accounts. TikTok can be great if used properly. Money alone is not good, technology alone is not good and connectedness can be bad if it's only online.”
Again, as a fellow consumer of TikTok, I do enjoy the app when I have some time to kill and need a good laugh. I'm not against someone making a living on entertainment, but what does getting famous of a 15 second video teach young people
32.What does the underlined word “this” in Paragraph 1 refer to
A.Social networking.
B.Making money on social media.
C.A job offered by TikTok.
D.Staying connected to the Internet.
33.What do the numbers given in Paragraph 2 show
A.TikTokers are earning money easily.
B.All TikTokers are richer than average people.
C.Most TikTokers can become millionaires overnight.
D.TikTokers earn much more than ordinary workers.
34.Which is the possible influence of TikTok on its young users
A.They tend to live an adult life too soon.
B.They are forced to pay for certain services.
C.They may abandon other social media.
D.They are likely to develop false value.
35.What can we know about Richard Colyer's comments
A.TikTok can be a positive influence if teens employ it wisely.
B.Young TikTokers should be banned from making money.
C.It is better to involve education on investment in TikTok videos.
D.Contents of videos need checking before their release online.

This is a heartwarming story and it began unfolding itself on Father's Day when some kind people got so creative that they could get an elderly man out of the heat.
The 70 year old man, Rosario Del Real, was pushing a cart around a Chicago neighborhood—hard work for anyone on a hot summer day. But now, thanks to some sweet customers and the kindness that spread quickly, he may finally have the opportunity to enjoy his retirement. Rosario Del Real worked harder than many folks half his age. Until this month, he had been working as a carpenter from home. Since an injury forced him to take a break from his profession, he pushed a refrigerator cart through the streets, selling Mexican style ice pops (冰棒) to the neighbors. Don Rosario, as he was affectionately known, was born in Zacatecas, Mexico and wore his traditional cowboy suit, hat and belt whenever he sold his frozen treats.
It may have been a holiday for dads across the US, but for Don Rosario, it was “another day at the office”, pushing his refrigerator cart around the neighborhood. Oscar Gonzalez and his friend Victor Dominguez were hosting a Father's Day barbecue for their families and they found the poor old man who had to work on such a hot day. It was agreed that something had to be done to help this old man. So they invited the hardworking salesman to join them. However, the salesman thanked them but didn't stop his hard work because his refrigerator was still full of frozen treats. He had to sell them out before having a rest, though he needed it so much.

Don Rosario was moved to tears by their generosity that day.

Today is the third day of my week's holiday in Paris. The journey here was very long and I felt tired because I didn't get much sleep on the plane. But I was excited when I got in the taxi and I could see the Eiffel Tower from the window. It really is quite an impressive sight. The weather here is a little bit cold, and sometimes rainy. So I had to buy a new umbrella because I forgot to bring one. The traffic is very bad, so usually I like to walk if I can. But it's a big city, so it can get very tiring after a few hours. The food here is delicious, but I don't like the breakfast served at the hotel. However, I am so lucky because there is a nice bakery close to where I am staying. They have fresh bread every morning and the shopkeeper always greets me with a big smile. I have visited most of the famous places, but I couldn't get into the Louvre, because I went too late last night and the tickets were all sold out. I really hope I can go today, because I'm a big fan of art galleries and I must see the painting of Mona Lisa. It's the real reason I came here.

Recently we have had a discussion about whether money can bring us happiness. Different people hold different opinions.
Some students think that money is so important that we couldn't survive without it. It is money that allows us to live a comfortable life.
Others, however, have the opposite opinion. They don't think money means everything. For example, money cannot buy health. If we attach too much importance to money, we cannot find the real meaning of life.
Personally, we should not regard money as everything. Money is just a tool that helps us to get what we need. We should use it wisely and properly.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Everyone bonded very quickly. Before long, they decided to buy all of the items in Don Rosario's cart so that he could go home and rest. One of their friends recorded a video of the heartwarming sale and posted it on the Internet and when the video spread online, the family used the publicity to set up a fundraiser that could help the immigrant retire. To their surprise, generous strangers from all over the world ended up contributing more than $62,000.
Don Rosario was moved to tears by their generosity that day. When learning that his new friends had collected a huge sum for his retirement, the old salesman excitedly told his new friends, “Nothing can express my thanks to you lovely friends who have done this for me. It has made me so happy. But I don't like to sit at home doing nothing and without a purpose. I will keep working because it brings me so much satisfaction.”

18.Why did the speaker buy a new umbrella
A.His old one was damaged.
B.He really loved that one.
C.He failed to bring one.
19.What is the main advantage of the hotel's location
A.It is beside the Eiffel Tower.
B.It is very close to a bakery.
C.It is within walking distance to Louvre.
20.Why did the speaker go to Paris
A.To see some artworks.
B.To eat some French food.
C.To meet some good friends.

阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

篇章导读:本文是一篇议论文。文章主要讨论政府是否应该使用纳税人的钱来资助艺术,以及如果资助,应该购买什么样的艺术品以及购买的目的。
28.Why are some galleries mentioned in Paragraph 2
A.They are well known worldwide.
B.They appeal to the public.
C.They offer free admission.
D.They are publicly funded.
解析:推理判断题。根据第二段中的“Most governments purchase well known artworks ... which are all free to the public.”可推知,第二段中提及这些画廊是因为它们都是政府出资的公共画廊,向公众免费开放。故选C。
29.What do we know about “My bed”?
A.It's a controversial painting.
B.It caused opposing reactions.
C.It seeks ideal beauty and truth.
D.It goes against contemporary art.
解析:细节理解题。根据第三段中的“In 1999 ... called My Bed.”可知,《我的床》这件作品引发了人们对特纳奖的反对。故选B。
30.Which word can best describe the public's attitude to Wright's fresco
A.Appreciative. B.Opposed.
C.Doubtful. D.Unhappy.
解析:推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“Many people were pleased ... in its history again.”可推知,人们对Richard Wright (理查德·赖特)的壁画持欣赏的态度。故选A。
31.Who should have the final say on public investment in art according to the passage
A.Artists. B.The government.
C.Taxpayers. D.Turner Prize winners.
解析:推理判断题。根据最后一段中的“If public money ... they are willing to pay for.”可推知,公众,即纳税人,应该对公共投资艺术有最终发言权。故选C。

第二节(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
